Model Overview:

Few vehicles from overseas manufacturers have garnered as much respect in North America as the Honda Accord. It hasn't achieved this status by being glamorous, sexy or thrilling. Instead, Honda just seems to have its finger on the pulse of what Americans value most. Take an Accord for a spin and you'll find it to be comfortable, roomy, intelligently engineered and easy to drive. It's also backed by strong resale value and a solid reputation for reliability.

You'll find that certain competing sedans and coupes are quicker, more prestigious or simply less expensive than the Accord. What's special about the Honda Accord, though, is its completeness. It scores well across a broader range of categories than practically any family-friendly sedan or coupe on the market. When examined from this holistic standpoint, it's easy to see why the Accord has become an automotive icon and remains one of our editors' top recommendations.

  • its okay - 2006 Honda Accord

Loud road noise. Annoying. Radio is too week for proper adjustment of road noise. Problems with the heater, runs hot and cool. Remote sucks, I need to be up against the car just about, might as well use the key. Tires on this car are too expensive and not necessary for this model (speed rating wise). Pick up lags a bit. Pulls to the right even on flat roads with the explanation by trained factory techs "all Honda accords do this and we like to call it the 6 second rule", thats stupid. Did I mention the poor remote reception? Cool looking radio minimum features, no speed volume increase, mute. Wipers are poor and the defogger works 1/3 of the windshield. Otherwise great color!

I simply love driving it especially the five speed one, I love the way it shifts. Its a lot of fun. I have one that used to be automatic but I changed the transmission to a five speed one.

My family has owned many Hondas, all of which have been very low maintaining vehicles, except for a big problem in my 99 transmission. The car used to be my moms. She had to replace the tranny at just below 100,000. Very disappointing coming from Honda, one of the most reliable manufacturers out there and way above German and American made cars. Now at almost 170,000 miles and up to that Ive been noticing the transmission problems again, and just today it went totally out of gear, and then back in after I jabbed the gas a few times about three seconds later. Not been a fun experience driving in fear with this car... possible my driving habits dont help it either.

  • Good, not great - 2009 Honda Accord

This is my first and probably only Honda. This was a want vs. need purchase. Coolest style V6 coupe w/o nav at under $30k MSRP (paid $26950) is main reason I chose this model. Good pickup, quiet motor and interior. Love the standard ipod adapter but the subwoofer is substandard! The trunk lid needs alignment, one speaker was bad, the passenger front seat needed to be tightened and there are two very visible paint blemishes on the pillar above the driver mirror all which were noted for correction by the dealer at delivery. Having said that, I feel the final factory pre-ship inspection was poor and I hope for better days ahead having driven only 600 miles. 23.5 overall mpg so far.

We had to replace our 89 Honda Accord LX (196,000)and so we "looked" at other competative models but always came back to the old reliable Accord. The 2003 has more power than our first and it is very quiet. The Hondas really keep their value as we sold our old one (which still looked like new)for $2,000 in less than a week.

Now granted I went from a manual everything stick shift Dogde Neon but this car is excellent. It gets the same gas mileage that my neon did, it handles nicely, its a solid smooth ride. I dont even know it when I do 95MPH, not that I have done it officer! I am definetly a Honda girl for life!

  • Great car-wish I could order a duplicate - 1998 Honda Accord

Bought the car used with 7,000 miles. It now has 127k. Recall repair on ignition (never caused a problem) at 90k New belts, hoses, timing belt, spark plugs at 100k ($700ish). Exterior rear drivers side door handle quit working at 105k--replaced this on my Civic once will probably fix it if/when its next in the shop, as I dont use the door too often. Working on fourth set of tires although the last two are low profile Nittos on 18" rims. Replaced front brake pads at 80k. A bit more road noise than I like due mainly to the aftermarket rims/tires. Change oil every 5k miles, adding a bit of Lucas Oil stabilizer--doesnt use a drop. Still gets 24-26mpg city 27-31mpg hwy

  • Reliable and Fun - 1998 Honda Accord

I bought my car used, at 100k miles five years ago. Since then my biggest expense has been a new transmission, but I attribute some of that to the first owners treatment. My air conditioning went out at around 125k, but other than that, I have nothing but praise for this car. I know people who have 10yr old cars that are in the shop constantly. I still get compliments from people about it, them thinking its brand new. The style is gorgeous and its a nice bit of sportiness for a young single gal such as myself. Versatile, nice to take on pleasure trips due to the spaciousness and classy looking enough to take a client to lunch.
