This Year's Model Updates:

Freshened exterior styling debuts on the 2001 Honda Accord, with a more aggressive-looking front fascia and hood and a new taillight design. Honda also ups the safety features list, making dual-stage, dual-threshold front airbags standard and side airbags available on all models. All Accords now either meet or exceed California's low-emission vehicle (LEV) standards (some Accords meet ULEV standards, and one model sold in California is rated SULEV). Improvements aimed at reducing road and wind noise have been made, while EX models get a standard in-dash six-disc CD changer, and all V6 models come with traction control. Midyear, a DX four-banger equipped with a special value package debuted, adding an automatic transmission, air conditioning, a CD player, floor mats, fake wood interior accents and special exterior trim.

Pros:
  • Great build quality, spacious interior, peppy yet clean engines, comfortable seats, excellent resale value, reputation for bulletproof reliability.
Cons:
  • Everybody drives one, personality of Al Gore, taut highway ride.

  • The Honda bulletproof liability falls short - 2001 Honda Accord

I did buy this vehicle used from a honda dealership. I was not aware of the transmission issues this car had until well after the 30 day warranty expired. When I bought the car, it mileage was approaching 139k. Now, heres my dilemma. I have a 1998 Acura Integra with well over 370000 mile and not yet have I ever had a transmission issue. Accord because I would have to be a car. I was really hoping for the same reliability. That did not happen. After doing some research, found that between 1998 - 2002 that this vehicle have transmission issues. Im not blaming the vehicle or any of the previous owners for the issues. Nor am I blaming the manufacturer because I should have follow my instincts and garden a 5-speed manual transmission rather then the automatic. So thats my bad other than that the car was amazing. For a car of its age in mileage, the ride quality was really good. Very easy and after the shift into 3rd gear, very fun to drive. If Im honest, I would not have traded this car in for the current car I have now (2009 Subaru Tribeca/ Ive written a review on this car as well) if the transmission wasnt failing.

  • This is a REAL Car! - 2001 Honda Accord

I bought this 2001 car new. For me it was a move up from a smaller Nissan, and I had been considering a Civic or a Corolla. A friend with me remembers my saying when I started out the lot, "THIS is a REAL car!" and she knew in 20 feet that I would buy it. Now, 20 months and 20K miles later, I feel I "know" the car and am as delighted as I was when new -- of course, it is still the same, so it might as well be new. No service work (besides oil change) has been necessary.

The best mechanic Ive ever known once told me that if I never wanted to see him again to buy a Honda. I am impressed with the interior room and comfort offered in this vehicle. It has become the car of choice for a night on the town with my husband or a long road trip to visit friends and relatives. Its simple the nicest car Ive ever owned.

This honda like the others I have had before has treated very well. For the countless of different driving conditions that I encountered it has never failed not once. I only wish I had the time to baby this car as much as it babys me with its dependability. I only wish it had a stronger/faster engine.

I love my car. I have had no problems with her in almost my year of ownership. I have been across country twice and she runs just as good as she did when i drove off the lot. Hondas are #1!!!

This is my fourth Honda automobile, and it is the best one yet. The name Honda is not often synonymous with luxury, but there are not many things I would wish for that this car doesnt have. Add to that, the reliability and price that Honda is famous for, and you get one excellent automobile. The addition of the V-6 engine as an option is great, and this one definitely delivers. Mine is a lease, and Ill definitely be thinking of keeping it at the end, because I know it will run, and run well, for years to come.

We have a 5 speed manual Accord that has been fun to drive. It is bit of a dog in first gear when the A/C is engaged, otherwise plenty of power with the 4cylinder - 5speed combo. The AC the second year does not cool as expected. Paint chips easily on the front plastic bumper.

  • Review of LX-V6 - 2001 Honda Accord

I replaced my 94 EX with a 01 LX-V6 as I wanted 4 wheel disc brakes without AL wheels (my 94 lost air). Basically a very good car. I have no fault with its performance or transmission. I get a consistent 20 MPG around town and about the same on the highway as my 94 4 cylinder (29-31). Only problem has been a few dash squeaks (not typical for Honda). I find it a bit less of a "sporty" ride that earlier models but it is heavy and bigger.

  • Not What I Thought it Should Be - 2001 Honda Accord

I bought my 2001EX Coupe 4-cyl. after my 2000 Nissan Altima was stolen. I must admit that I would definitely prefer my Altima over this car. I bought this car for resale and resale only. Dont get me wrong, I was in love with the car when I bought it; however, after driving the car 6K miles and having one accident in the vehicle, I was suprised at how cheaply they put the car together. The car had alot of plastic and styrofoam with no real steal to support the car with. I have had the car since Feb 2003 and will be trading it in by Sept 2003.
