This Year's Model Updates:

The 2006 Honda Accord receives freshened interior and exterior styling and mechanical- and feature-related updates. Sharp eyes will notice the Accord's revised fascias and new alloy wheel designs. Minor engine tweaks, including drive-by-wire throttle control, result in a slight bump in horsepower for both the four-cylinder and V6 engine (a more significant development than you might think given the more stringent SAE testing procedures in effect this year). Additionally, the V6 sedan can now be equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, and all V6 models have revised suspension settings, 17-inch alloy wheels and stability control. Last year's DX has been replaced by the VP (Value Package) trim with standard air conditioning and cruise control, and LX V6 and Hybrid models gain a moonroof. The LX Special Edition includes alloy wheels, rear disc brakes and a CD changer. The Accord Hybrid also picks up stability control and a temporary spare tire in place of last year's flat-fix kit. Additionally, the Hybrid model's fuel economy rating drops from 29 city/37 highway to 25/34. Finally, all models get a smart maintenance system and daytime running lamps.

Pros:
  • Roomy and stylish interior with simple controls, tight build quality, smooth ride, refined drivetrains, good crash test scores, strong reputation for reliability, high resale value.
Cons:
  • Tepid handling, brakes should be more powerful. Hybrid model offers no advantage in fuel economy over four-cylinder.

Three months, NO REGRETS. Great balance of performance and amenities for the price. Smooth transmission and seemingly power in all gears. Form and function in one slick car.

After testing a few cars in its class I decided to buy this one due to the price and general feel of the car. It doesnt have as many of the frills as others (Maxima, TL, even 07 Camry SE) and doesnt have as much HP and torque, but was a nice ride. Theres enough power and the style is conservative but sleek. Probably the only gripe I have is that the clutch is a little funny. I thought it was just my lack of skills with a stick but after letting a few of my buddies drive it and after driving a few other cars, I realized that its the cars problem. I read a few forums and other people stated the same problem. 1st and 2nd gear is a bit picky about the way you shift and release the clutch.

  • Pleasantly Surprised - 2006 Honda Accord

Pros: The 4-cylinder engine has quicker response and more pick-up than I expected (and way more than the Nissan Altima 2.5). The interior is nice, not cheap (again unlike the Nissan Altima) and very comfortable both for me (at 5 and for my husband at 64"). The ride is quiet, smooth, and hugs the road. We were in the market for a fuel- efficient mid-size car and looked at the Altima and the Toyota Camry (our other car is a Toyota 4-Runner). Honda was our last stop because we werent really interested in owning a Honda (everyone has one...), but one test drive changed our minds and we are pleasantly surprised everytime we drive somewhere!

  • My First Accord - 2006 Honda Accord

My first new car purchased and after five months of driving couldnt be happier with it. Overall its a solid car. Plenty of luxury for a nonluxury nameplate car. I decided to get the 6 cycl to be comparable to the power of my previous car a 93 Chrysler Concorde, but also for the better look of dual exhausts and stability control not offered in the 4 cycl. Love the driver friendly interior layout, from the white lighted dashboard to the intuitive controls. Folding down rear seats is rather cumbersome.

  • Honda still doing it right. - 2006 Honda Accord

I have owned honda cars in the past. With the gas prices the way the are I went for an economical car. Accord was the choice and honda is sill doing it right. The 2.4 has great pep and getting over 32 m.p.g. As in the past the car is fun to drive solid ride and oh yea, the air bag system is second to none. Thanks again Honda for making my choice easy.

  • Good car - 2006 Honda Accord

This is my first Honda. So far everyone in my family has one. I test drove the 2006 Honda Accord EX and the the 07 Toyota Camry LE. I preferred the way the Honda felt, plus it has more HP than the Camry. My 8 yr. old daughter also prefered the Accord over the Camry because the backseat was more comfortable for her with out a headrest pushing her head forward.

  • A car that makes sense - 2006 Honda Accord

We own an 02 Accord EX which we are very happy with. Still, I was surprised at just how much finer our new one is: its peppier, the leather is nicer, the mileage is better, the interior is more luxurious, and the price is just about what we paid for the 02! This is a thinking persons car - it does what a car should do, reliably, and with comfort, practicality and economy. I rent a lot of mid-sized cars in my job and there is not a one of them that even comes close.

The new 06 model is simply slick and look much more dynamic than the last model.

I just brought this car on Tues (5/31). I have the LX-V6 model and I love it. Its quieter than my Camry and the ride is smooth as well. If youre looking for a dependable car try this one-You wont be sorry.!!

  • Too much mileage saving Hype - 2006 Honda Accord
    By -

So far so good, but I bought the hype; and reality needs to be determined. I liked going the 5,000 miles between oil changes, I believe the mileage projection capability over promised what the car actually delivers. City driving about 24 MPH, On the highway, no Air conditioning, average speed control of 70 MPG, the mileage was 28 MPH. I expected much better
