Overview & Reviews
Freshened exterior styling debuts on the 2001 Honda Accord, with a more aggressive-looking front fascia and hood and a new taillight design. Honda also ups the safety features list, making dual-stage, dual-threshold front airbags standard and side airbags available on all models. All Accords now either meet or exceed California's low-emission vehicle (LEV) standards (some Accords meet ULEV standards, and one model sold in California is rated SULEV). Improvements aimed at reducing road and wind noise have been made, while EX models get a standard in-dash six-disc CD changer, and all V6 models come with traction control. Midyear, a DX four-banger equipped with a special value package debuted, adding an automatic transmission, air conditioning, a CD player, floor mats, fake wood interior accents and special exterior trim.
- Great build quality, spacious interior, peppy yet clean engines, comfortable seats, excellent resale value, reputation for bulletproof reliability.
- Everybody drives one, personality of Al Gore, taut highway ride.

Lemon - 2001 Honda Accord
By sucker5423 - March 1 - 2:00 amI heard Honda cars were so reliable. Not mine. I must have gotten a lemon. Transmission leak, and a bunch of minor, non-engine, problems.

Just Solid - 2001 Honda Accord
By Axra - March 1 - 2:00 amThis car is just solid. The doors are solid, the steering tight, and the power is smooth. After driving a 2000 Civic EX there is just no comparison. You can literally hear the quality by tapping on some of the interior panels. Honda has acknowledged the above average failure in the transmission and has compensated by extending the warranty to 100k miles. Im not concerned at all.

An Excellent Commuter - 2001 Honda Accord
By Jose Rios - December 31 - 10:18 amPurchased my 2001 Honda Accord EX V6 about 4 months ago, and I have to say it is absolutely wonderful so far. It was previously owned by an elderly lady who bought it brand new, and she took great care of it. The exterior look is timeless and simple, and the interior is practical and very comfortable. Ride quality is also superb for a 2001 with 146k, road noise is minimal. My only complaint with the drive is the amount of body roll, which should be expected for a car this size. I also have a gripe with the MPG, which again should be expected with a 3.0 V6, but is far off from the estimated MPG. I average about 19mpg, compared to the 26mpg that is commonly advertised. My only other complaint is the transmission, which should have never been coupled with this torquey V6. My transmission hasnt given me issues yet, but the shifts are not exactly smooth, and Ive read numerous complaints about transmission failure. Overall, it is an excellent car and would highly recommend to anyone looking for an inexpensive and comfortable ride.

This Accord is not a good vehicle - 2001 Honda Accord
By johnlong - December 13 - 10:00 amThis Accord has a bad engine because it is made in the usa and not in japan. The seat belt connecting compartment broke, terrible safety feature in the car. Car is too expensive.

Veee Tech! - 2001 Honda Accord
By The OCDetailer - September 19 - 10:00 amIve had my coupe for about a year now, and I like it more as each day goes by. This car performs very well when asked, yet is mild mannered in most driving situations. It still feels very solid and well made despite some minor squeaks and rattles that seem to travel around the interior. The car has been rock solid in terms of reliability. I dont baby the car driving wise, but give it regular mechanical, interior, and exterior maintenance. By the way, if youre looking for some fun, switch off the traction control and go looking for some unexpecting teenage civic (with the 10 in. diameter exhaust pipe) drivers.

Fun to drive, but a little noisy - 2001 Honda Accord
By dglanz - September 11 - 10:00 amI leased this car last May and currently have right under 10K miles on it. Overall, it is a nice car. The paint looks nice and the interior is finished perfectly. It hasnt had any warranty service on it and is absolutely reliable. Over the last month, it has developed a rattle in the drivers door that is pretty annoying and there is much more road noise than I was expecting from a car that costs over $25K. Maybe it is the tires, but Ill never find out since these tires will be on it throughout my three year lease and I plan to turn it in.

Best Car I have Ever Owned - 2001 Honda Accord
By allen2h - July 15 - 10:00 amHonda VTEC engine with manual transmission = highly refined drivetrain. Just put it in second gear and rip it all the way up to 6,000 rpm. This is not abusing the engine - this is giving this Honda engine the exercise that it yearns for. Very smooth manual shifter - I can shift to any given gear at any time with a precision that takes my breath away. High quality interior materials - nothing looks or is cheap. No rattles, only one minor squeak from the seat when I do hard cornering. Plenty of storage bins. Mileage: 1398 divided by 42.366 = 33.0 mpg when driving easy, 27 - 28 mpg when driving hard. Drawback: Hard cabin air filters replacement.
