Model Overview:

Few vehicles from overseas manufacturers have garnered as much respect in North America as the Honda Accord. It hasn't achieved this status by being glamorous, sexy or thrilling. Instead, Honda just seems to have its finger on the pulse of what Americans value most. Take an Accord for a spin and you'll find it to be comfortable, roomy, intelligently engineered and easy to drive. It's also backed by strong resale value and a solid reputation for reliability.

You'll find that certain competing sedans and coupes are quicker, more prestigious or simply less expensive than the Accord. What's special about the Honda Accord, though, is its completeness. It scores well across a broader range of categories than practically any family-friendly sedan or coupe on the market. When examined from this holistic standpoint, it's easy to see why the Accord has become an automotive icon and remains one of our editors' top recommendations.

  • Overall a good car - 1999 Honda Accord
    By -

I wanted Honda reliability but was a little disappointed, overall a very good car though. Two guys I worked with have 98s (the year this version was redesigned), while they have a lot more miles, I used that as a gauge of problems I could expect. Alternator and battery failed at only 35K miles ($700) which I thought was pretty bad and it needed brakes prematurely soon after that, but thats been about it - almost 10 years old, needs new motor mount but no other repair issues. Its powerful, fairly quiet, agile, excellent handling and braking. Gas mileage drops al lot if you go 70+ MPH. The clear coat finish on the wheels is wearing a little prematurely being in FL most its life.

  • The design is lazy and thoughtless - 2014 Honda Accord

The Bluetooth works half the time and cuts the speaker and mic mid call, forcing me to randomly hang up on people, but not with the steering wheel controls. Oh no, not with those, because when the sound randomly cuts out, none of the buttons work and the call screen just stays there taunting me until I turn the car off or turn off my Bluetooth on my phone and then hit buttons randomly until it unfreezes. Either I have to deal with it until my destination or use my phone while driving, which I was trying to avoid by getting a car with Bluetooth. And when it does work, the speaker and mic are so terrible I can barely have a conversation. Plus, the road noise is so loud Im often asked if my windows are down by people on the line. The lumbar support is ridiculously low, by at least 4"s on me. The media controls are so far away I have to lean forward in my seat to reach them, which is at least a break from the horrible headrest that forces my neck forward by about 45 degrees. The seat just moves weird too. After over 2 years, I still cant settle on a comfortable position. And it has the turning radius of an 18 wheeler. That combined with the inaccurate back up camera caused me to curb my wheels more than once. I drive dozens of different cars daily and havent hit a curb in years. I gave up using my car port since its too narrow to turn in to unless the spots opposite are empty. It has enough space in the cabin for passengers, which is a plus, but it feels excessively bulky. Back to the rearview camera, the guides that are supposed to show you the trajectory of you car, are off by at least 12". Backing up straight, the curbside lines are way too narrow, which defeats the whole purpose. Im guessing no one told them that the lines are actually meant to serve a purpose? Ill help them out, its supposed to help you avoid obstacles AND show you accurate clearance so when youre trying to park just so far from a curb you can aim appropriately. Youre not supposed to show them they are a foot from the curb when their wheel starts grinding on cement.

  • If it was made in Japan....... - 2005 Honda Accord

First time Honda Experience and the biggest dissapointment so far. Leased in March , a month later annoying noises at the curtain airbag, rear seatbelt - had to be fixed , scrape sounds when changing gears 1-2 - Honda have no clue how to fix it....two months later - rear speaker is going off + annoying sounds when AC turned on ...Come on ..have 1400 miles on it and it seems that the car will fall apart at 10000 or so...

  • Good Car - 1998 Honda Accord

This is a really good car. Great driving experience when all is said and done and it has almost 200,000 miles on it now with only about 1,500 dollars worth of maintenance done.

  • Fabulous Car!!! - 1990 Honda Accord
    By -

Weve got 255,000+ miles on this car and Im confident it will be running for a good time longer! Weve had very minimal and cheap repairs because it has been well-maintained for many years. It runs really strong going up hills, picks up speed quickly, is quiet and comfortable! It handles superbly in icy/wet conditions. I have been impressed over and over with this car! I have such peace of mind knowing I wont be stranded, since I travel long distances frequently. Ill buy Honda again!

  • sagging headliner - 2005 Honda Accord
    By -

the headliner is held up with four little pices of velcro wich do not do the job, it sags down about a half inch wich is very annoying for taller drivers. also fuel ecconmy is only 20 mpg. I was a big honda fan till i bought this accord, my civic was a better choice,

  • Misrepresented gas milage - 2005 Honda Accord
    By -

I bought my Accord Hybrid in Jan.05. At that time, the mileage was grossly misrepresented. It has since been adjusted downwards, but I wish I got the mileage they are claiming now. It is a very pleasant car to drive. It should be advertised as a performance car that gets mediocre mileage. The quality of the leather interior is awful. Also, my car did not come with a spare tire. There is a space for one. Cost me $200 to have one installed. Although I will probably keep this car for now, I will not buy another Honda.

  • Good car for the mileage - 1991 Honda Accord
    By -

The door interior handle trim tends to break on these cars, speed sensors, paint flaking off of hubcaps (LX, DX models), squeaky front suspension, cassette/radio problems, harsh/noisy shifting automatics. Luckily, rust has not been a problem on my car, as it is a problem spot around the rear wheel wells on the Accords. My car had developed a few rattles and "popping" noises in the dash area and door panels, but again, for a 11 year old car and 169K, not too bad.

  • Horrible Car! - 2009 Honda Accord
    By -

Buying a 2009 Accord has been the worst purchase Ive made in the last 20 years. Several days after bringing the car home, I started hearing a loud wind noise through the drivers side door when you drove at freeway speeds. After 5 trips to the dealership and having it be in the shop for 2 weeks, I was essentially told, Id just have to deal with the noise. Wonderful! Then at 2000 miles the brakes have started to make a grinding noise, oh and Ive noticed a vibrating sound coming from the dash (which I hit with my hand to stop), not to mention the loud clicking the CD player makes. Essentially this car is a mess, save yourself some money and go buy a Geo Metro.

  • Needs some help inside. - 2008 Honda Accord
    By -

My wife has a 08 Camry Hybrid. Very cool instrumentation. Very nice ride. Bought 08 Honda EX and a bit disappointed. Road noise more than Camry on anything other than smooth highway. Heated side mirrors but no compass or outside temp indicator. Go figure! In Tenn we need the later more than the heated mirrors. Aux outlet is in center console and awkward to get to, especially if you have a bunch of junk in console. Power outlets turn off when you turn off the car.Cant charge my cell phone unless Im driving. No auto headlight on/off! Trunk layout is a strange. Much more narrow and 1 cu ft smaller than Camry LE. Comparing Hybrid w/Honda EX probably not fair comparison but is vs the LE.
