This Year's Model Updates:

Freshened exterior styling debuts on the 2001 Honda Accord, with a more aggressive-looking front fascia and hood and a new taillight design. Honda also ups the safety features list, making dual-stage, dual-threshold front airbags standard and side airbags available on all models. All Accords now either meet or exceed California's low-emission vehicle (LEV) standards (some Accords meet ULEV standards, and one model sold in California is rated SULEV). Improvements aimed at reducing road and wind noise have been made, while EX models get a standard in-dash six-disc CD changer, and all V6 models come with traction control. Midyear, a DX four-banger equipped with a special value package debuted, adding an automatic transmission, air conditioning, a CD player, floor mats, fake wood interior accents and special exterior trim.

Pros:
  • Great build quality, spacious interior, peppy yet clean engines, comfortable seats, excellent resale value, reputation for bulletproof reliability.
Cons:
  • Everybody drives one, personality of Al Gore, taut highway ride.

  • Not the most reliable... - 2001 Honda Accord

Bought a Honda due to excellent ratings and their reliability that you hear so much about. Had two expensive repairs. Had to have the tranmission replaced with low mileage. Honda covered and extended warranty to 100k. Also had a rear main seal that needed repaired with around 50k mileage. Honda refused to admit is was faulty design/workmanship even though all independent sources indicated otherwise. On the 2001 LX model, dont believe the hype that this car is the most reliable out there.

  • Great Car - 2001 Honda Accord

I have owned 2 previous models and this one by far is my favorite. It is a very nicely equipped car. Anyone wanting to buy one should not worry about getting a bad one because they all are a great vehicle.

This is my fourth Honda car and Im certain its my last. My third car was a 1995 Honda Accord V6 EX and I thought it was just a bad year for Honda. My 2001 2 DR V6 Accord is a little better but the design and ride is still just average. The drivers seat seems loose. Everytime I brake or accelerate the seat rocks forward or backward. Dealer stated there are no problems with it so I guess its just poor engineering. The car also seems to have difficulty finding the right gears in traffic. Im always lurching forward or back because the automatic gears cant decide on an appropriate gear. I imagine this car will rust soon just like my other Hondas did. Time to look at other makes.

  • Watch out for the transmission!! - 2001 Honda Accord

I have only had my Honda 1.5 years and I need a transmission already. The dealership said there was a glitch in this particular year of Honda Accords. I never got anything in the mail telling me that. Thank goodness I still have 2,000 miles left on my warranty. New transmission shipped in from Japan-$4,500, 2 or 3 days of a rental car and labor? Hmmm, sounds a little expensive, even for a Honda!!

I love this car, it is one heck of a car for the price. Performance is amazing, and it handles great in snow. No Problems!

  • Excellent car - 2001 Honda Accord

This is my first hounda car. I bought it used and I must thank previous owner for his immaculate maintainence of the car. I have put on 20k miles on it in 15 months. I love this car and there is nothing that I feel, I would like to complain about it. One minor thing I noticed was in the city I get about 17 mpg. However on highways I have noticed more than 30 mpg as long as I stay around 70 mph (with ac/heater on). I highly recommend this car to everyone.

  • A great car but could be quieter inside - 2001 Honda Accord

Bought as "certified" used vehicle w/ 5000 miles in 2003. Most impressed w/ reliability-now at 35000 miles and not a single problem or repair. Reliable family (of 4) vehicle with good gas mileage (26 mpg around town--4 cyl). Not too zippy, but handles well. Expected it to be a quieter ride more wind/road noise than I like. Seats uncomfortable on long drives (>1 hr). Interior design no frills but well laid-out. Lots of trunk space and flexible cargo arrangement w/ the fold- down rear seat and rear seat port-hole (have used this feature many times). We need to move up to larger vehicle now (baby on way) so its good resale value is a plus. Overall satisfied with this car.

  • I love my Honda! - 2001 Honda Accord

I absolutely love my Honda Accord. I used to own a Pontiac Grand Am that was ALWAYS in the shop after getting rid of it and purchasing the Accord there is no comparsion. Just follow the maintenance schedule and get your oil changed every 3,000 - 6,000 miles depending on how hard you drive your car and you will be impressed. I travel quite frequently around the state and I always feel confident and comfortable in my car. My sisters both drive Hondas and swear by them as well!

  • Honda beware - 2001 Honda Accord

Ive now had my Accord EX for 2 years now and I have started having transmission problems. First gears hestitates and shifts very hard. Its also really jerking when going up hills or coming to a stop. The sunroof rattles constantly when sunshade is open. Im just disappointed with Honda. Everything else is good and I havent had any other problems with it.

  • best $14K I ever spent! - 2001 Honda Accord

I love this car since 98,finally I could buy myself one.98-02 is better looking then the 03-04 coupes. NSX concept tailights? V6+upgrades = :). Pulling next 2 any 4cyl(civics/intergra) = :). V6 coupes gets respects on the road. Y get a 4cyl prelude with no leather option for da same $$? I laugh at prelude owners. This V6 zoom up da hill like theres no hills! the only next level better then this is acura type-s coupe. but this is the best deal for the buck! GREAT BUY, for under $15k/25k miles. alot of upgrades out there to make this more then 200hp, cheap to maintain, its fast when u want fast, its peaceful when you want to cruise. A++++
