This Year's Model Updates:

Freshened exterior styling debuts on the 2001 Honda Accord, with a more aggressive-looking front fascia and hood and a new taillight design. Honda also ups the safety features list, making dual-stage, dual-threshold front airbags standard and side airbags available on all models. All Accords now either meet or exceed California's low-emission vehicle (LEV) standards (some Accords meet ULEV standards, and one model sold in California is rated SULEV). Improvements aimed at reducing road and wind noise have been made, while EX models get a standard in-dash six-disc CD changer, and all V6 models come with traction control. Midyear, a DX four-banger equipped with a special value package debuted, adding an automatic transmission, air conditioning, a CD player, floor mats, fake wood interior accents and special exterior trim.

Pros:
  • Great build quality, spacious interior, peppy yet clean engines, comfortable seats, excellent resale value, reputation for bulletproof reliability.
Cons:
  • Everybody drives one, personality of Al Gore, taut highway ride.

  • Research paid off - 2001 Honda Accord

I looked into purchasing a used car for over a year. After owning several Toyota Camrys I wanted something with equal build quality and reliability, but with a drivers design. This accord delivers! I love driving it and everyone else who drives it is amazed. This is truely an amazing vehicle.

  • Never Again - 2001 Honda Accord

I thought that this would be a reliable car that gets good gas mileage. All I can say is never again will I buy a Honda. I have had transmission problems, some covered by warranty others not. The fuel economy is not great, 22mpg. I can get better mileage from my other larger sedan that I own. Basicaly it has been very disapointing

  • Brake problems anyone...? - 2001 Honda Accord

Bought this car new in 2001 and have 117K miles on it. Overall have been very happy with performance and reliability. Only scheduled maintenance (110K is a killer - $900) and replacement of window motor, but expected that based on previous Honda experience. However, this vehicle has recurring problems with rotor warping/brake vibration and I was wonering of other owners have had similar experiences. Have had it back to Honda several times for in warranty and out of warranty fixes, but problem persists. Would like to know if this is a recurring theme as I am considering the purchase of an 05 Accord.

  • Good car - 2001 Honda Accord

I picked the Honda Accord for reliability and safety. The 2001 Accord offers good, but not great mileage. The ride is reasonably smooth and the EX offers 6-CD changer, certainly a plus. Handling on the vehicle is acceptable, but a bit of a dissapointment. Stopping distances seem a little long to me, especially if the anti-locks kick in. Turning isnt as smooth as Id like either. The exterior, as with Hondas offers no excitment, but one cannot complain about top safety ratings and few-- in fact no mechanical problems at 65000 miles.

The Accord is the perfect all-around sedan for those who cannot afford a BMW (or those smart enough not to invest their hard earned money into rapidly depreciating assets at luxury prices). The Accord is sporty enough with a peppy engine and taut suspension to be really fun to zip around in. The car comfortably fits our family of four and has been a great stop-and-go hauler around town as well as a great highway touring sedan. Mechanically the car has been flawless. We have only had to replace a battery, oil and filters. The biggest drawback has been the length and turning radius making it sometimes difficult to park

  • I expected better from Honda - 2001 Honda Accord

It has been fine, until I made my last payment, I have had to have the motor mounts replaced (over $500!). Now some console lights go on and off and my fuel light doesnt work anymore and the dealer said they would have to pull everything apart and charge me to find out why it doesnt work.

I own a 01 Lx V6 coupe and my cousin has a 2000 TL. believe me the interior is very much alike leather and trim. Accord is the fun car to drive even though it lacked in speed, but after some basic modifications it can be real tough competitor with the 3.0liter SOHC 24valve

I have had my V6 Accord since she was brand new. I drive a LOT - nearly 30,000 miles per year, and I havent yet had a problem with this car. Even after putting diesel in the gas tank (gas stations fault) she just keeps on keepin on. The service department at the dealership has always been courteous and helpful when I take her in for scheduled maintenence. I have nothing bad to say about my car.

  • V6 coupe better than any domestic by far - 2001 Honda Accord
    By -

With gas prices so high Id get the V4 instead but the V6 can keep up with any domestic coupe. The ride quality is outstanding and as always its very reliable. Get the recalled transmission fixed (free at Honda) and the performance and already smooth ride improves. This is my 3rd Accord in a row and until they disappoint me Ill keep on getting them.

I LOVE my car! V6 is v. smooth/ great pick up. Had it over 4years & have replaced a faulty dashlight & recently the altenator. B/c I do all service w/my dealer I was given "goodwill credit" & paid only for labor/they pd. for the part. I saved over $200.00! I WILL buy another honda. No troubles in the NH winter, love the climate control. Acceleration is v. smooth, dash layout is v. ergonomic. I recommend this car to anyone looking for reliability, safety & an all around great car.
