Model Overview:

Few vehicles from overseas manufacturers have garnered as much respect in North America as the Honda Accord. It hasn't achieved this status by being glamorous, sexy or thrilling. Instead, Honda just seems to have its finger on the pulse of what Americans value most. Take an Accord for a spin and you'll find it to be comfortable, roomy, intelligently engineered and easy to drive. It's also backed by strong resale value and a solid reputation for reliability.

You'll find that certain competing sedans and coupes are quicker, more prestigious or simply less expensive than the Accord. What's special about the Honda Accord, though, is its completeness. It scores well across a broader range of categories than practically any family-friendly sedan or coupe on the market. When examined from this holistic standpoint, it's easy to see why the Accord has become an automotive icon and remains one of our editors' top recommendations.

I bought my 2004 Accord new off the showroom floor. I initially bought it because of the fuel economy and maintenance history but I love driving this car. It handles great and is very low maintenance. It now has 105,000 miles on it and I still love it. The only unexpected issue I had was a headlight replacement which was relatively inexpensive. Every time I take it in for service, the service technicians try to sell me a new one because they have such a demand for used Accords. My 64" husband doesnt like it because he doesnt fit well in the passenger seat, but he rarely drives it.

  • Honda Reliability - 1996 Honda Accord

Owned this car for 5 years so far, and it has been as reliable a car as I have ever owned. Repairs since 78k miles have included, new exhaust, timing belt and water pump, alternator, clutch master cylinder, several CV joints, horn malfunction, plus general maintenance. Overall this is typical for any car over a 70k mile span of time. The EX four cylinder has enough pep, but is not a performance engine. Manual transmission helps extract the most juice out of this powerplant. The interior is spartan but enjoyable. Instrument layout is intuitive and easy to use. Legroom in front is surprisingly good for tall people. I love this car. It isnt flashy, but its reliable day in and day out.

  • Radio Problem - 2003 Honda Accord

The background display has gone out and no clock display. Seat belt light stays on continually. Other owners at different websites have reported the same problem. Very expensive to fix. I also own a 2009 Accord and I think I better sell it before problems arise. It feels less reliable than 2003.

  • Good car-minor faults - 2003 Honda Accord

For the money, this is a great car. It is a huge upgrade from the 2002 model we had. Honda seems to add just the features we thought were lacking, like heated seats and split HVAC controls. We considered both the VW Passat and the small Mercedes sedan- both are great cars and the Accord come pretty close for a lot less money. That said, there are a few issues. One is that there is a severe wheel shake problem during braking. At first I thought the wheels were loose- its that bad and I havent gotten used to it; it freaks me out ever time I brake hard. The other is the bland- ugly even- styling.

Bravo HONDA! This is my first time driving a non "USA" auto makers car. I will never be back. Hello GM, Ford etc wake up and smell the new car smell. Thier cars beat you hands down, in bang for the buck all the way around. Id only bought new Fords before this and used GMs now itll be Honda, Toyota, Lexus or Accura. Why drive crap when you can drive quality.

  • Great car, except... - 2004 Honda Accord

I fell in love with my 2004 Accord EXV6 after the test drive. This is my second Accord and better than my 1998 Accord. I have one gripe. In the second week after delivery, the transmission leaked and slipped. I had the car towed to the dealer and it was fixed. Since then, I have no problems and I am happy with my car!

This is by far the best vehicle I have ever owned, the most reliable, plenty of pep, much more than expected, and the dealership is still a pleasure to work with even out-of-warranty. My biggest complaint ever was the sunglasses storage spring broke. Dealership replaced whole *console*, not just spring. Two repairs on master brake cylinder from Honda voluntary recalls, handled by dealership along with other routine maintenance without even having to ask. Planning to drive the car to "death", should be a long while then look into another. Wish I had bought one years ago; they are a tad expensive, but well worth it!

  • Typical Honda! - 2003 Honda Accord

I love this car! Reliable, good feel for the road. My only issue is that it doesnt have more low-end torque (but it kinda works for this light- weight vehicle). Ive absolutely "blown away" vehicles with more horsepower ratings like the altima and maxima, and gave mustang GTs a run for their money as well! When the engine is "broken in" it has a nice "growl" to it when you push it. Give it 20-30 more horses and it would be the perfect car for this segment!

I bought this car in high school, my senior year and sold my truck because I was going to college. It had 120,000 on it when I bought it. Now, 5 years later it has 356,000 miles! Although the A/C has broke and it burns a little oil, those have been my only big problems. I still own this car and drive it daily 60 miles to and from work. It has served me well.
