This Year's Model Updates:

As the model was fully redesigned for the 2003 model year, there are only a few changes on the 2004 Honda Accord. Availability of side curtain airbags has been expanded this year to four-cylinder EX models -- standard on those with leather, optional on cars with a cloth interior. All four- and six-cylinder EX models equipped with a leather interior now have XM Satellite Radio with three months of free service as standard equipment. And as with all Honda cars this year, a new seatbelt reminder system is standard. Accord models meeting California's stringent Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (PZEV) standards -- all four-cylinder sedans equipped with automatic transmission -- will also be sold in the states of New York, Maine, Vermont and Massachusetts.

Pros:
  • Tight build quality, quiet cabin, refined and powerful engines, reputation for quality and durability, high crash test scores.

  • WOW - 2004 Honda Accord

This is the best Honda I ever owned and this is my fourth one. It is very well built and the performance is excellent. I dont like the seatbelt bells but they are probably for my own good. There is some torque steer but thats what you get with fast front wheel drive cars. The 6 speed shifter is very smooth and the engine is very responsive. The ride is smooth and the gas mileage is good as long as you dont continually accelerate too fast which is hard to avoid with this fun car. The sound system is great especially with the satelite radio. I heartily recommend this car.

  • Brakes and rotors: F = Ma -dness? - 2004 Honda Accord

This car has a host of outstanding features--excluding the ABS and hydraulics. The rotors seem to degrade very quickly: The first owner was able to wipe them out after 25M! I had had the rotors resurfaced (twice!), but there are still problems, probably because they are so thin now. Now I cant bed-in the brakes, which could mean trouble on the freeway or in dense city traffic because of the huge stopping distance.

  • Most reliable car I have ever owned - 2004 Honda Accord

I presently have 59,000 miles on this car and it has never broke down once. The only thing that it has had is a new set of brake pads which you could expect at 50 to 60 thousand miles. Honda only requires its oil to be changed every 10,000 miles. It gets great gas mileage for a 4 banger, about 28 mpg on the average. I have never owned such a reliable car as this one. I hope to keep it for a long time to come. It has a comfortable ride, handles well, and takes care of my pocketbook. Glad I bought this car instead of another Mopar.

This car has to be the best midsized car I ever drove. Good performance combined with good styling and handling makes this car a dream of driveing.

I have had the honda for about a year now and I love it. Have had an accord before and various american cars. Quality of Japanese cars is so much better. If you have only had american cars look at consumer reports on japanese cars. They are bullet proof! I had my other accord for 10 years with only maintence done on it. Never had problems with it like my american cars.

  • Give Me A Brake - 2004 Honda Accord

Loved the car until they told me my driving habits attributed to the rear brake pads needing replacing after 15k. Additionally, front rotors turned due to pulsation. Ive had several cars that I drive the same, so why are my habits or city driving an issue when it comes to replacing pads already. I think thats a product fault or defect. My odyssey or corolla didnt suffer from my bad driving.

I have owned it for 2 years. It is 5 years old now. The leather on the driver seat has a small crack, and in a door, there is a ringing noise from a loose screw. Other than that, Im impressed, I have had to veer out of trouble once and it handled superbly. Mileage is great, it is maintenance friendly. The cockpit is set up well and stylish, which will add to its longevity. The lumbar support is great. Leather is the way to go for ease of cleaning. The rims are stylish, and easy to clean without being flashy. The stereo is great with the 6 disc changer. For this particular year, I think the Accord beats out most of its competitors. Camry I think is good too, just preference.

  • First Car Ever - 2004 Honda Accord

I just purchased my EX V6 Coupe about a week ago. I am in love. Absolute love! Although this is my very first car Ive gotten since I am 16, I am sure it is one of the best cars. My parents have owned a Jeep Laredo, M- class Mercedes, 330ci BMW, 745i BMW, X5 BMW, Lexus SUV, and various BMW convertibles. This car is nimbler then all of them. It feels as tight and sporty as all of the BMWs and it is as fun to drive as the convertibles. The smooth ride is above and beyond that of the X5 and 330ci combined. I recommend this car to anyone who is looking to purchase a quality, fun, and perfect vehicle. Young or old, it suits everyone.

The overall built quality is better than the previous generations, and it is now more like its main competetor the Camry. The engine is more relaxed especially when the air-con is on. However, I find that the fitting of the interior parts is poor: my car is plaqued with squeaks and rattles. This problem is exaggerated by the quietl interior and firm suspension. The second point is the slow down-shifting of the auto box. It seems to move to the top gear (or overdrive?) as soon as possible. I wished I had test driven the Mazda 6 (or even a 3 with 2.3 l).
