This Year's Model Updates:

Following a complete redesign last year, the 2009 Honda Accord carries over unchanged, though the V6's official engine output is up a smidge after further testing revealed slightly more power than previously measured.

Pros:
  • Ample passenger space, high-quality interior, above-average steering feel, high resale value, available coupe body style.
Cons:
  • Intrusive road noise, button-heavy center stack, some find seats uncomfortable.

  • So Far, So Good - 2009 Honda Accord

We bought this car as the least expensive option that satisfied all our needs (wants). Mechanically, its been A+ so far. We got the standard for one last "hooraw" before we qualify for AARP. Its fun to drive, but now we remember why we went to an automatic to begin with (hard to hold your coffee and switch gears at the same time). Gas mileage is actually better than advertised, but were relatively light-footed drivers. Have one "cheap plastic" finish issue on the interior and a couple "question marks" on the trunk set-up, but the suspension is tight and takes country roads beautifully. I would have liked the universal remote, but you had to get the next package for $1K more.

  • This is a Honda product? - 2009 Honda Accord

This particular year (2009)and model (Accord EX-L V6) have quality issues that have yet to be addressed by Honda, and the sheer frustration is enough to make me never buy another Honda because of these unresolved quality issues with the brakes. I purchased a new car, not some problematic use car... People researching the 2009 Honda Accord should keep this in mind when deciding whether or not to purchase, you have been warned!!!

This car rides like its heavier, with a much tighter and more responsive steering system than my old Accord. The comfort level in this vehicle has also improved. The looks of the interior also looks like its a nicer vehicle than before. I dont expect the quality is any better but it sure looks it. I think the quality is A #1.

  • Horrible Car! - 2009 Honda Accord

Buying a 2009 Accord has been the worst purchase Ive made in the last 20 years. Several days after bringing the car home, I started hearing a loud wind noise through the drivers side door when you drove at freeway speeds. After 5 trips to the dealership and having it be in the shop for 2 weeks, I was essentially told, Id just have to deal with the noise. Wonderful! Then at 2000 miles the brakes have started to make a grinding noise, oh and Ive noticed a vibrating sound coming from the dash (which I hit with my hand to stop), not to mention the loud clicking the CD player makes. Essentially this car is a mess, save yourself some money and go buy a Geo Metro.

  • Fifth Accord - 2009 Honda Accord

This 2009 Accord EX-L 4 is the fifth Accord we have owned. The one traded in was a 2004 Accord EX-L and it was the best Accord of the previous group. Although I have only had the new one just over a week, it is much more refined than the 2004. Each Accord we have owned has always been more refined than the previous model and the 2009 is no exception. The fit and finish are superb! It drives with a great feel to it... similar to my 1999 BMW. I look forward to many happy miles with this car.

Fortunately the sound system is decent, as it helps to drown out all the road and wind noise. What happened to the sound deadening on this car? Depending on road surface, it can be hard to carry on a conversation. Despite the fussy- looking dash and console, all controls work well. Ride and handling are sound, and the 4-cylinder is more than adequate while delivering decent mileage. Purchased on Honda name and reputation, but overall this car has been a bit of a letdown.

I bought a new 2009 Honda Accord in Omaha NE. Gave it to my daughter for her birthday and She took it to college in San Antonio. The seat will not lock in 2 oclock position well and sometimes just drops back while driving; and the brakes squeal, all before 2,000 miles. She took to Gunn Honda in San Antonio and they said the brake noise was from vibration (duh) and wouldnt fix it. The seat wouldnt misbehave at that time. I dont blame the original dealer. Honda Customer Service was not helpful and tried to tell me the seat dropping back was a feature. My initial impression is that the car is of poor quality and that Honda will not fix it. All this in under 2,000 miles.

  • Too much road noise - 2009 Honda Accord

Had this car for 24 hours and I have buyers remorse due to horrible road noise coming into the car. It doesnt happen on every pavement but on most. The noise is just horrible. The pavement near the dealer is new and so the noise was not noticeable there. I dont recommend this car for the price.

We have 3 Hondas - although this one looks great - couple of things: road noise (so loud yesterday that I couldnt hear my son on cell) - I know that road surface plays into it, but... really. Brakes squeal, seats are ok - but being short it is hard for me to find the optimal position for steering wheel without it blocking out speedo. Also, passenger airbag light comes on intermittently and some engine lights too. Keep thinking about that Bimmer... will give this a few more months.
