Following a complete redesign last year, the 2009 Honda Accord carries over unchanged, though the V6's official engine output is up a smidge after further testing revealed slightly more power than previously measured.

Pros:
  • Ample passenger space, high-quality interior, above-average steering feel, high resale value, available coupe body style.
Cons:
  • Intrusive road noise, button-heavy center stack, some find seats uncomfortable.

  • bad brakes - 2009 Honda Accord
    By -

have had hondas for 28 years yet my new 2009 am not happy. took car in for 15,000 service and was told rear brakes, front wheel drive car, are shot and need to be replaced. front brakes, which take brunt of braking, are fine. 16,000 miles for new pads and rotors???? never had this before. was told honda has had big problems with this last two years. reliable company cheapening car to prop up profits, never thought honda would do this

  • Honda = poor engineering - 2009 Honda Accord

I love the aesthetics of this car & it was the main push for the purchase. Big mistake for not doing research on Accord problems because my brakes are worn down & stuck with a $200 bill to replace them. Seriously Honda?! Not even 9000 miles & this is normal? Honda has been very disappointing, and I would still buy Toyota with the recall over this piece of junk scamming their customers money.

  • Transmission slippage - 2009 Honda Accord

Over all I am happy to have bought my Accord Coupe V6. Its a fun car, handles good, lots of power. Recently though, Ive been aggravated by the transmission slipping in and out of gear when when Im trying to maintain a constant speed on the highway. I can actually see the tach. spike 200-400 rpms and then fall back into gear, with an accompanying pulse of acceleration. Its very annoying. The dealership seems to be avoiding the possibility that this problem exists and recently I spoke with the owner of the carwash I use and his accord and four other owners hes spoken to have had similar transmission problems - some worse than mine. I fear an ugly battle with Honda in my future.

  • Disappointed - 2009 Honda Accord

Car was ten months 2900 miles. Three cylinders had to be replaced! Ride very rough as if one were in a truck. The passengers felt every bump. This bumpiness and jostling made it impossible for a ride of any length or distance The car had rattles in it. The dashboard panel was confusing. If one pressed the remote open the door too hard or long, the sun/moon roof opened. An immense annoyance and risk to the interior of the car. Headlights had to be manually turned on Fuel mileage very poor, about twelve miles per gallon. Do not purchase a six cylinder engine of this car. The 2009 Honda Accord is a great disappointment. In sum, do not buy this 2009 Honda Accord

  • Net + Over Prior Models - 2009 Honda Accord

This car has exceeded all my expectations and is an improvement over prior models. Car is larger than prior models and it feels it. Seats offer a firm comfortable ride. Leg rooms seems very adequate. Rear seating area is quite large. The display panel looks complicated at first but once I got familiar, its been very functional. Visibility is quite improved over prior model. Hands free Bluetooth system is an extremely nice feature. I have lossed a couple MPGs but given the cars size the mileage is still very good. Adequate trunk space. Traction control makes the car very reliable to drive is slippery conditions. Road noise level is very disappointing.

  • Nice car, great mileage, couple issues - 2009 Honda Accord
    By -

Bought a new Honda with 500 miles (semi demo). I love the car so far. Weve owned a 2003 Accord since it was new, 98k miles, and only had to replace the AC compressor(recently). This 09 is great, here are a couple issues. The brakes squeak! My dads 08 does as well. Honda says its the #1 complaint with the car and Honda Engineering is working on a resolution. The glove box does not line up correctly when closed. The interior noise level is a little high, especially the noise from the trunk area coming into the cabin. Other than that, its an excellent car, tight build, great mileage, nice looks.

  • noisy, uncomfortable overpriced ride - 2009 Honda Accord
    By -

Had the car 8 months. The title tells most of it. The car rides like an empty 2 ton truck with similar comfort. It is so noisy at cruising speed the xm music largely worthless & not worth the money. For $30,000. I feel Ive be had. The gas mileage far below ad claims. Its being replaced ASAP

  • 2009 Honda Accord Failure - 2009 Honda Accord

I recently purchased a 2009 Accord LX-P because of my pleasure with a 2003 Accord I own. I must say the drivers seat for a six footer is the most uncomfortable I have ever used. My back hurts after 15 minutes of driving the vehicle. I will try a seat cushion and hope it helps. I test drove the car before purchasing and did not notice the discomfort. But after driving it more I now notice. It feels like a lumbar support is engaged but the car does not have lumbar support.

  • 2009 Honda Accord EX-L without Navi. - 2009 Honda Accord

I have had my Accord for a few months now. I honestly dont know what everyone complains about. I drive pretty rough (college kid) and my MPG is always around 25. When I drive home it is nothing for me to get 30+ MPG. GREAT gas mileage on mine! There was a rattle in the sunroof, brakes squeal after a few months. Notified Honda, USA about it. Both suddenly stopped after a week. Backseat is very comfy, but driver seat can take its toll on me when driving home. VERY smooth ride, for those that care the exhaust is pretty good, leather is a good quality leather unlike Hyundai, the build quality is... wow amazing! I would def. buy another Honda (this is my first one). Paid $26,500.

  • Very nice car - 2009 Honda Accord

I waited till I had about 1,500 miles on my car before evaluating it, and I can say, it is still my favorite car that Ive ever owned. I had a 1994 Integra before this, and this is worlds apart in comfort, ride, noise (lack of), and style. It doesnt corner like a 2700 pound integra, but it still handles better than most 3500 pound cars. I got a manual, and its the smoothest one Ive ever used. I was surprised to find that the gear ratios for the manual are similar to the automatic, so theres not much difference in performance. The only "fit and finish" problem I have is the trunk lid is little lower on one side.
