This Year's Model Updates:

As the model was fully redesigned for the 2003 model year, there are only a few changes on the 2004 Honda Accord. Availability of side curtain airbags has been expanded this year to four-cylinder EX models -- standard on those with leather, optional on cars with a cloth interior. All four- and six-cylinder EX models equipped with a leather interior now have XM Satellite Radio with three months of free service as standard equipment. And as with all Honda cars this year, a new seatbelt reminder system is standard. Accord models meeting California's stringent Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (PZEV) standards -- all four-cylinder sedans equipped with automatic transmission -- will also be sold in the states of New York, Maine, Vermont and Massachusetts.

Pros:
  • Tight build quality, quiet cabin, refined and powerful engines, reputation for quality and durability, high crash test scores.
Cons:

The EX adds enough features to make it worth the price premium over the LX. 5- speed is a joy to use, although the i- VTEC peaks at 5,500rpm. Interior is, far and away, the best in class. Teenagers like the look; adults think it is a sports car. Also enjoyable is the 30mpg in the city and 37 on the highway (EPA says 26/34). The resale is also predicted to be well above average for this segment.

After owning 1 month and 1,000 miles on my 04 Accord V6 Sedan all I can say is this one is definitely "A KEEPER". I mean its a no brainer Its no wonder its been rated Motor Trends one of the "10 BEST CAR OF THE YEAR" and consumer rates it the #1 HIGHEST RATING in crash test performance with the side curtain airbag standard on all EX V6.

This is a great car. My previous car was a BMW325ci coupe, so the Honda had a lot to live up to. I immediately replaced the 16" wheels and tires with 17" wheels and better tires. This has made a big difference in handling and driving enjoyment. The stock wheels and tires, in my opinion, are inadequate. I am not speaking as a "motorhead"; but, someone who simply wants a better driving experience. I admit the BMW had a lot of nice features that I got used to and miss; however, I have good value/performance for my money with this car. See improvements. Overall I am very happy with this car.

The Accord is not only reliable but a competent, well equipped car for everyday commuting and travel and for the occasional sporty run. Handling could be better on aggressive manuevers but still is surprisingly adequate.

  • Been an OK car - 2004 Honda Accord

I purchased this for a commuter car. I wanted reliable transportation and a fuel efficient vehicle. It has never left me on the side of the road, but has had some issues. I did all the Honda recommended maintenance and during my 60000 check up, it was determined that the transmission needed replacing. Not good, if anything this part should never fail. I had other mechanical issues after the new xmission, Ill call it mechanic induced faults. I wasnt happy with the service dept. responsiveness. The front rotors have been turned down 3 times due to warpage. My gas mileage average is 27mpg, not much better(+2) then my V6 Bonneville I traded in. Battery died after 4 yrs, Im OK with this.

  • Best Car in Class - 2004 Honda Accord

This is my second Honda Accord, I have owned 5 Honda products (Acura Legend, TL, Odyssey are others). This car is solid with a great ride and a bit of sportiness for a sedan of this class. The acceleration is what really stands out - step on the gas (regular!) and this car flies. TI believe it is quicker than my 2008 Acura TL off the line. Im in sales and used the car to transport customers and factory people. Plenty of room in the front and back seats and the trunk. Only two minor complaints. 1. Gas pedal is a little too sensitive. Takes some getting used to. 2. Road noise is slightly high. But I was driving an Acura Legend before this and got spoil

  • Love the power and ride - 2004 Honda Accord

Ive had this car for over 5 years with 68K mileage. No major mechanical problems. The car radio Headunit backlight did go dead the the dealer, replaced it. This was a TSB from Honda to all dealerships. Their is some road noise but thats because the car has a lower clearance than Toyotas. The lower clearance gives honda a better handling and feel of the road where the Camry feels like you are floating going all over the road. For a V6 this car gets good gas mileage, 18-19 city and 29-30 highway. The fauk leather in the drivers seat does where down and stretch but no cracks.

  • Best car Ive had yet - 2004 Honda Accord

Very clean inside and out cheap to maintain. I was going to get a brand new 2015 Hyundai Elantra and Im happy I didnt this Honda is %100 better, I bought about 1 month ago with 128,000 miles and its still like New. Ive driven a lot of cars and this one is my all time favorite and cant wait to have for years to come. Ill write more when I get close to 200,000 miles. Happy Honda Guy guesswho100k

  • Best car for the money, period - 2004 Honda Accord
    By -

I love my Accord. I put on about 30,000 miles a year. I am around 155,000 currently. No major mechanical issues at all. Major cost are 50k, 100k and 150k scheduled maintenance at the Honda dealer. Brakes lasted 75k miles before replacement. Shocks lasted 140k before replacement. Still have orig. exhaust which is unheard of in NH. Very comfortable, sporty ride and performance. Perfect mix of sport and comfort. Liked much better then Camry or Maxima. Do not waste your money on a 3-series BMW! Accord V6 with leather - cant be beat.

  • Would do it all over again! - 2004 Honda Accord

Thought you may be interested in a review from someone who has owned this car for 6 yrs. Just turned 204,000 miles. Only problem was the radio that was replaced by Honda. Replaced the alternator at 190,000 miles. Other than that, just normal maintenance. Lots of highway driving, getting 30 to 32 mpg. Brakes last far longer than any other car Ive owned. Cant believe the car still runs so well. I keep asking my service man (independent) when the car might die and he keeps saying not anytime soon. The 4 cylinder doesnt have the initial burst that you would like, but the low cost of maintenence and the reliability more than make up for it. Would highly recommend this car.
