Model Overview:

Few vehicles from overseas manufacturers have garnered as much respect in North America as the Honda Accord. It hasn't achieved this status by being glamorous, sexy or thrilling. Instead, Honda just seems to have its finger on the pulse of what Americans value most. Take an Accord for a spin and you'll find it to be comfortable, roomy, intelligently engineered and easy to drive. It's also backed by strong resale value and a solid reputation for reliability.

You'll find that certain competing sedans and coupes are quicker, more prestigious or simply less expensive than the Accord. What's special about the Honda Accord, though, is its completeness. It scores well across a broader range of categories than practically any family-friendly sedan or coupe on the market. When examined from this holistic standpoint, it's easy to see why the Accord has become an automotive icon and remains one of our editors' top recommendations.

  • Honda 2002 Accord V6 - never again - 2002 Honda Accord

Accord 2002 V6 is apparently a lemon with regard to transmissions - 385 reported failures around the 110,000/120,000 mile mark. No recall because its not a safety issue, and no class action (YET!) Timing chain went at 100,000 - $1,500 - also a "known issue". Paint is starting to fail - also a known issue. How many known issues with this vehicle do I have to know about? Im looking at $4,000 for a new transmission. Weve been a 2-Honda family for the last 15 years. We will not even be a 1-Honda family ever again.

I love my Honda. As I told my granddaughter before I let her drive it, wehen you step on the gas it goes and when you step on the brake it stops. It is a neat car. Great styling. Seven years old and I still love it.

  • So far so good! - 2009 Honda Accord

Have driven the car only 1500 miles and its OK.Nothing exciting, just OK but thats Honda. Reliability is why we all buy them! Now to the brake problem that everyone is stating, mostly rear pads? Talked to American Honda today and they said a class action had started and they will be in touch with us all to fix the problem. Hope that helps!

  • Worst seats - 2009 Honda Accord
    By -

The accord always starts even after Ive let it sit for ages. The problem is that I let it sit for ages because the thing is so darned uncomfortable to drive. The head restraints are miserable, they push my head forward and cause intense neck pain, while the lumbar support just makes my legs go numb from putting so much pressure on my back. I sincerely regret the purchase of the accord. Seriously, I chose to ride my bike on a 20 mile commute nearly every day this winter in snow and sub- zero temperatures because that was more comfortable than the seats in the accord.

  • Great Car - 1993 Honda Accord

I bought this car at the end of 2002 with 92,000 miles on it. It was an extremely reliable car. I drive round trip 72 miles a day to work. I always said I would drive it till it died. It was a great car for the last 8 years and I just traded it in on a 2007 EX-L Accord. My 93 had 232,000 miles on it and still going. Had begun to replace things over the last few years - but that was to be expected. Got 180,000 miles out of the original clutch! AC / Heat still worked. Great, dependable car. One of the reasons I traded it, was the newer Accords are roomier and my kids are growing up and needing more leg room. I hated to see my 93 Accord go, but so far I love the 2007 as well.

  • Rear Brake Problem Disappointing - 2008 Honda Accord
    By -

Ive had this Accord since new, and have enjoyed the car very much. However, today at 20k mile service I learned the rear brakes already need replacing. After reading many similar complaints on the web, this is obviously a factory defect as rear brakes shouldnt wear out before the front, and especially not at 20k miles. This is extremely frustrating and disappointing. I bought Honda for quality, and learning this is a known issue for so long without any recall to correct is disappointing as well. Continued loyalty to brand has ended.

Great car when you run it on cruise. I recently bought one with 120k miles on it, very clean from inside, runs great, like the sunroof, cruise, spoiler on the back, nice handling etc. This car is not a racing car and takes time to pick up but once on the road and in D4 (auto)it runs smooth and no hiccups. I like the way the car handling, is there any room for improvement? yes! They could have made the seats a little more comfortable, lumbar support and power driver seat is a steal. Its not a luxury car but if you need a daily commuter or A to B this is the best deal.I got an avg of 27 mpg on highway with a speed of 70-80 mph and city around 24. Fabric- seats 94 held themselves really well.

  • Unhappy Honda Owner - 2009 Honda Accord

This is my 3rd Honda, 1st that Ive purchased new and the last. I loved this car when I first purchased and shortly after, I began to hate it. Believe it or not its excellent on gas. I commute back and forth to work for a week on a full tank. After six months I had to change the back brakes, which the dealership considers normal. NOT! Shortly after, I was still having issues and they replaced an axle. Five more months have passed and I replaced them again. The stirring wheel also shakes when braking. I HATE THIS CAR and would not advise this to any first time buyer or any buyer for that matter. Im currently searching for something else.

  • Update to Second Honda - 2007 Honda Accord

Ok I have had my car for 3 weeks and very impressed with the fuel economy. I have filled my car twice since I got my car getting 425 miles to a tank with combined driving. Avg. 30.1 mpg. It feels nice to get over 290 mile per tank like i did on my 2001 millennia. Motor is very peppy, stick is still very slick.

I bought this car in Feb. 2003 and I have to say that it is by far the best purchase I made. I use it every day to go to work, averaging 28 mpg (hwy + city). After over 100,000 mi I cannot complain of anything worth mentioning. The interior is simple and yet functional, Overall, a great car.
