This Year's Model Updates:

Freshened exterior styling debuts on the 2001 Honda Accord, with a more aggressive-looking front fascia and hood and a new taillight design. Honda also ups the safety features list, making dual-stage, dual-threshold front airbags standard and side airbags available on all models. All Accords now either meet or exceed California's low-emission vehicle (LEV) standards (some Accords meet ULEV standards, and one model sold in California is rated SULEV). Improvements aimed at reducing road and wind noise have been made, while EX models get a standard in-dash six-disc CD changer, and all V6 models come with traction control. Midyear, a DX four-banger equipped with a special value package debuted, adding an automatic transmission, air conditioning, a CD player, floor mats, fake wood interior accents and special exterior trim.

Pros:
  • Great build quality, spacious interior, peppy yet clean engines, comfortable seats, excellent resale value, reputation for bulletproof reliability.
Cons:
  • Everybody drives one, personality of Al Gore, taut highway ride.

  • I Love My Honda - 2001 Honda Accord

I Love My Honda. I only wish I could have owned this car sooner. I get 29 mpg hwy. faithfully. The only work Ive had done is regular oil changes. I have the ex model totally loaded and I love the luxury. The only bad choise I made was the low profile wheels and tires. Ive decided they are for people that have time to drive 5 mph over every dip, railroad track and bump. I have already replaced two tires with side wall bumps. Other than that(and I chose the big rims and tires) I wouldnt trade it for the world. ( Thank God the PT crusier was too over priced when I need a new car)

  • Accord- major transmission problems - 2001 Honda Accord

I have always purchased Hondas and had good experiences. However, after replacing two transmissions at 39k miles, I am very disappointed. Honda is covering the cost but it is a major hassle.

Well designed with impeccible build quality. Super value for the money. You can pay more for a car but you wont get much more for you hard earned dollars!

  • Sporty and SAFE! - 2001 Honda Accord

I was in a major accident in my 01 Accord coupe in July 07. Someone ran a stop sign and plowed into me going about 30 miles/hr. Although the car was totaled, I walked away without a scratch and did not even have soreness or a headache the next day! In all honesty, I did not buy the car for anything other than fun and sportiness. I am so glad I did though. I am convinced I would have been hurt in another car (the other driver was non-seriously injured). I felt so safe and good about my car, I went out and bought a new Accord, and refused to look at anything else! What a great car.

  • A Nice Reliable Car - 2001 Honda Accord

I just took over my moms Accord. Its a pretty nice car. The seats are reasonably comfortable and its got a decent sound system and good gas mileage. I feel very safe in this car, and I use it as my daily driver and commute car. Its pretty fun to drive, but Im coming from driving a mini- van, so I dont suppose my vote means much in that area.

  • No more warm and fuzzies - 2001 Honda Accord

2001 Accord isnt up to snuff. Transmission problem after 64000 miles. Dealer says bad transmissions in 2000, 2001, and 2002 models. Warranty extended because of the problem. Remanufactured tranny put in yesterday, only to arrive at dealer for pick up to be told the "new" tranny is faulty too. Told 1 out of 6 Honda transmissions fail. Also had problem with oil pan recall. Needed breaks at 55,000, other repairs too soon in the life of the car. Could have bought a clunker with no loan and brought it for in for same amount of repairs. Ive lost the warm and fuzzies I had for Honda and my Accord specifically.

  • No real problems yet - 2001 Honda Accord

I bought my 2001 Accord EX in 2000, and currently have about 46,000 miles on it, so far no major problems. Paint on the rear bumper is scratched / pealing, but I dont know if that is a result of living in NYC or poor manufacturing. Additionally the rear seat teather cover for carseats came off, the rubber started to come off around one of the rear windows, and the clutch was sticking during cold starts. All problems were fixed free of charge (I got it all done before my warrenty expired) and I havent had any serious problems at all. So far, I must say I luv this car (although my 4 cyl. can use a little more punch).

You cant go wrong with the 2001 Accord EX-V6 Coupe. The engine is powerful and smooth ... requiring minimal maintenance and providing good economy. The transmission is top-notch, also delivering great performance. Ive had no trouble with the car at all. My only dig would be that the car feels a bit less solid than it could ... keeping it from "best car" honors. However, Im sure that my Honda will be in service with fewer repairs much longer than the "best car".

8 years of well balanced performance. Great drivability, great reliability, low cost maintenance (only regularly scheduled), excellent comfort & safety features. Just replaced tires, brakes & 1 headlight + 1 tailight bulbs.
