  • 155,000 miles - No major engine problems - 1994 Geo Prizm

This car is built to last. I began driving a 1994 Geo Prizm in December, 2002. The car had 140,000 miles on it and had never had any major engine problems. The car was driven 80 miles into the city of Chicago and back, 6 days a week for 5 years, and the car is still running strong. 1 fender-bender, no damage.

Ive really enjoyed this car and have had no major problems with it. Its never stranded me and its run very well. Ive only had to replace the alternator twice. It has a cute look to it and I like how the back seat folds down. I can actually put big things in my little car!

I bought this car based on my previous satisfactory experience with Toyota Corollas, on which this car is based. I bought it at 89,000 miles and it now has 139,500 on the odometer. The only expenses I had to make on the car, other than routine maintenance and tune-ups, were brake jobs front and rear. I experienced a cracked door handle and a broken radio knob. Also, the paint on the front end of the hood came off at some spots, and I observed this on several 1994 models. I guess the car needs new shocks. The car is so reliable that I plan to keep it until it turns 200K miles.

This car was amazing. I say was, because someone was kind enough to total it for me right before Christmas. After 10 years & 180,000 miles, it was still nearly perfect. The only repairs during that time were a fuel filter & a few rotors. You could hardly hear the engime run. I had planned on the car & I going out together but it wasnt in the card. Its the best car for the $$ out there. Foreign technology for a domestic price. You dont get the resale value of a Toyota but you dont pay the price either. Im getting a 2001 tomorrow, identical to my 1994.

I bought this car used at 64,000 miles (after owning a Geo Storm and never having any trouble with that vehicle at 120,000 miles) and have had to do nothing but routine maintenance. Im now at 125,000 and could not ask for a more reliable car. This vehicle really holds up over the long term with little maintenance and a lot of reliability.

Great little car. It was the first "new" car I ever bought with 52K miles on it. Ive put 68K on it since the purchase. The handling, creature comforts and overall performance has been outstanding. Negatively speaking, I did have to replace a master cylinder twice, at 65K and 112K, and at 115K the starter and alternator both went out within 2 months of each other, so I decided to have the timing belt replaced when the alternator was replaced. The repair costs were not very expensive. All in all, I am very pleased with this car and plan on driving it for a few more years.

I bought this car in 96 with 20k on it. It now has 112k, and the ONLY thing that has ever gone out is the alternator at about 75k. And even that didnt strand me, gave me plenty of advance notice. Almost unreal reliability in this vehicle. At 100k I had brakes done and a tune-up, but not because it seemed to need either one, just seemed the thing to do! I have gone way past the suggested 60k timing belt change. Oops. I also drive a much newer Olds Aurora, but wont get rid of this little gem, its my transportation insurance!

BEEN AN EXCELLANT CAR, FEW MINOR PROBLEMS OVER THE YEARS, JUST HAD TO REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR, AND HAVE HAD TO REPLACE STARTER ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO. BATTERY ONLY LASTED 2AND1/2 YEARS 3RD DELCO BATTERY IN A ROW THAT DIDNT LAST LONG, SHAME ON DELCO. OTHER THAN THAT IT HAS BEEN AN EXCELLANT CAR AND HOPE TO GET ANOTHER THREE YEARS OUT OF IT.
