This Year's Model Updates:

This year, Ford introduces its version of the front-wheel-drive minivan. Designed to replace the archaic Aerostar, the Windstar offers a wealth of standard equipment. Dual airbags, antilock brakes, a four-speed automatic transmission and V6 power are just a few of the features included in the base price. The Windstar seats seven and has an integrated child seat: an attractive feature for the family with toddlers.

  • Very Reliable - 1995 Ford Windstar

Our Windstar has been the most reliable new car weve owned weve also owned Honda and Volvo. The only warranty item was a loose drivers seat rack, which they replaced. Since then, weve replaced some front suspension pieces at pretty low cost no other problems. Very comfortable on long trips.

Chemelon Blue ran to FL, to CA, to WA to MN to carry show dogs. Has Never needed anything but tires and front brakes and normal maintenance. Looking for a new one now with RH & LH sliding doors. Will keeep Blue for a daily driver.

  • Just say No - 1995 Ford Windstar

I should have known Id be in for trouble when I went to the Ford dealership and they were bragging that they had the busiest service dept. in town. Despite needing repairs throughout each year, it always needed several repairs to pass inspection - numerous tie rods, brakes replaced several times, "check engine" light comes and stays on every time it is driven over 50 miles on the highway due to something else giving way. Now when I go to the dealership for yet another repair, the sales staff look desperate for a sale.

  • Excellent purchase, until... - 1995 Ford Windstar

Our Windstar ran flawlessly for 5 years, since then the transmission was replaced twice and the engine once. After the engine was replaced it has been impossible to keep the A/C charged and running well. Otherwise, the past 2- 3 years have been relatively problem free. Its my wifes car. Now she says: No more Fords.

  • Quality is NOT Job 1 - 1995 Ford Windstar

After months of research, sold after 8 yrs(intended to keep much longer) and got a Honda Odyssey. US made engines look like 90yr old cardiac arrest patients on life support. Hondas is more like art work. We never expierenced the head gasket problem but after the research felt the odds were to great(esp if used for vactions/long trips). We were having trans problems. When it comes to head gasket&trans reliability, Id say its not a matter of if they develop, but when. I feel Ford cut corners to save a few bucks that end up costing consumers hunderds, even thousands. After owning 4 Fords, I suspect it extremely unlikely that I will ever own another.

  • Worst car ever purchased - 1995 Ford Windstar
    By -

Bought this car used in early 1997 with 38,000 miles on it. Had no idea what I was in for. By 68,000 (only 30,000 put on by me) I had replaced the computer, the head gasket and the transmission. By 72,000 miles, the transmission was gone again and the AC was blowing anti freeze into the car.

  • Crappy Ford Windstar - 1995 Ford Windstar

This is the most unreliable vehicle I have ever owned. At least once a year you have to sink major money (over $500) into it to keep it running.

  • dont buy one a 95 Windstar - 1995 Ford Windstar

This car leaves us on the side of the road regularly. The car feels good inside, rides rather smoothly, but is surprisingly unreliable for a drivetrain built on the Taurus mechanicals. Engine 3.8L has good acceleration but gulps gas.

  • My hunk of junk - 1995 Ford Windstar
    By -

I have at least one recall a year on the breaks, and trans every 2 years. Every one in my family hates the car. (Except my 6 year old son because when ever we go over a inch hole in the groud at 20mph the back of the car goes flying up) This car is just an over sized shopping cart with a 6cyl.

  • Unreliable - 1995 Ford Windstar
    By -

The interior and exterior are sharp and very functional. The accessories are acceptable and preform normally. The drive train and critical components are severly lacking reliability. I put 4 transmissions (3 under warranty), a replacment head gasket and a computer. These are common complaints about the 95/96 Windstar. New transmissions/engines are no better as there are design flaws. I didnt know you could buy the whole citrus tree.
