This Year's Model Updates:

This year, Ford introduces its version of the front-wheel-drive minivan. Designed to replace the archaic Aerostar, the Windstar offers a wealth of standard equipment. Dual airbags, antilock brakes, a four-speed automatic transmission and V6 power are just a few of the features included in the base price. The Windstar seats seven and has an integrated child seat: an attractive feature for the family with toddlers.

  • Unless you get a used up model, its awesome. - 1995 Ford Windstar

We got a used up model, so within a year it was knocking. But based on the service it gave us before it proved just how used up it was, it was awesome. Our Aunt Wilda and Uncle Ray had just gotten a new house the winter after we bought it and it powered up those hills with an aplomb equal to our 2003 F-150 with the 4.6 liter V8. It proved that pushrod technology wasnt totally dead, but it wasnt destined to stay as long as I would like. If it stayed as long as we would have desired, then we would have probably chosen to keep it over the F-150. We really loved it, until it died unfairly.

Taking good care of this car means a lotalthough Ford engines are not the most reliable, using in my car synthetic oil 5W-30(as the manufacturer recommends),saved me from troubles. I also have to mention the oil change every 3000 mi.Transmission fluid was also replaced every 15000 mi.Altogether this is not a race car(do not push it beyond its limits), but which demands the same careful maintenance as being one.

  • Better than Chevy - 1995 Ford Windstar

Traded an Astro van for my 95 Windstar. Windstar is better by far. More room, better comfort, handling and workmanship than Astro. No problems to date other than routine maint. Excellent for long trips. Pulls our camper with no problems.

Our Windstar has been the most reliable new car weve owned weve also owned Honda and Volvo. The only warranty item was a loose drivers seat rack, which they replaced. Since then, weve replaced some front suspension pieces at pretty low cost no other problems. Very comfortable on long trips.

We are the original owners of a Ford Windstar. In just the last month, in researching things for an additional minivan, I was surprised to find the 95 Windstar so poorly rated. Thru our 52,000 miles, Id say our ownership experience as been supurb overall. Part of that was a fine dealer that took care of the few, annoying minor bugs quickly and at no cost. They were: 1) A missing storage tray under the passenger seat upon delivery, 2) The ABS brake light turning on recall and, 3) The head gasket recall. Other than these things, our experience has been supurb.

  • Great Van - 1995 Ford Windstar

We have had great success with our Windstar. Very reliable. Weve only had to perform routine maintenance (oil, tires, brakes). Engine and transmission still respond well even after 90K miles. I will definately buy another Ford.
