This Year's Model Updates:

This year, Ford introduces its version of the front-wheel-drive minivan. Designed to replace the archaic Aerostar, the Windstar offers a wealth of standard equipment. Dual airbags, antilock brakes, a four-speed automatic transmission and V6 power are just a few of the features included in the base price. The Windstar seats seven and has an integrated child seat: an attractive feature for the family with toddlers.

I was previously a happy 1994 Ford Ranger. So I thought that the same good experience was in store when I bought the Windstar. Wrong!!! It left us stranded on 4 occassions. I replaced the transmission for $2K, the A/C system for $1.1K, and the computer and other ignition components for about another $1k. Why did Ford allow this wreck to leave the factory? I will never trust Ford again! Sorry, you only get one chance and you had your one chance twice. The Ranger gave you another "one chance." The Windstar was your last chance. Hello Toyota, so long Ford.

Now I find out, just purchased this car three weeks ago. With 98,000 miles seems to be doing good. After reading all these reviews, maybe I should sell while I have the chance. Like so many of you have stated, the head gasket has been replaced on this 95 also, i was told. Anybody like nice clean van????

drives like small auto, but rides like a luxury sedan...interior quad seating cozy...separate a/c nice comfort...ford has the best a/c on market, down right chilly... good travel vehicle, rear space and roof rack if you should need it. mirrored tinted windows a plus.24 mpg on the road.loaded w/ family running the a/c full blast. good buy wife loves it, so do the dogs....

  • The worst car ever built - 1995 Ford Windstar

My Windstar has ONLY 60,000 miles... The first engine last 37,500 miles... The second engine, is costing me $650.00 to replace the camshaft sensor due to ENGINE CHECK light. FORD should buy back this junk and compensate all owners.

We have had to replace the transmission and engine ALREADY! Brakes 4 times!

  • Green on the outside - 1995 Ford Windstar

My Windstar is green on the outside, but a lemon on the inside. In the first 75,000 miles it has had the transmission replaced, 2X - brake system replaced, wiper motor replaced 2X, power window motor replaced, the head gasket blew, it goes through tires about every 25,000 miles. The saving grace is that all but the tires were covered by warrantee, which Ford extended to 75,000 miles because of all of the difficulty we had with the car.

  • Never Again - 1995 Ford Windstar

After 5 years and thousands of dollars in repair, we have finally traded in our 95 Ford Windstar. The brakes had to be replaced every 6 months, the head gasket needed replacing twice, and more! Some of the flaws have been improved in more recent models, but I will never trust a Ford product again. This was a new model year & definitely one to be avoided.

  • The Money Pit - 1995 Ford Windstar

Three months after we purchased this van, the engine blew. Fortunately, Ford paid for the new engine due to a recall, but one year later the same thing happened (head gaskets blew) causing another $1500 in damage. Six months later, it appears to be happening again. For what weve paid in repairs ( plus the initial cost), we could have bought a brand new Honda Odessey or Toyota Sienna. Whenever I see a Windstar owner in a parking lot, I love to ask them how many engines THEYVE put in. We all appear to be in the same boat. The transmission is about ready to blow, too.

  • head gasket - again? - 1995 Ford Windstar
    By -

This van has undersized barkes which mean that they need to be replaced more often then they should. The head gasket blew 1, 2 now 3 times, and we are working on transmission #2. Not reliable. rear heat and air dont have temp control - on & off only.
