1992 Tempo GL/ 3.0L Vulcan & 5-speed mtx - 1992 Ford Tempo
By AJB - February 9 - 11:50 ami bought the car on Craigslist back in November 08, for $210. It has developed a leak in the gas tank [about a gallon a night] depending on how full it is, I have yet to repair it with some cheap quick job like a metal bracket and a load of JB Weld. The closing door electric track seat belts or what ever theyre called, both sound like the gears have rounded out, and dont come down and secure you, they just make a loud grinding noise for like 10 seconds after starting the car, the windows are crank/manual & the drivers side window feels like it has cheap plastic gears, and like the seat belt rounded out gears, the paint is faded baby blue, m.a.s is too small

It is a good first car - 1993 Ford Tempo
By Jess - October 11 - 7:04 pmI got this car for myself for by birthday two years ago for $500, it had over 144k miles on it, now it has 156k. The top gloss paint has since worn off and I have spent over $1500 on it to fix all the problems like the brake lines, starter, battery, e-brake cable, and exhaust system twice. The window in the back no longer works, and one of the power locks doesnt work. The liner in the trunk is no longer attached, there is a lot of rust. But it is good on gas and gets me where I need to be, although at 55 mph it gets the shakes, not good in the winter, it gets stuck a lot. But it has been Nice while Ive had it.

Still Going - 1992 Ford Tempo
By dave - August 27 - 10:15 amI bought this with 16000 miles on it, the only thing we have done besides the normal stuff is a water pump at about 55,000 miles. Ive put more money in tires on it then anything else, it just starts and goes. The cruise went out about 5 years ago, I have never bothered to do anything about it. The front windows do not roll up and down, it was to much work to fix so I have not. It is now using anti-freeze, but Im not sure where, I suspect the head gasket. I hope to give it to my son when he gets his license, we bought it just before he was born.

tempo from hell - 1993 Ford Tempo
By striker5799 - January 17 - 11:08 pmi rather like the tempo. it has started to break down on me though, it only has 55k on it. but i put it through alot. i put a custom air intake in it though. it actually made it feel like it had more power. it also has an awesome sound system with a sony xplod stereo, 4 aftermarket speakers, and two 12 inch subs in the trunk. my oil pan gasket is bad and causing tranny fluid to slightly leak through so i had to keep adding more though. and it vibrates alot over 60 mph. also alot of screws have worked their way out of their holes, mostly due to vibrations from my sound system. i dont think itl last me much longer though

1994 Ford Tempo GL - 1994 Ford Tempo
By Ben Kromminga - February 26 - 12:04 pmOn the whole my experience with the Tempo has been a pleasant one. The exterior styling is clean but on the bland side. Fuel economy has averaged 25 miles per gallon, good but not terrific. Inside everything is comfortable and well laid out. Taller drivers might find it a bit cozy. On the performance side, acceleration with the four banger is adequate but not likely to raise your heart rate. It seems the transmission has no idea what to do when you stomp on the gas until it has thought everything out for several moments. The Tempo handles securely but take it slow through the twisties. Over all, the Ford Tempos greatest strength is in low cost basic transportation.

Hay it was a free car - 1994 Ford Tempo
By Red Neck - January 18 - 7:15 amI got this car for free from a lady, it was in bad shape. I fix cars for fun, so I took the car. Well $1,950 later, and tons of cuts later and it runs as good as it is going to for the high high miles on it. When anyone ask me about my car I say "The only thing I pass is the gas station". I say for a high school kid this car would be good, it taken a beating keep on running, just dont run into the curb faster then 5 mph, youll bend the body.

Iffy! - 1992 Ford Tempo
By tom - June 29 - 4:15 pmGood vehicle, but Ford could have made better motors for the windows and locks (they went out in 2002).

Car has gotten me through a lot! - 1994 Ford Tempo
By Jelly Belly - May 19 - 3:18 pmIve had this car for two years now and it has been great so far. I bought it for $1200 with 156,000 kms. It now has 230,000 kms and its still going strong. The only problems Ive had with this car have been minor. Ive done regular oil changes. Tie rod ends have had to be replaced but the parts dont cost too much. Its gotten me to a lot of places. The experience Ive had with it is that its a reliable car. I mean its no luxury car by any means but it is a good cheap car. Never had any problems with it starting up in the cold weather either. Id recommend the Tempo for anyone looking for a cheap car.

It likes lots of attention..... - 1992 Ford Tempo
By Tempo Owner - November 17 - 2:00 amIve had the radiator hoses blow on me twice, the air conditioning has been repaired, the brakes have had work. only two of the four power door locks work, the trunk spring doesnt hold up the trunk, the heater core was just replaced as it was filling the passenger side floor full of antifreeze, oh and the cruise control went two weeks ago. The engine just goes and goes though and it has only stranded me once when the radiator hose blew (I was able to repair that myself) I bought it for 750 and Ive put about that much into it in repairs in a year. I think that the next time it screams for attention Ill send it to the bone yard instead.
