Excellent Car - 1998 Ford Taurus
By musicaldark - April 4 - 11:20 pmI bought my Taurus in Feb 2008, she had 88k miles on her, and here at 125k miles shes still running good as new. I always believed, if you take care of your car, then your car will take care of you. Thats very true! Im faithful to 3 month oil changes, 6 month tune ups, 1 year new tires or rotation of the ones bought the following year. I went today actually to look about getting a new car and the dealer at a Honda dealership told me, "You have a great car here, Id keep her if I was you" and you know what? He was right and I am keeping her. Best investment I ever made!

GOOD SOLID CAR - 1998 Ford Taurus
By ssmarkk - March 11 - 12:12 pmI have purchased my car in 2002 with 72,000 miles on it. Now car has 131,000 miles and mechanically sounds perfectly. Had no major problems with the car at all. Since 2002 I had to change battery, the timing belt (at around 110,000 miles which is expected), belt tensioner, braking pads, boots and front rotors, turn signal switch, fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs, stabilizing link bars, 5 times changed expansion tank for cooling liquid, cabin and turning signal light bulbs, and, of course, tires. As you can see the most of the replacements are related to the routine maintenance. No problems with transmission and engine. This car become our family member.

Great Car - 1998 Ford Taurus
By Jes - August 6 - 2:17 pmI got my Taurus as a first car when I first began to learn to drive. As a new driver, I did not take very good care of my car. It has taken a few beatings and some basic maintenance has been lacking but even in light of that, the car has still run great up until this point. The car now has 201,000 miles on it and the biggest problem it still has ever had is bad wheel bearings. It is an excellent car with very few problems and I have loved driving it!

Trustworthy old gal - 1998 Ford Taurus
By geisinger - April 22 - 9:49 amI bought this great car 12 years ago with 80k miles on it (it was a salesmans car) and now have 160k. It still runs great and has given me no trouble. We used it in our move from Maryland to Florida five years ago and made 6 thousand mile (each way) trips fully loaded and pulling a heavy trailer. We got 28 mpg then and still do. Other than routine maintenance, the only repair was a cacked coolant recovery bottle.

Love my 1998 Taurus Wagon - 1998 Ford Taurus
By Barby - August 22 - 11:27 amWe have owned either a Taurus or a Sable. We are on our 5th one now. We buy them used with about 100,000 miles on them and then we drive them til about 150,000. This particular 98 Taurus Wagon we have now has 175,000 miles on it and it is still going strong. Have not had any major problems with any of these cars. We get about 25-27mpg which is great. We just recently got a 2003 Taurus sedan and it does not get as good gas mileage. Its about 22-24mpg. Guess Ford changed something. We have been thinking about replacing this wagon but actually are thinking on keeping it to see just how far it will go. The body is still in excellent condition, paint not fading at all.

Best wagon I have owned - 1998 Ford Taurus
By Rondo - May 26 - 3:58 pmBought this wagon new and would buy the same wagon new today. This vehicle has really been super. Dislike selling it at this time with only 73k on it, but bought a new Mecury Sable. Gets great gas mileage, rides and drives very well, and has lots of room for people or various items. The grandkids love the rear seat. Love the color too, silver, which doesnt show the dirt. All in all, Ford built this wagon exceptionally. Someone is going to get s super wagon in this area....

98 Taurus SE - White - 1998 Ford Taurus
By Roadie - November 13 - 12:46 pmWhen I purchased this Taurus (used), I was looking for one that was pretty well equipped and reasonably low miles. I found this Taurus in Sept. 2001 as a "certified" vehicle with 33,000 miles on it and have been very happy with the car. This car has all available options except leather seats. The power moon roof is probably my favorite option, although the 200hp v6 Vortech engine option was a main selling point of the car ... the additional power was a must for me. The car drives and handles nicely and the mileage currently is at 27mpg! I maintain the car regularly at the recommended intervals and have not experienced any of the transmission woes of other owners.

GREAT CAR! - 1998 Ford Taurus

And yet is has great creature comforts and a killer sound system. Eventually I will have to move on from my car with 120,000 miles. Unfortunately, Ford has chosen to stop offering this great car. Where will I go now?

By SHOverine - December 24 - 11:08 pmWatch for camshaft problems. Otherwise this is a fun car to drive. The V8 provides great power, especially over 50mph. Interior is roomy (Im 63", so I should know). Trunk is very spacious - holds 4 sets of golf clubs. My SHO has over 125K miles on it and is still running like a champ (only major repair was getting the cams welded). If you are in the market for a SHO - get the cams welded!

By BREA_JO - April 9 - 2:00 amI LOVE MY TAURUS, I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH IT. IT HAS THE POWER I NEED TO PULL MY JET SKIS AND IS THE SMALLER SEDAN I WANTED. I LIKE THE APPEARANCE AND RELIABILITY OF IT, IT ALSO HAS LARGE TRUNK SPACE AND GREAT LEG ROOM.
