Overview & Reviews
The light group and speed control are now optional on LX level cars. Chrome wheels on the SE models have been replaced with five-spoke aluminum wheels.
- Cheap, well equipped and fairly powerful.
- The interior is cramped, some of the ergonomics are muddled, and the car is just weird looking.

So reliable, great investment... - 1999 Ford Taurus
By lincoln224 - October 8 - 3:59 amPurchased brand new in 1999, fully loaded gold with tan leather moonroof, 24 V eng. This car has NEVER left us stranded, and has never once been unreliable. The only money put into the car in 10 years has been : tires, oil, brakes, light bulbs and battery/plugs. This car has been driven VERY HARD by 2 teenage boys when mom wasnt using it! had to replace transmission at 98k no big deal. Car has probably been in over 200+ drag races (almost always won) gave car to son and bought a new 2007 Lincoln MKZ :)

Good Job Ford! - 1999 Ford Taurus
By Whasuhname - August 15 - 10:00 amOk, I like my car. It is a nice looking vehicle and it rides really nicely. Ive had minimal issues (i.e. speed sensor went out so I was like driving down the raod and it would randomly decide when it wanted to provide power to the drivetrain!...I mean I would be on the highway and like I would be stepping on the pedal and it just made the engine rev with no power to the wheels! it only cost like 50 bucks to fix so I was gladd :)). I have put like almost 40000 miles on that car in like a year and a half (its at 76000 now), and it still drives smooth. Taurus=good contour=bad

So far, great first car! - 1999 Ford Taurus
By Kevin - July 4 - 11:37 amI bought my Taurus SE a yesterday days ago from a private seller for $1,500. Best buy I have ever made! The car runs like new even at 176,000 miles! its incredibly comfortable and a relaxed car that handles really well. I have drivin my sisters 94 Honda Accord, and the Taurus has better power and acceleration, and yet still manages to be smooth. I also love the stereo system! Great car!

I love my Taurus - 1999 Ford Taurus
By mperry - February 8 - 11:22 amI had my Taurus se sedan for about 2 years now, and I have to say its been great. Like any other car, minor things go. All I had to replace in it since I had it was the starter and two front tires. No big deal. Thats normal parts to fix. I just replaced the battery not because I had to but because I wanted a brand new one good for 5 years. Other than that its been very dependable. Starts up everyday. No dings, dents or rust on it at all. I love the style. Like it a lot better than the newer styles out now. Iit drives very well. Handles very well. As long as you get an oil change every 3,000 miles. I love the power seat. 6 different adjustments.

No other - 1999 Ford Taurus
By No other - December 15 - 8:42 pmI purchase this car new. I have over 233,000 miles on it and still runs like new. Nothing has gone wrong with it. Just replace tires, and brakes. She look great up to 12/15/2008 when a lady nearly hit the car head on. Sadly the insurance is going to write this off even though she still drives great. Full power everything inside. I love this car. Sad nobody is going to see her worth to me. I believe it will go to 400K. Next time you think of Ford tough it dont have to be a truck.

Realiability at its best - 1999 Ford Taurus
By derson - November 27 - 3:40 pmPurchased car for $1500. Needed car for personal/work. I use car on occasion for mail delivery. Roomy enough for trays in drivers seat, and comfortable enough to right-hand drive without hyper-extending the legs/arms. Gas mileage is excellent - 26mpg personal (I have over 141k), and 15-17mpg for work (I drive 72 miles and have over 300 starts/stops.) I recently replaced rack/tie rods/ball joints, but it was not Fords fault. I curbed the tires when delivering mail. Great in snow. Have never been stuck - even in 10 inches of snow! Use Havoline oil & Seafoam - increased mileage 3-4mpg. My carrier just replaced his Taurus for new one. Wouldnt replace if wasnt reliable!

Very Nice Car - 1999 Ford Taurus
By Sniperlg - October 20 - 10:00 amThis SE Taurus is the second Taurus we ever own. We bought it at very reasonable price. In 2 1/2 years we have absolutely no problem. It is preppy and nice ride. We have leather seat, all power and moon roof. You cant complain for what we paid. I strongly recommend this car for its value.

A great car for the price. - 1999 Ford Taurus
By Mark Drutz - April 26 - 10:00 amWhile the styling is controversial, I love it. The 200 hp engine gives plenty of pep. Handling is very good for a family sedan. The bucket seats are comfortable, and there is ample room in the rear. The trunk is also roomy. After three years and 33,000 miles, I had only one very minor problem.
