  • Durable, Long-lasting car for a Pizza Delivery Driver - 1998 Ford Taurus

Bought this car in January 2010 but didnt start driving it until March because the transmission had been rigged up by previous owners. After shop did what they could to fix the transmission, I put about 36,000 miles on it driving for work and school. Had to get new brakes/pads, alternator, fuel and water pumps, battery and all the fixins. Show it some love and it will last for you! We bought it with just under 100,000 miles on it and the ending odometer was 135,500 (right on normal for the age of this car). It was a total loss when someone rear-ended me, but I would recommend this as a car worth the money. We paid $1200 originally and spend about $1500 on repairs needed for this car.

  • A truly great beater - 1998 Ford Taurus

I bought our 98 Taurus SE for $1200 2 years ago. Since then we have put 20,000 miles on it and done nothing but oil changes. Mileage is good, handles great for an American car, is comfortable and has a big trunk. I just wanted a cheap beater as a second car but it turned out to be a reliable daily driver.

I purchased new in August 1997 to replace 2003 SHO. Fun to drive, a tenth of a second slower than SHO in 1/4 mile. Runs even with current 5.0 Mustangs. Looks great, gets a lot of attention. Have had no mechanical problems just regular maintenance. No service issues. Used as second vehicle. This was an early model year vehicle so it has dual exhaust and trim items cost reduced out in later 1968 SE and performance packages. It is on its third set of premium tires, maybe due to driver style. Never thought of selling it until I drove the new SHO but it will still be a tough decision.

i bought this car at the beginning of 2008 with 114k miles...i now have 130k...when i bought it it had hit a deer..car was clean..replaced the hood and head light...since then...i have replace the transmission seal and have done other replacement due to miles...dash is coming apart and radio has tape deck that goes in and out from one side of speakers...fixed the locking latch on rear door...all parts and labor have been cheap...headlights are dim...im about to replace all front end parts due to age and hitting the deer...but all in all i think this is a great car that will last me a long time...paid 1700 bucks for it and put a grand into it..2700 dollars for this car was worth it...........

I have had my Taurus that I bought from my father over a year ago. Thus far the dash has come apart over the instrument panel. The a/c no longer works. I think it is the switch. But overall coming from a Saab, this car is far more amazing. For a car to be made in America it has provided me with great service.

  • Great Expectations - 1998 Ford Taurus

Purchased from a neighbors daughter who finished nursing school. Car appears well cared for. Pulled a trailer across the Continental Divide both ways with a U-Hual. They were able to keep it in cruise with AC. I will be the third owner. How it lasts in the long term is to be seen. I keep my cars a long time.

  • Its a so so car - 1998 Ford Taurus

I bought mine at 52K miles and it has served me well. Has had some odd repairs like bent tie rods. (Twice on the same side) Warped roters, and transmission problems. Its still running fairly well but the transmission sticks from first to second.

  • Taurus are Forever - 1998 Ford Taurus

I am a somewhat new driver and I got my Taurus from my dad at like 189,000 miles and by next week I will have 200,000 miles. I drive my car hard leaving from stops and the only thing I see wrong with the car and other Tauruss is that the rear shocks and struts go out at about 100,000 miles, but other than that I love my cat-fish car.

  • 98 Taurus SE - 1998 Ford Taurus

Just got my SE with 152,000 miles on it. It seems to be a good car considering that the previous owner probably doesn’t know what a spark plug is. I find it far easier and more fun to drive than the family Suburban. Visibility is excellent all around, and the car has plenty of power for me, even with the Vulcan engine. For the most part, I like the styling and the cabin layout.

  • My SHO - 1998 Ford Taurus

Great car I am the original owner and the car has exceeded my expectations in performance and lasting quality. As an engineer, I am still impressed with the power and comfort @ 111,000 miles.
