1992 Ranger 4x4 STX Ext. cab. SB - 1992 Ford Ranger
By rubyshaun - August 19 - 2:00 amI got this truck, and have loved every moment Ive spent in it, Im 18, and I go four wheeling, and I wheel hard. This truck has held sturdy, with no modifications (No lift, stock tires, etc), and it comes off the dirt, onto concrete wonderfully. My only vauge complaint would be gas mileage, but for a 4.0 V-6, it does wonderfully, especially if you take off the tailgate, an easy removal. My only warning bout this truck is it seems that the paint flakes off alot. Buy this if you want a sturdy small work truck...Not if you want a pretty truck.

Its been a great truck - 1992 Ford Ranger
By Coby - March 6 - 2:00 amI have had only two mechanical problems with it in 10 years. AC compressor and front locking hubs. The 2.9 liter 6 has always had enough power, and I do not understand why anyone needs the 4 liter engine. I get 22 mpg on the highway. (Automatic transmission). I have loaded this truck down on several occasions with no problem. Towing 2000 lbs you dont even know its back there. I consistantly drive 5 hours at a time in it and my 62" frame gets a bit stiff, but no permanent damage. Other than change the fluids, I havent done a thing to the engine in 95000 miles.

By TedM - October 14 - 2:00 amHad 162K before manual trans failed due to rubber boot that slowly leaked trans oil. Must check your trans oil periodically. Otherwise, the 3L engine is powerful and very reliable. Only did regular maintenance on it. Only install OEM fuel pump and not aftermarket. Try to cut thru bed or take off bed to access pump.

Love My Truck - 1992 Ford Ranger
By Roger D. - June 14 - 2:00 amI purchased my Ranger in fall of 1991. 10 years later and 78,000 miles I still have two of the original Firestone tires. The only repairs were brakes replaced @ 72,000 and an AC repair @ 55,000. Paint still looks like brand new and it runs and drives like the day I bought it. Very happy and would buy another.
