I bought this car with low miles on it for the year. Since then I have spent over $6,000 dollars in repairs for this car. Transmission, radiator, radiator fan and motor, suspension, top, and it goes through tires and brakes fast. Another bad thing about this car is the electrical problems. My A/C system only blows on high and the O2 sensor and evaporative sensor also have been replaced All the problems started to happen after 75,000 miles other than all the bad stuff this car is fun to drive with the top down and handles pretty well. Gas mileage is also pretty bad - about 15 mpg with the v6.

I bought the car a few months ago and i absolutely love it. It is fun to drive and fairly fast. It does get the worst gas mileage, but thats the price you pay for 8 cylinders. Some must-have mods are: Flowmaster Dela 40 exhaust with chrome tips, headers, and a 70mm throttle body. I recommend the Edelbrock. I kept the factory intake but put on a Kk&N filter. I also opened up the scoops in the hood so the engine is kept colder. I get 20 more HP in the winter time.

have owned the car for a year and had to replace radiator and power steering pump. Great car to drive but have a deep wallet to put into parts.

  • Still fun after all these years - 1996 Ford Mustang

Bought new, gets comments eight years later. Red paint glistens. Blew the intake manifold at 55 k, Ford covered repair even though out of warranty! Differential leak at about 90,000. Ended up paying for a new rear end. My fault...fixing the leak would have been much less costly. Clutch went at 110,000, but got the repair for $600 by avoiding the dealer. Ran too hot for a summer. Replaced radiator at 120k which fixed the problem ($400). Now runs cool even in 100 degree heat with the a/c blasting. Tires good for no more than 45 k. Im now running my third set. At about $900 per, thats not cheap. But man, those meats look good.

The heater core has gone out 3 times since 2000, and its been in 2 accidents. Even though it is not the best car by far, i still love my gt.

I bought this car new with 8 miles on it. @ 50 miles the tie-rod broke and it cost me $70.00 for a alignment (non warrenty) now the car has 118,324 miles on it and it has well over $6k in repairs..2 sets of Head-Gaskets, 1 Transmission, $800 in emissions work..Tires last about 40k miles and brakes last about 9k miles. dealership is unable to resolve front end problems and they have had it 6 times.

  • The Money Pit - 1996 Ford Mustang

I was so excited to purchase this vehicle back in 1996. It was so much fun to drive and very comfortable. When the car hit 47,000 miles things went sour. The head gaskets blew and the car was out of commission for 2+ months while waiting for a new engine to replace the damaged lower block. A few months after that, the car was recalled for this problem. Right after that the a/c line broke. I had all the repairs made at the dealer. Then most recently, the engine blew again! I could not believe it. This will make the 3rd engine and it only has 108,000 miles. Based on my experience, this car is THE money pit.

I bought my Stang new in 96, only had one problem with it so far. Replaced fuel pump under warranty at 1500 mi. No abnormal wear and tear on any parts. Changed front pads at 108,000 mi. and still had 3/8 in. of lining left, still have a 1/2 in. of lining on the rear. This car has been just awesome all the way around.

I have had this car almost 2 years, it was purchased for a work vehicle because we got a good deal. I love the great gas mileage and the performance, but again there is the tire issue. But luckily I have had great luck with the engine it has 90,000 and not any problems other than regular matienance. All together I have been greatly suprised by this peppy little machine.
