  • From Ford Family Forever! - 2016 Ford Fusion
    By -

Rented a fusion on several business trips, always looked forward to getting back to my Audi... Then, my dad died, and my sister and brother went back to Fords. My dad only drove fords, even when he was a young race car driver... between the truck and mustang, I decided to go for a test drive. Saw the white gold fusion and spent a long time driving it. The rentals did not have the same feel as this lovely new car. I ended up leasing, because I know that in a few years I will want another, with updated options. The only real complaint I have.... I cannot lock the fuel cap and my gas has been stolen too many times. Calling Ford today to see if there is a way to lock it! I kept my Audi, and after a few months, I totally weaned myself off it. Truly back to being a ford fan! I have owned several cars, including 3 mustangs... looking back, there is nothing, at this point of my life, than comfort! Thank God for progress!

  • Get Real New Car Value - 2016 Ford Fusion

I bought a 2016 1.5L Turbo SE Fusion with navigation in November and I was pleasantly pleased with the purchase experience. The car handles wonderfully and is comfortable both front and back. It is both economical and peppy, and really is a bargain vs. marginally more "upscale" vehicles. I have owned Lincolns, Acuras , Cadillacs, BMWs, ect. and this, in my opinion, is thus far, and by far, the best new car value I have ever obtained, even though may not be considered a "luxury " brand or model.

  • Love this car!! - 2016 Ford Fusion

Ive driven this car from Florida to new york multiple times, and its amazing!! Very comfortable and easy to drive. It has superior handling due to its fully electric steering. I was almost in an accident due to a sudden stop and the brakes on this car are awesome. It has a pretty good sound system, but the problem is I can never get the Bluetooth to connect on my phone!!. The car has decent acceleration with the 2.5 liter, but not the best at passing cars on the highway (takes a while), but it easily cruises at 100mph on the highway. Driving through the mountains, the engine is pretty noisy if you do around 80mph due to high reving. Other than that, its an amazing car and I love it!!

The 2016 seems better to me than the 2017; the shifter on the 2017 reminds me of the disasterous early 1970" chrysler push button one; I personally prefer to have a shift handle that is easy to feel the gear the car is in.

Tech, NAV, and Appearance options. Overall, Id say best bang for the buck at $7800 off MSRP. Powerful 2.0 engine with great handling, and the tech package gives a better radio speaker combo. At 2100 miles worst mpg was 20mpg on the first tank; best was 31mpg all highway. One negative is a warped rear window, but Ill live with it. Storage is lacking, and although others say the car is quiet compared to what they previously owned, I cant say the same as the 18" Goodyears arent quiet. The too far forward headrests are poor for long highway trips as I sit upright instead of reclined, so a neck pillow is recommended. I find the seat bottom angled too high and my legs are sore after a long trip. The majority of my driving time is city although the majority of the miles is highway. I shopped Camry, Avalon, Charger, Legacy, Outback, F150, and Maxima. The Fusion gave me the most for the least. I had a Bluetooth hiccup once, but restarting the vehicle fixed it. Would I buy it again? Yes.

  • Nice Car But Beware the Lug Nuts! - 2016 Ford Fusion
    By -

2016 Fusion SE, 1.5 liter turbo, owned for 18 months and 44,000 miles. I wont repeat in detail what most reviews have addressed: The Fusion is a very nice care and a great value. Its comfortable, easy to maintain, and fuel efficient if driven conservatively -- I routinely get between 38-40 mpg @ 60 mph of state highway driving. There is a drivers side dash rattle that developed at about 40K point that I cant seem to isolate which is driving me a little nuts but overall Im happy with my Fusion. HOWEVER, my main reason for this review is to highlight a problem many might not be aware of with the Fusion (and other Ford models) and that is the lousy lug nuts which can (and do) deform. Rather than use a solid steel lug nut Ford uses a steel core with a chrome or aluminum cap. With repeated removal (like when rotating your tires) the caps deform to the point where you cannot get the lug nut wrench (or a 19mm deep well socket) over the nut. If this happens and you get a flat out in the middle of nowhere, youre screwed. You wont be able to change the tire and will have to call for a tow. Ford blames people using an air gun and over torquing the nut. It also tends to happen when folks use a 12-point socket instead of a 6-point socket. But I always use a torque wrench and hand torque to Ford specs and it happened to me. Fortunately I discovered it while the vehicle was sitting in the drive and not on the shoulder of I-75 with a flat. My advice is to simply replace all of your lug nuts with one-piece nuts at your earliest convenience! You can get a set of 20 for about $30 and its well worth the peace of mind. I went to three auto parts stores in my town (NAPA, Carquest, OReillys) and they were all aware of the Ford lug nut issue. In August 2017 a class-action lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan to make Ford own up and replace the nuts (google Ford swollen lug nuts).

  • Premium sedan feel for an affordable price - 2016 Ford Fusion

Overall I enjoy driving this car. I drive this about 70 miles per day with my commute and have driven on long trips also. Its a very good driving car. Visibility is good and acceleration is ample for merging and passing, etc. The AWD works perfect in snowy conditions along with proper snow tires. I always get compliments on the look of the exterior and interior. My biggest complaint is the functionality of the headlights. Even with the Titanium trim, halogen lights are standard and do not believe HID is an option. Headlights are not bright and do not project well, at all. I always have the fog lamps on to supplement the lack of light. After purchase I did replace the OEM lamps with Sylvania Silverstars to help. Test drive this car at night to be sure you can deal with this problem.
