  Mixed feelings - 2000 Ford Focus

  I bought this car new. In the 3 years (27,500 mls) Ive had it, its been more trouble than my 10 yr old Honda (+200,000 mls). Things that should work for a certain amount of time dont. The latest is the rear power window. The mechanism failed and now needs to be replace. This is just 3 weeks AFTER the wrnty expired. Ive also had to bring it back for recalls - wipers and backseat latch. The stereo was replace too. On the other hand it is fun to drive. I love all the cargo room with the back seat down. Its easy to manuever, and it has some zip to it. Its cute and good back seat leg room. Wont buy another, but remember you get what you pay for.

  Zippy, Fun But Extremely Frustrating - 2000 Ford Focus

  Loved car when bought. Still like it, but tired of quirky surprises! Had a cracked AC line 6 months after purchase. It was at dlrshp 3 mths waiting for for the part to come in. Many recalls. Most recent on fuel pump. Car cant be started to move just couple of feet in driveway or critical valve sticks and car wont restart. Dlr says drive around block to avoid problem. Prblm with wires in steering column caused exterior light failure on 2 diff. occasions. Brakes(rotors too) had to be replaced. Crz cntrl would not remain engaged; had to be repaired. Ignition swtch went bad, key would not go into the ignition. Many rpr bills while still making car pymts!

  Its a great car overall, handles well and gets great gas mileage. mine has a little over 80,000 miles on it and still runs like new

  Love this car! Its been a reliable hauler (love the folding split seats) and has plenty of giddy-up for a small car. Outside of the recalls, Ive had no major problems with it. I get about 34 highway/27 city mileage wise. I cant complain with that. Havent had a need to transport many passengers, thankfully, the rear seat is a pain to get into.

  Ive owned this vehicle for what is almost 3 months now. I havent had any problems with it at all. Ive recently gotten the windows tinted and added a spoiler, it is a very hot little car. I am very happy to own it.

  Fun car with a lot of problems! - 2000 Ford Focus

  Ive had my Focus for 2 years now, only 18000 miles, and it handles great, its spacious, and looks good BUT-besides 3 recalls, Ive taken it in to have the power steering pump replaced there was also the plastic guard below the windshield wipers falling off, trim along the passenger side roof peeling, the vinyl cover on the emergency brake with several cracks in it, and I also have this horrible rattle on the rear passenger side that has been fixed several times but keeps coming back! Despite the fact these have all been fixed under warranty-what is going to happen in another 2 years?

  After being forced into buying a car on rather short notice by a wreck, I decided that what I wanted was a vehicle which was able to haul me and all of my crap, be economical, and still be fun to drive. The Focus Zx3 has lived up to all of that, with the exceptions of interior quality and fuel economy. The fuel economy is partially my fault, as it has been so much fun to drive (fast), and in the summertime with the AC on, it can suck up a lot of fuel, even on the highway. I have experienced few mechanical problems (my ignition key stopped working once), and I have driven this car about as hard as I know how.

  Well, my Focus ZTS is a very good car performance wise; it has great power and acceleration. Also on the ZTS model, the seats and steering wheel are adjustable so I can customize to my liking. My complaints with it are several: 1. All those darn recalls. 2. The cheapo organic brake pads installed with the front disk brakes. 3. My transmission leaked a little 4. Squeaky OEM windshield wipers
