  • Youll get what you paid for - 2000 Ford Focus

My wife bought this car new, before we met. I would never have bought a Ford. We had to replace the tires, brakes and rotors and needed a four wheel alignment at 25,000, We replaced the fuel pump at 50,000 and the trunk leaked but warranty covered seal replacement. When I replaced the spark plugs, the wires were bad. Ford used cheap parts. I changed the oil (Syntec) every 3000 mi. The transmission is exotic for a Ford so I made sure to get it serviced every 30K mi. We now have 107,000 and this car is still running very strong. same power as when it had 15000. no major problems, just general wear after replacing cheap factory parts. Do the scheduled maintenance and car should last years.

I bought my 2000 Focus SE used about a month ago and and I love it. Handling and braking are superb. Acceleration is very good with the 4 spd automatic. Suprisingly comfortable and quiet on the inside for a 4 cylinder. I bought this car for my son and I keep trying to take it from him!

  • A few problems here & there. - 2000 Ford Focus

I bought my car from a used car dealership. Its been pretty good. I keep having trouble with its engine though. Somehow the tps sensor, or something like that isnt reading anything from my engine. So my acceleration reallly really stinks right now. My horn also stopped working--not good, at all. I had a little problem a couple months ago with my abs--it ended up to be a loose wiring problem. Which has been happening a lot. Other than that, I love my Ford Focus. I think it is acting up just cause it has a lot of miles on it. It gets really good gas mileage. I drive it a lot. And I still only have to fill it up, on average every 1 and a half weeks.

  • You cant make lemonade out of this lemon - 2000 Ford Focus

Since the car hit 60,000 miles its been in and out of the shop constantly. With no warning, the clutch dropped out while I was driving 65 mph down the highway. Repair bill: $600. One of the parts they replaced broke again within two months. That was covered by a warranty, but it was still a pain and a safety issue. Then the fuel system went out, leaving me stranded. Thankfully, covered by a recall, but still a pain and a safety issue. Then the key wouldnt go into the ignition, again leaving me stranded. Repair: $300. Headlight wiring melted: $50/light. Air bags dysfunctional. Now the electrical is screwed up and the car dies unexpectedly at varying speeds while Im driving it. Whats next?

  • My first car - 2000 Ford Focus

it is a very fun car. I drive it to college every day and love it but it needs some serous HP improvements. The 5 speed needs a 6th gear because 55 mph =2200 rpms but that means it can do a high top speed. I did 75 in 4th without trouble

I have not had any problems with this car. It looks sporty, and I have even had a guy ask me if it was a BWM! The car doesnt rattle and squeak when I go over bumps or anything. I have the Zetec engine and it is very quite!

  • Worse Car Ever - 2000 Ford Focus

It should of been a red flag from day one. When I test drove the car. But I was in need of a car so I purchased the car. And since then it has been a nightmare. I have had this car for 10 months now. And I have put in over 1,000 in repairs. Timing belt went out 3 months after I got the car. 3 months later ignition lock had to be repaired. Right now it is actually in the shop. Shakes a lot. Engine light keeps coming back on. Has leaks. I still have a year to pay it off. I recommend never, ever buy a used ford. They are a nightmare and you will regret it. I will never purchase a ford again. The radio didnt even work and yes the knob from the volume started melting in the summer.

  • LEMONVILLE - 2000 Ford Focus

NOTHING BUT RECALLS AND ON SOME PARTS, THE SAME RECALL THREE TIMES. DEALERSHIP LEASE MANAGER TOTALLY UNREASONABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS LOOKED AT BY TWO INDEPENDANT MECHANICS THAT SAID THE CAR WAS UNSAFE.AND! THAT IT WAS A LEMON. I PAID TO GET OUT OF A LEASED VEHICLE THAT WAS A MISTAKE FROM ITS FIRST DAY ON THE CONVEYOR.SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS LATER I LEARNED A HARD LESSON. :(

  • Had Better - 2000 Ford Focus

I have had four Fords before this car and I can easily say this is the only one Im not satisfied with. I bouth it used with 20k on it. At 25k, a bad vibration started coming from the rear wheels. Now at 34k, the headlights turn on and off randomly and the automatic transmission slips out of gear when the lights shut off. Oddly this problem has no effect on the engine. My two Crown Victorias and my Escort were much better cars.

  • Focus was good for first year, stinks now - 2000 Ford Focus

Saucy car but breaks down after a year. It was awesome in high school, then i had to keep going for recalls to the dealership, and a noise from the rear wheel never went away - even after having the dealership fix it 3 times in a row! They probably just sit around and wish I would forget about the problem but its difficult when youre driving with noise in the back of your car and you get embarrassed when people ask you waht the noises are. Its fun to drive but the road noise is killing me. I wouldnt be surprised if my hearing decreased due to this car. All my family buys is Fords but i am disappointed.
