  • Focus was good for first year, stinks now - 2000 Ford Focus

Saucy car but breaks down after a year. It was awesome in high school, then i had to keep going for recalls to the dealership, and a noise from the rear wheel never went away - even after having the dealership fix it 3 times in a row! They probably just sit around and wish I would forget about the problem but its difficult when youre driving with noise in the back of your car and you get embarrassed when people ask you waht the noises are. Its fun to drive but the road noise is killing me. I wouldnt be surprised if my hearing decreased due to this car. All my family buys is Fords but i am disappointed.

  • Good car for a good price - 2000 Ford Focus

I got this car with 165,000miles on it only because it was a really good deal. I have only put on about 4,000 since i got it but nothing has gone wrong yet. There is the burning smell that comes from the engine, like oil or something. Its a great car but its not to dependable in the snow, but since its light its easy to push out.

  • Loved the car, Hate the mishaps - 2000 Ford Focus

I was the first owner of my Focus and the last. I loved the car and will miss it. Had a few recalls. The down part was had to replace motor at 90,000, always felt like was putting new tires on the car due to some alignment issues (mechanics could never figure it out) and had trouble with the exhaust. Up to recently was doing good and out of no where the motor went again only 70,000 miles later. I hated to give it up but hate to keep putting work into it. Had to give it up and look for a new one. Would I buy another Focus? Yes I would but not the new ones, think they are ugly.

  • Fun in the twisties - 2000 Ford Focus

Its been a great first car. Had a few recalls, but Ford fixed them all no charge. Other than that, just replace a sensor or two (I have 90k miles) wheel bearings, brakes. But those are all wear items, so its not really a problem. Never left me stranded. OK power with the Zetec DOHC engine, 0-60 in a 5-speed takes under 9 seconds, which is fine for freeway merging. Handles great for such a cheap car, very fun when the road gets twisty.

  • Make My Next Car A Honda - 2000 Ford Focus

I purchased this car two years ago and for the first 15,000 miles it was a great car. It now has 44,000 miles on it and it has been a nightmare! Besides the numerous recalls on this car, the following parts have been replaced: alternator, fuel pump,battery,I.P.S. sensor-twice!,drivers seat bracket-twice!,headlight lenses-three times!,rear wheel bearings- three times!,trans. computer reprogrammed-slamming into gears, fuel inj. computer reprogrammed-no starts!,front end linkage+tie rods!-And I dont beat on my car at all!

  • Great car for the price - 2000 Ford Focus

Handles like a good rally car. It can take corners at speed, but has a slightly higher ride height than other vehicles of the same size. I replaced the swaybar(stabilizer bar) bushings with stiffer polyurethane for a little less body roll. I have driven this vehicle for 7.5 years and have enjoyed it immensely. Sure, some things had to be fixed under recall, and some things broke that I had to pay for after the warranty ended, but overall I am happy. I have had worse experiences with cars I bought new. The bucket seats are built for average frames or smaller. Wide shouldered or heavier people (250+ lbs.) will notice marked problems after several years

  • Ford fun - 2000 Ford Focus

I bought my Ford Focus before arriving to Germany in July 2000. It has been a good car except the fact that the stereo lasted only 37 months. The bumper to bumper warranty at 36,000 is too short for cars being built today. The gas milage has only been about 27- 29 on highways with an automatic transmission. Still this car has been great in Germany and I would buy another one.

  • ZTS worth the price - 2000 Ford Focus
    By -

For the amount of money you could spend on transportation of your choice, the Ford ZTS is just about everything you could want in a small family car. It is very economical (28-33 m.p.g.),very attractive in and out, well laid out interior and instruments. My only "beef" is that it is still under powered, especially with th A/C on. PLEASE, Ford, offer the ZTS with the same engine you put in those ugly ZX3/5s!!!

  • Never Owned a Ford Before - 2000 Ford Focus
    By -

I am not one of those that get into the whole heated debate about Ford vs. Chevy, etc. Some have given me hell about owning a Ford, but I cant complain. (yet) Not that Im expecting things to go wrong, just have my eyes open in case. I love my little Focus ZTS and I think it looks sleek, sharp and sexy. I enjoy the sound system (not so sure my fellow commuters do...) and the EASE of steering. I am a happy first-time FORD owner. Thank you!

  • Great Car... If parts would stop failing - 2000 Ford Focus
    By -

The car is great... i love the way it looks drives and handles. The fold down rear seats provide oodles of storage space when you need it... However, i too have been to the ford dealership a little to often for my tastes. Everything has been covered by the warranty but i bought a new car so i wouldnt have to worry about the problems. However, i know my service guy really well now.
