  Bought brand new, now at 118K, at the time there wasnt many options for a small wagon. Reliability has been AWFUL. O2 sensor is always malfunctioning ..check engine light can only be off for a week or so, learned to live with. Many expensive parts; ABS sensor, calipers, wiring, wheel bearings, front suspension. Now tranny starting to act weird, also many recalls have been tiresome (lost track, at least 10 of them). Perhaps Ford has worked out the problems, they now offer longer warantee, (we had 3 yr, 36k mile), but I dont appreciate paying to be a tester. Interior is cheap, stereo is cheap. Cup holders, WHO CARES? (they are bad though). Seats are like boards.

  I bought this car expecting it to be full of problems - I got it cheap, so I could budget for repairs. Well, to my surprise, the car has been flawless. Ive put nearly 10K miles on it (total nearly 40K). I have all the previous records, and its only repair was a fuel pump (common issue I hear). Thats it! I cannot find any probems. It handles well, and has a very smooth quiet ride. The engine is powerful enough to make it fun to drive. I love having ABS and side airbags - it was hard finding a 5-spd ZX3 with those options, as well as all the power equipment.

  You get what you pay for - 2000 Ford Focus

  Everybody seems to be knocking this vehicle pretty, the root of the story is that you get what you pay for. I paid 15,000 for my Focus SE and it has given me my moneys worth so far. It has 62,000 miles on it, and has never needed additional maintenance other than the recall items that were replaced. Im am not certain how long this car will last, but remember that its Fords entry level vehicle, and if you get 150,000 out of it, its done its job. Next time dont be cheap and open up the checkbook

  Motor runs good but not even. The onboard computer makes the purformance go up and down.

  This was my first car and what a deal I got.:( Consistent recalls, having to replace rotors every year which run me $300+, starter blew after only 6months old, cheap rubber lining around outside door frame kept falling off (3xs), makes a lot of noise, hard to sell back for descent price. I wanted to stay and buy American but Im going foriegn next. All other car dealerships can thank the makers of the Ford Focus for the increase in business.

  I purchased the car in 2000 april.I first was impressed by the inside room, me being a big guy. It was also quick and handled nicely. Even through the recalls and minor problems, I was very happy with this car, until I started having rotor and brake trouble. The first failure was at 18000 miles and again (now) at 26000 miles. I have to admit I have been looking for a little bigger auto, But not a ford.

  Excellent car. No issues save a couple transparent recalls. Handles very well, fun to drive. The car is very comfportable with and amazing amount of interior for its size. The stock sound system is. So far wer have a little over 60,000 trouble free miles.

  Great car for the money, needs some more options like softer seats, more horsepower, bigger gas tank.
