This Year's Model Updates:

Changes are minimal on the 2007 Ford Focus. All CD players are now MP3-compatible, and models with the optional CD changer automatically get audio controls on the steering wheel. Optional on SE and SES trim levels is a new interior upgrade package with two-tone leather seats and satin metallic interior trim. You can also get the leather seats as a stand-alone extra. Additionally, the ST sedan and all SE and SES sedans and hatchbacks are eligible for the Street Appearance Package, which provides special exterior trim and a polished exhaust outlet. Powertrain warranty coverage is extended to 5 years/100,000 miles as of July 2006.

Pros:
  • Plush ride quality, responsive steering, comfortable seats front and rear, simple controls, four body styles to choose from.
Cons:
  • Sloppy fit and finish, low-grade plastic trim in cabin, inadequate storage and cupholders, no rear head restraints or side curtain airbags, 2.3-liter engine limited to ST sedan.

  • So far, so good - 2007 Ford Focus

The car so far is what I expected and a little more. 4 tanks of gas and average right around 30 mpg with mixed highway and constant stop n go driving. This car is very easy and enjoyable (very fun at times) to drive in all situations so far.

  • Surprising car. I really like it! - 2007 Ford Focus

I needed an economical, dependable, third car with a rack for my longboards. It has exceded all of my expectations. I have put 5,300 miles on it in 3 months. I modified a set of INNO racks and they work great. The Focus carries a ton of stuff, 2 9 foot plus boards on top, is very fun to drive, and gets decent gas mileage (25 to 30 mpg with the PZEV). I did not expect such a versatile vehicle. Ford should consider making an "Outback" style car based on the Focus. Unfortunately, this model is discontinued. Great cheap surf car for solo trips! Excellent commuter and general purpose vehicle. Amazingly quick and agile. Highly recommend.

  • Odd man out with only one thing wrong for me - 2007 Ford Focus

I love this car! I typically buy a good used car, and run it into the ground. I bought this in 2014 with 110k, and hope to finally unload it this week (Jan 2018) at 175K. I may very well buy the same darn year & model car advertised with less than 100k at 3800. Well see. I am not a particularly demanding person so I forgive a lot of stuff that others may gripe about. I also have bad hearing so the noise mentioned by other reviews never bothered me. I invested a fair amount in regular maintenance, and one engine mount from years of Pennsylvania pot holes, but the only thing thats costly, and I did not get done, and bad is the $400 broken clock spring in the steering wheel. This means no horn, "always on, sometimes off" dash lights like check engine, ABS, and others. I really like the turning radius, handling, acceleration, and stopping (saved me more than a few times). The engine and trans are still excellent, and I sometimes abuse both, but it has 175K so I know its on borrowed time. I came looking at reviews, but based on my experience, and my expectations from an economy car, I may do it again. Sorry to be so wordy. Sounds like an obituary for a good friend.

  • Very Satisfied! - 2007 Ford Focus

I love my Ford Focus! One of the best features is the SecureLock Anti-Theft system- without a programmed key, no key will work in the ignition switch! I love the look, feel, and the way that the car drives. My gas mileage for right now is a bit sluggish. Im averaging between 290 and 330 miles per tank, which isnt very much with my automatic. But I have less than 5000 miles on it so I believe it will improve. This car is certainly worth the money, and for me being a college student, this was the perfect fit for my first new car. This was the perfect upgrade from my 1993 Toyota Camry that was dying out on me. Certainly worth the buy!

After a trying three years of ownership with an 02 Focus, I decided to give it another go with an 07. Ive had the car for a day so far. Performance is good, comfort is good, a very good value for the money. Long range reliability isnt promising, so get an extended warranty that covers more than powertrain - you wont regret it. My 02 was great until it 50k - it was all downhill for the last 22k miles of ownership with that car. With the 07s, the SE and SES are the best values if you want A/C.

  • Great Ugly Car - 2007 Ford Focus

A surprising car. The 2.0 is significantly faster than my beloved 2003 Protege ES. The ride is nice and soft, yet the car handles really well. There is a lot of body roll during spirited driving, but this isnt a performance model. Big truck easily fits a lawn mower. Soft seats, decent dead pedal placement, high seating position. If you dont care about looks, this is the best American car. Better than Neon and Cobalt Now the bad: This is an ugly little car. It looks like something poor people would drive in the former Soviet Union. Also, the interior is cheap and ugly, and after a while the plastic starts to smell. The engine sounds really weak, and the transmission shifts oddly at times

  • Ford Focus, A Good Choice - 2007 Ford Focus

The engine has lots more power than I expected. The seats are more comfortable than those in my 2005 Explorer. The gas mileage is really nice. I drive daily in the stop and go traffic on Dallas, TX freeways and I am getting close to 30mpg.

  • Good Safe Transport - 2007 Ford Focus

I traded a 2002 PT Cruiser with 73,000 miles for this car after having starting problems with the Cruiser and the locking device going haywire--locking and unlocking by itself. So far, I really enjoy this Ford Focus more than I did the Cruiser. Granted, I miss the retro look. But, the Focus has a great European style design. It kind of reminds me of some Volvos I have seen around town. It brakes extremely well, and has a quick take off for a 4 cylinder. It gets better gas mileage than the Cruiser I had. Also, it handles much better than a 2000 Neon that I also owned previously. I can feel weight to the car as I drive it, and I like that. It corners well, and I dont feel excessive leaning.

This car is very fun to drive. With the 5 speed manual transmission it makes it very fun, and it also can hold its own for speed. I am very happy with the car. The build is more lower scale trim, but, you get what you pay for. And for the money, its a very good car with all the options.

  • The Reason I went to Ford and they went Bankrupt - 2007 Ford Focus

If you have the opportunity to buy a 2007 Ford Focus 5 Door Hatchback, do it. Now to expand on this a little, and explain the title, there are literally a million Ford Focuses from the Generation I of the Focus running around the United States, and almost every last one of them looks prettier and is nicer than the hideous monstrosity that followed it in the United States, you see Ford decided that the Europeans deserved a different Focus, they also apparently deserved to keep the Hatchback, thanks to this policy, the 08-11 Focus was essentially costing Ford extra money, something that cost them far more than their buyers when the recession hit. Now about my car, Ford went out with Gen I by making a superb model year, it even in my mind compares favorably in some aspects with the 2012 Focus, for example, the seats are more comfortable, theyre easier to slide out of and into, the cushioning is more substantial or at least better distributed and the cars lines in certain areas are ever so slightly smoother. The car on its own merits has the traditional hatchback arguments going for it, the hatch is decently sized, the interior is roomy for a small car, and despite it having a hatch, the rear window to me seems superior to even large sedans due to it being essentially vertical and giving you a clear rear view. Other pluses for this car come from it being in the small car category, good MPG for its age, though the EPA folks do like to revise that, the tires arent huge but not so small a bump in the road would ruin them. On Electronics, this is one area where the Focus showed its age, on my model for example, the car does not even have a rev counter, only a speedometer, many normal gauges on cars from the period, such as battery voltage are not on this model, but it does come with cruise control on several models which for that year is actually still a plus for the segment and for Ford. The stereo system is ancient and the fact that most of their original owners decided the original stereo was terrible and replaced it, mine for example has a Pioneer Stereo which allows me a USB port or Aux Cable should inform you about a stock stereo. The only serious issue I can have with this car are things well beyond my control, the transmission is a miserable 4 speed automatic transmission, overwhelmed under any reasonable acceleration by an engine with some 30 less horsepower than its modern descendant from the 2012 Generation of Focuses, the first and third gears are so long you could fit two more in them, which is exactly what Ford did in 2012. The engine is only about 138 horses, or less, it has changed three times since I bought the car, that was in 2014, not terrible, but considering what they could have gotten out of her with only a little trickery with the engine, at least 160 horses, believe it or not that would make a difference. The steering makes me feel like I am in a Formula 1 Car, not a hatchback and is worthy of cars more agile and more powerful, a definite plus for me. Thats the car itself, the only other issue is resale value, if you buy this car, keep it, it wont be worth the effort to negotiate giving it to a dealership and if you are a young driver, its good to have a car around when you buy a new car to keep the miles down on that car. If well kept and not abused, the car will last well into the 150k or 200k mile range. Its more than paid for itself by this point as well.
