  • Ford Focus ZX3 Mediocre Car - 2000 Ford Focus

The car is awful on gas, it currently leaks oil at 86000 KMs. It has its share of noises, but in the end it is reliable. Considering my 2000 Neon had bad spark plugs, broken springs, a rebuilt transmission, a new radiator and also leaked oil by the time it was 3 years old ... I cant complain. I love the little bubble design, which allows taller people to fit comfortably height-wise. The Zetec engine has enough power for its size, but mind you its no racing machine. Finally, I cant stand how Ford has recalls that state "we will only pay if you know that this is the exact cause"... either you will replace a part that has been causing problems for Focuses or you wont.

  • FORD FOCUS IS A LEMON! - 2000 Ford Focus

I currently drive and own a 2000 Ford Focus. I havent decided if this is the worst car Ive ever owned or the Dodge Colt was. This car is in the shop every other month. I hate it with a passion & tell whoever I can not to buy one. Just wanted to make sure that my low marks on this dump would bring down the overall customer satisfaction that shows on the ratings.

  • Better Car than most in class - 2000 Ford Focus

Owned mine since new in 2000. Other than recalls that I think are positive, Ive had a few minor repairs except for a transmission cylinder. Replaced front rotors at 50,000 miles of mostly city driving. Much less problems than 2 VWs Ive owned but more than the Toyotas. But then again I only paid $13,500 new.

  • #1 Compact car in the USA, period. - 2000 Ford Focus

I all around enjoy this vehicle. I dont think that after owning this car I will be able to drive anything else like it (cavalier, neon, civic) because the road handling is THAT GOOD. Engine is peppy when it is needed and the car reinforces that feeling with a good sound. It could use some more pep, but Ford fixed that with the 2003/4 PZEV engine. I am truely extatic with this car (purchased used last July for $10.5k). Go to a Ford dealership, test drive the car and take it on a hilly and curvy road and you too will understand why this car is so much fun to drive!

  • So far so good - 2000 Ford Focus

I was a little sceptical about owning the 2000 Ford Focus SE (5spd Dohc), a debute car, but so far it has proved me wrong. Aside from the pesky recalls and affordable maintenance the car has been a very practical and fun ride.

This was my first new car and it was a nightmare. Within the first three weeks it sound like my left rear wheel was about to fall off, my hazard lights kept blinking nonstop, my brakes kept sqeaking really loud all the time, the ignition cylinder broke, and I had to pay $100 for a pair of new keys because they have a stupid chip in them. My lumbar seat lever broke on both sides, my rear seat belts didnt work, my sun visor screws came out, my rear tail light cover melted because the light bulb over heated. These cars have really cheap parts. Same on Ford you would think after all of these years of experience Ford has they would have made a better product.

  • Not that impressed - 2000 Ford Focus

Obviously, this car is fairly new. But heres a few problems that Im currently having: the break lights are stuck on; it randomly decelerates when Im driving; it at times decides it doesnt want to go fast and takes (and im being quite literal here) 2 minutes to accelerate 20 miles per hour; it stalls when I try to merge; it stalled 8 times in 40 minutes tonight; it doesnt start in the rain. The cars less than 4 years old. Dont buy this car.

  • Excellent car for the money - 2000 Ford Focus

Of all the cars I could lease for 233 a month and 1500 down, the Focus was the best. The standard lease offered 2,500 more miles a year than volkswagen. Also my insurance company informed me that Ford doesnt require the expensive lease coverage that other companys do. The car is very comfortable and roomier than cars that cost much more. I have had one quality issue and that was the fuel pump, however that gave me plenty of warning and was covered under the warranty, also Ford rented me another car while mine was being repaired. The only disappointment in the car is gas mileage. Which I feel should be at least 10 miles per gallon higher.

  • Wishful thinking - 2000 Ford Focus

I bought this car brand new. Since then i have had numourous recalls on it. It has been very inconvenient constantly have the car in the shop. The ignition has locked on me on several occasions. THank you ford for extending the warrenty. No thank you for not extending the whole warrenty not just the powertrain. Klaben was very unprofessional in their help. It was fun to drive. Just very inconvenient.

  • 10 Reasons why you shouldt own a Focus - 2000 Ford Focus
    By -

1)Record recalls and svce maintenance. 2)Inadequate driver seating for folks over 6 ft tall.(Im 6 2" and have to recline the seat so I dont hit my head on the roof 3)A/C is a joke. 4)Engine is noisy and rattly after 40K miles. 5) Interior head fabric separates from roof after 42K miles. 6)Headlight falls out at 25K miles. 7)Cupholders (console) cant accomodate starbucks or Dunkin Donuts medium size cups. 8)Original Goodyear tires are too expensive for such cheap car... $164 to replace a tire when I drove into a pot hole. 9) Motor in two power windows broke at 20K miles. 10)Ford Focus is a terrible wedding anniversary gift
