This Year's Model Updates:

A limited-edition Harley-Davidson package debuts this year, featuring monochromatic paint, 22-inch alloys, unique trim and special leather seating. New 20-inch alloy wheels are available on FX4, Lariat and King Ranch models. Satellite radio is newly available, and traction control can be added to 2WD V8 models. Later in the model year, the crew cab can be equipped with a 6.5-foot cargo bed.

Pros:
  • Exceptional ride and handling characteristics, attractive and functional interior designs, multiple cab and bed configurations.
Cons:
  • Feels sluggish even with larger V8, no available side airbags, not much interior storage space.

  • Dans Triton motor update! - 2006 Ford F-150

Heres my update. Im the "Dan" guy who posts about 3rd Ford truck and still impressed. I finally started to get a misfire. Dealership said it didnt throw ONE SINGLE CODE (like all other keep posting about) no cam phasers, sensors, lifters etc. Replaced all 8 plugs, and misfire is resolved as of yesterday. NOT ONE BROKE!, only 56k, but still 6 years old. I really think the 2 piece spark plug design is horrible and YES causing a lot of you financial hardship, however....change them at or before 60k. I really think that any V-8 not changing plugs til 120k, like I keep reading will obviously give someone a lot of trouble removing. Use Mobil-1 5w-20w, NOT the old fashioned sludge 10w-40

  • 06 F-150 SUPERCREW 4X2 XLT (5.4L) - 2006 Ford F-150

Going on 6 yrs now with mine, and 34,500 miles. Never skips a beat , and have done all sched maintenance. No problems with the 5.4L so far, but seems a little sluggish. On my 2nd set of tires the tires from ford only lasted for 34000 and started to split. Hope to go another 6yrs with this truck then trade it in for a new one. Quiet ride with little road noise .

  • Performance failing with increased mileage - 2006 Ford F-150

I purchased this truck with 17k miles. Great ride and performance and was well pleased. I always followed the service and maintenance recommendations, oil changes, rotations, filters etc. all done and on schedule. I travel a lot and am now at 140k miles and its falling apart. First the 4 wheel drive stop working and now the engine, transmission or fuel system has gone bad, truck flutters really awful when in overdrive, accelerating or simply trying to climb a hill on the interstate. Next the truck just stops going when coming to a coast of stop sign some times. It just falls into a idling state. The old saying that FORD is an acronym for "Fix Or Repair Daily" has come true for me.

  • Great Truck! - 2006 Ford F-150

Super reliable vehicle! I am on my 2nd set of tires (Goodyear Silent Armors) whcih may have caused my mileage to drop a bit. I use to average 17.2 MPG mixed. Now it has dropped to about 16.8. I love the quiet steel Ford incorporated into the vehicle. Keeps the road noise to a very minimum! I also love the roominess. I wishi t had more interior storage though.

  • Tips and concerns - 2006 Ford F-150

I read he horror stories, and I still whats going on. 3rd Ford truck and still impressed. 2 Rangers, now a 5.4 XLT Supercab 2006. No plug blow outs, no leaks, oil lifters etc. I do, however, after research and experience, think the 5.4 is a high maintenance engine. MUST use a light weight FULLY synthetic oil, K&N air filter, the correct oil filter, and CHANGE PLUGS at 60K. Run fuel injector cleaner every 3 fills. I only have 46K, but I really think preventative maint. is the key. Are some of you "romping" on these trucks? ie break-stands, tug-o war?. Who knows, I may have all these problems at some point but I have never had one single malfunction/problem with ANY of the 3 Iv own

  • Who woulda thunk, me in a King Ranch!! - 2006 Ford F-150
    By -

So here I am, searching craigslist, cars.com, the newspaper and anywhere else to replace my 15 yr old Dodge Ram Laramie for something with a backseat for my two growing kids. I mean I looked everywhere for about 2 years, harrassing car salesmen for the best deal, checking out Rams, Frontiers, F150s, Silverados, Tacomas and Tundras. Then I run across a small ad on craigslist for a 2006 King Ranch crew cab for $20,500, 37k miles. So I call and a previous caller had already talked her (yeah owned by a 55 yr old woman) down to $19.5k. So I made sure I was the 1st to see it, deposited $100 because it was in near mint condition and cannot believe its mine.

  • rough idle on start - 2006 Ford F-150

Bought this truck used 2 weeks ago, dealer gave a warranty, thank god....Noticed it had a miss at cold start. Took it to the dealer a week later...they have had the truck for 3 days now...changed plugs, checked fuel pump...still no word on what the problem is....said the compression was low...still waiting on the verdict....I am happy with the looks and comfort, but not happy with this issue, this is my 4th ford...all the others were wonderful

  • The Best American Truck! - 2006 Ford F-150

I have owned this truck for 4 yrs. Now and I love it. NO problems at all. It is a solid fun to drive truck, that has plenty of power to pull and fun to go 4-wheelin her in Utah!

  • Better 2nd time around - 2006 Ford F-150
    By -

I purchased a new 2004 F150 and had nothing but problems, all covered under warranty. Of course this was the new model year out. So I traded it for a 2006 and I only had 2 problems. The 3rd tail light leaked and was fixed under warranty and Seatbelt was put on from the plant backwards. I dont know how that happened. This truck has been awesome since then. No problems since then. I would purchase another considering the new model has better fuel economy and I read it is much more roomier. I have 2 kids, wife and dog and I considered buying a van but I always use the bed for hauling stuff. I just put on vinyl bed cover and it is locked away. Very quiet on the road.
