Overview & Reviews
Ford's second-largest SUV changes little for 2001. XLT models get privacy glass as standard equipment, while the upscale Eddie Bauer trim level now comes with HomeLink and a class IV trailer towing package (4x4 models only). Eddie Bauers also get second-row leather captain's chairs and a rear-seat entertainment system as optional equipment. A new "No Boundaries" option package includes a monochromatic black exterior, side body cladding, 17-inch wheels, illuminated running boards and special front seats.
- Excellent interior design and comfort, wide-ranging versatility, impressive hauling capabilities.
- Still might be too big for some garages, lack of power, on-road comfort hurts off-road capabilities.

I call it my Expialidocious! - 2001 Ford Expedition
By TheRealSoprano - September 28 - 7:42 amI love driving my Expedition. People still are impressed by all of its fabulous features. The adjustable pedals are a must for me because I am short. I love sliding into the comfy seats after a long day on my feet, and it is so fun to drive! Thats why I call it my "Ex-pi-al-i-docious! When I first brought it home, my teenage son offered to give up his bedroom and move in to my car. He called the third row seat "stadium seating". I have never had a moment of trouble with it, and it still seems new even though I have put 100,000 miles on it.

Nice - 2001 Ford Expedition
By Stephanie - August 5 - 12:45 pmIts very nice inside and out. Ive had more than 1 Toyota and the last one i had was a 4x4 4-Runner. This expedition drives smoother than that. I was skeptical about getting another vehicle other than a Toyota but once I drove this i was happy.

Great - 2001 Ford Expedition
By Bob - June 26 - 5:33 amWe bought our 2001 EB Expedition used in 2003, and it had about 20,000 miles on it at the time. Since then we replaced the impossible to balance Goodyear tires with Coopers (like Michelins, only cheaper), and the smooth ride increased 100%. In four years, the only issues we had were the leveling system went out in the rear, and was fixed under warranty, and the backup sensors dont work from time to time. (They just beep continuously when in reverse) My wifes only complaint is that it drives like a truck (because it IS a truck) and gas mileage only averages about 14 mpg. but hey, you dont buy this car for the gas mileage.

Ford Expedition - 2001 Ford Expedition
By Carla - June 10 - 1:37 amI love everything about this truck except the gas mileage. It is a good family vehicle took 2 adults and 4 kids on a 600 mile trip with pleanty of room. Very reliable, cant complain about the way it handles on the hwy. I really enjoy driving this vehicle. It had 50,000 miles on it when I bought it 1 1/2 years ago now has 89,000 have had very little maint. had to replace 2 spark plugs and 2 coils and the brake pads. Too bad it doesnt do a little better on gas mileage.

CliFORD, the big red truck. - 2001 Ford Expedition
By RRB - March 26 - 10:28 pmI bought this with 47K and now slightly over 2 years later have 110k on it. I kind of have a love hate relationship with this vehicle but the love always wins. It has the 5.8 V8 & AWD and gets lousy mileage, averaging 12.8 with the best being 17 if you are on the highway all day. It is good looking, comfortable to drive, solid as a rock, will go anywhere and every time I look at it I still like it. The negatives are the goofy computer that runs the personal settings for the mirrors and seats which work one day and not the next. The power windows are noisy and there is wind noise from the moonroof. One set of brakes, one tune up and now on the third set of tires since new.

Great! Great! and even Greater! - 2001 Ford Expedition
By Canadian Driver - September 24 - 11:58 pmMan, I love this vehicle. I can haul my 25 foot trailer and still bring another six people along for the ride. I own all Fords, and have never owned anything else but Ford, and this goes to show you why Ive only owned Fords. The 3rd row seat is great, love the leather, and follows a good Ford theme on the outside the front looking exactly the same as a Ford F150. It has never let me down for driving through the B.C. mountains in the winter. We usually go from Invermere (in the east Kootenays) to Calgary in the winter for Christmas shopping, which is about 4 hours away, and we can do 100 kmh the whole way, with great traction and handling. Only tiff is the cheap tires.

WHATS THAT LEAKING - 2001 Ford Expedition
By THOMAS - August 2 - 1:06 amAt about 44,900 miles noticed fluid under the truck, dealership had to rebuild the transmission. The truck does not get driven hard. Thank goodness for the extended warranty. Will be trading in because I can not trust the vehicle anymore.

Comfort, Power and Style - 2001 Ford Expedition
By navyman - July 24 - 1:49 amThis is my 4th Ford. I think Ford has a very good quality product. This is a new milestone for me, my first automatic tranny Ford. I bought this truck used in Jan 04 for my wife to drive and it had only 15K miles on it and it was still under factory warranty. Currently: 43K miles. We have driven it on long trips (12 hours+) about 8 times and it makes the trip go so smoothly. The ride is very comfortable and is a real pleasure to drive. I have never had this vehicle leave my wife or me stranded. I LOVE the power and low end torque. I am very pleased with this vehicle. Maintenance: transmission flush $187 oil $360. Repairs: power mirror switch and bubbling paint on hood (warranty)

Great truck thus far - 2001 Ford Expedition
By MALCOLMCARTER - July 13 - 2:24 amI had a 97 Expedition which I just sold to a friend it had 180k and runs great! So, I just purchased 01 Eddie Bauer at an auction for $12.7 with 87k on it. Everything ok thus far, but it does make that loud murmur sound when the suspension adjustment is made when you start the truck. I love everything else but I spent a half a day at the dealership explaining that sound before the Ford representative told me about the suspension.
