Good Car - 1995 Ford Aspire
By kat - March 19 - 12:39 amThis is a fun little car. Great gas mileage (40mpg). Bought it used and has been Super reliable, Not had "any" problems, not replaced anything except tires and wipers. Handles well and good power and good brakes. Kinda funny looking from the outside (wife calls it an egg with wheels), but roomy and comfortable on the inside.

Ultra-Mega Reliable and Cheap to run - 1994 Ford Aspire
By Andrikos - September 17 - 2:00 amWell, Ive been driving it since it had 30k miles on it. Now it has 92k and has NEVER had any problems. Starts EVERY single time and does 40mpg to boot. Nothing better for a "beater" to drive to work. Im looking to buy a used Mercedes and I cringe at the prospect of maintenance costs. I guess the "little red car" has spoiled me rotten...

A good car... for the price. - 1995 Ford Aspire
By J Bourdeaux - May 7 - 2:00 amIt has been a fine car, great on gas mileage, even now at 121K, I still average 36 MPG. But with that great MPG, power is sacrificed, which is to be expected. Consumer Reports correctly stated that the Aspire is painfully underpowered. Although I can zip in and out of traffic, I cant accelerate up steep hills. It has been relatively maintenance free. In 8 years, Ive replaced the tires two or three times, struts twice (I guess I hauled too much with all the room in the back), brakes once, exhaust, headlights, rotor, cap, and timing belt. The road noise is somewhat pronounced. Overall, its been reliable, a fine investment, and has served me very well.

My Putt-Putt Puddle Jumper - 1994 Ford Aspire
By dward - May 4 - 2:00 amMy parents didnt know how to drive a 5 speed so the car sat in their yard for a year. It was mine for the cost of safetying. Since then Ive spent on nothing but upkeep. I love the car for the city, but I find performance on the highway lacking. Ive had no problem with rust or major repairs and I live on the ocean in the snow belt. Ive driven more than 450kms on one tank (about 15kms/L or 60m/G). It costs more for a metro bus pass than it does to run my little Putt-Putt Grasshopper Puddle Jumper for a month. My friends tease me but they say, the more nicknames you have for something, the more you must like it. I love it.

cheap transportation - 1994 Ford Aspire
By Breanna - March 22 - 2:00 amI have owned this car for almost 4 years. I have had problems with the following: does not like to start in the rain, change plugs and wires yearly, passenger side door & hatch leaks in the car wash, front bushings (very expensive part), and the gas tank and related items. I think it’s a good car if you can get scrap parts, as new parts are VERY expensive . I bought the car with 90,000 KM in the year 2000 and it has 145,000 KM now, it has cost me about $70 CND a month to maintain over the 43 months I have owned it. Good cheap transportation if you don’t have far to drive.

Has sides like butter - 1997 Ford Aspire
By Tia Chang - March 20 - 2:00 amThe transmission on my car went at 50,000, and the dealer wouldnt replace it. One person ran into it (just with his body, not a car) and left a big dent in the side. The air conditioning went out at 75,000 miles. The salt on the roads has eroded the muffler and loosened the catalytic converter cap, no matter how often I get it replaced. On the plus side, it gets great gas mileage, and you can fit a surprising amount into it. Also can park it in very tight spots.
