This Year's Model Updates:

Two trim levels have been added -- SXT and SLT Adventurer. The SXT features roof rails, running boards and side moldings. The Adventurer includes a Thule roof rack, side steps, slush mats, cargo liner and organizer and unique wheels. Cloth heated seats are standard on all models this year (except the Limited, which sticks with leather heated seats). A full-screen navigation system is newly available.

Pros:
  • Strong V8 engines, agile handling, excellent ride quality, capable off-road, lots of cargo capacity, simple controls.
Cons:
  • Lousy mileage, sloppy fit and finish, needs more second-row legroom and storage, no stability control or parking sensors.

My husband and I wanted a Durango for years so we decided to purchase one a 1 1/2 yr ago. We did not have any major problems with this vehicle until around 25,500 miles on it. Now we are experiencing stalling periodically, a loud noise in the front left tire/engine under the vehicle area, and a loose felling in the steering. The rack and pinion has been replaced twice and it has been in the shop around 15 days in a 4 week period. I cant imagine that a certified mechanic can not hear the noise in the front and not being able to fix the problem. Not including the fact that the vehicle stalls when you least expect it. Very scary.

I love my 2005 SLT Durango. I went with the V6 and love it. It has enough power for me. This is my 1st Dodge. We shopped around and found the Durango to be the best for the price.

I bought this vehicle in Feb of 2006 and could not be happier! The vehicle runs great. All problems have been covered by the awesome warranty.

This SUV was purchased with 38600 miles, but runs like a new vehicle. It is far superior to my previous Pathfinder in ride and performance. The interior is spacious and well designed. My next vehicle will be a Durango as well.

Love the Hemi, powerfull yet quiet. Great for coastal roads and long hauls. Gets better mileage with speed, so I suggest investing in a radar detector.

  • Very Disappointed - 2005 Dodge Durango

Love the looks, interior build quality is great, 3rd row of seats is big enough for 2 adults and with those folded down we can store a ton of stuff. Been on a few very long journeys and it has driven well. Smooth, DVD player in the back has kept the kids happy. But after 18,000 the transmission completely siezed on my wife and we had to get a whole new one. Now lost confidence in the car and then had a product recall (# G07). Thankfully just leasing so will return the SUV next summer and run like mad from the dealership. Its a real shame as I loved it for the first 18 months.

This is the 3rd SUV I have owned and I like far better than the other two(1996 Explorer and 2001 Pathfinder). The ride is similar to that of a luxury car in terms of comfort and noise. The 3rd row of seats is actually easy to use and big enough for two adults. Overall I think its a great vehicle.

  • Happy, but not completely satisfied. - 2005 Dodge Durango

For its cost, I think this is a very good vehicle. I have the Hemi engine and it has plenty of power for towing, etc., and the ride is exceptional for a AWD SUV. I love the "bluetooth" U- Connect phone option and the "Sirius" satelite radio. However, there are some things that bother me about it. The interior plastics look a little cheap and too dark. The leg room in the 2nd row is tight, especially in the center position, and I wish the the floor over the 3rd row would fold flat. I also miss the interior room of my old Yukon and having "Onstar" and daytime headlights. Ive noticed the front door hinges appear to be loose, but they arent, the atachment points are flexing for some reason.

I love my Durango and my wife says its the only kind of vehicle that Im ever allowed to purchase her. Be warned though, gas mileage stinks!

I have every option. Mechanically, Ive changed the oil and she runs and runs. Interior build quality is a joke, Ive had numerous parts just fall off including the infamous seat belt holder and the door reflectors on both sides. The air conditioning stinks. Heater blower too. The light tan interior is a super pain to keep clean especially the arm rest. Mileage is a joke for a few reasons. Number one. The computer mileage is not even close to being accurate. Two, my odometer is off 7%. Therefore if I travel 100 actual land miles my Durango says I went 107. Dealer says no fix. I say extend my warranty 2500 miles. Well we all know where that got me. The usual dumb look from the service manager.
