This Year's Model Updates:

Two trim levels have been added -- SXT and SLT Adventurer. The SXT features roof rails, running boards and side moldings. The Adventurer includes a Thule roof rack, side steps, slush mats, cargo liner and organizer and unique wheels. Cloth heated seats are standard on all models this year (except the Limited, which sticks with leather heated seats). A full-screen navigation system is newly available.

Pros:
  • Strong V8 engines, agile handling, excellent ride quality, capable off-road, lots of cargo capacity, simple controls.
Cons:
  • Lousy mileage, sloppy fit and finish, needs more second-row legroom and storage, no stability control or parking sensors.

No complaints. We haul a large camper, and it handles and performs wonderfully. Solid and dependable.

  • Love My Hemi - 2005 Dodge Durango

This thing is fantastic, this is the first new vehicle I have ever purchased. Decided I would go all out with the Limited/Hemi/Nav Package. Power is fantastic, seats are comfortable, ride is unbeatable and this thing is super quiet inside. I cant believe Im driving an SUV. Traded my 300M in on this and am very satisfied. Swore I would never buy another new vehicle due to depreciation but after falling in love with this truck I would not hesitate in buying another one! Highway mileage around 20-22 mpg, city mileage around 10-16 depending on how much I get into the throttle not bad for a 5000# truck.

This vehicle is as advertised on the sticker, fuel mileage has been better than expected. I have two complaints after almost 30,000 miles. It needs at least two more inches of driver seat hip room and back up sensors. The Hemi is great, very responsive.

Terrible build quality, cheap interior, horrible dealership experiences in the shop! Poor fit and finish outside. Sqeaking rattling piece of junk! Gas guzzler!

The Durango is one on the best SUVs I ever owned. I have never had a problem with this vehicle. I would have no problem buying another Dodge Durango in the future.

  • Confussing models - 2005 Dodge Durango

I had an 05 SLT last year tradeed for a limited. The limited has a lot better quality upgrades such as the leather is softer, the door panels are a thin softer material but still way too much plastic, rides real smooth. The models are too confussing. My 05 SLTcame with leather, 4.7, hub caps, no overhead console for gas and mileage read out etc. All SLTs should come with mag wheels and overhead readouts. The limiteds should come with everything. My limited is missing tow, dvd, nav, hemi, chrome wheels. Why is it called a limited?

The 2005 Durango SLT is my third Durango in a row. It is awesome. I am 65" and love the head room in this vehicle. The Hemi lets me power my way through highways. I never feel like I need more power. I like its tough rugged looks while at the same time giving my family a comfortable and roomy interior for long trips. We took it to the Mall of America packed with 5 adults and one child in child seat and still had plenty of room for the shopping on the way home. One of the great things about this vehicle is the 90 degrees of range to the passanger doors. That is really useful. Not to mention the 4x4 capability. All kinds of storms and you are cozy inside! Thank you Durango!

  • Best SUV - 2005 Dodge Durango

Most incredible ride I have ever had from an SUV. Rides like a Cadillac. Handles great. Hemi has plenty of power, and fuel mileage is what you should expect. In general we get 16.5 mpg. But just highway driving at 70 mph with cruise we get 21 mpg. Thats pretty darn good. Also, it tows our 8800 lb boat fine as far as power is concerned, but we had to add air bags inside the coil springs to get more weight to the front axle for better handling. Dodge should offer an airbag suspension leveling system like some other manufacturers. With 23,000 miles now we have had no problems and no complaints.

Great auto, lots of power. Gas mileage is poor. Inside lots of cheap plastic. Rebuild the inside with premimum products, dont go cheap. Move the fuse box. My foot knocks off the fuse box door, that is a pain. The seat belt needs to be longer. I am a big guy. Change the instrument light to a more fun color have fun with inside lighting. Its a dream to drive, just need to upgrade the inside to have a real winner.
