Only a year after a complete redesign, the 2006 Dodge Dakota has undergone a number of changes. Among the updates are a new optional sunroof, upgraded audio systems with a jack for portable music players, extended-cab rear doors that open nearly 180 degrees and a revised four-speed automatic transmission that improves fuel economy on V6 models. New packages this year include the TRX with unique wheels and off-road tires, the R/T with a high-output V8 and appearance package, and the Night Runner that features unique blacked-out paint treatment.

New truck - 2006 Dodge Dakota
By frank g erwin jr - April 12 - 9:57 amI purchased a 2006 Dodge Dakota in Feb and have two thousand miles on it. I have noticed the manual shift shakes a lot if in high gear and hitting a bump. I have also noticed a lot of valve clatter if in low gears and under stress (going up a hill).a Also its getting terrible gas mileage. I would not buy another Dodge product at this time---buyer beware.

Before my new Dodge Dakota 2005 was purchased, my first truck I bought in 1996 and it really made me feel good about driving. And I continued that same feeling buying the 2005 model and am loving even more! So if you are looking for a truck out there that is relatively inexpensive, has a great look to it, and comes with a variety of options, then the Dodge Dakota is exactly what you are looking for! :-)
