This Year's Model Updates:

For 2003, a new trim package, named The North Face Edition, comes with items that Chevy hopes will attract people who like to venture off the beaten path. Starting with a TrailBlazer LTZ or TrailBlazer EXT with the Leather Plus Package, Chevy adds body-color cladding, unique seats, mesh map pockets, rain-sensing wipers, liftgate lighting, an underfloor storage cargo liner, heavy-duty cargo mats, an adjustable cargo shelf (EXT model only) and The North Face duffel bags and blanket. Not for you? Perhaps a V8 will suit your fancy. Chevy's 5.3-liter V8 is available on the TrailBlazer EXT only. Other changes for 2003 include a larger 22-gallon fuel tank (late fall availability) and additional child-seat anchors on EXT models. Chevy has also made some previously standard equipment optional, such as the side airbags, rear cargo shade, interior lighting and auto-dimming driver-side mirror.

Pros:
  • Class-leading engine power, soft highway ride, room for seven in the EXT version.

We received the vehicle and the bolts came off a electrical module connected to the engine. There were several rattles not yet fixed or found. The steering wheel was crooked and the dealership tried to say it was because all roads slanted to the right. There is a loud rattle in the engine when the vehicle is switching out of 1st gear.

Bought the Trailblazer in December and immediately drove to Lake Tahoe (1000 miles total). The 4WD handled awesomely in 1 ft of snow and the truck powered reasonably well up the higher mountain passes; tho it did down-shift two gears occasionally to maintain speed. The ride is amazing, *very* comfortable and yet the truck sticks to the road. The front seats could use more side support (lucky that even the drivers side has a hand-hold cause Ive needed it on a few turns). I havent had any issues with the headlights as some other reviews have noted; including driving in the very dark Tahoe area. Been getting ~14/18 mpg.

This truck has an impressive engine. It has a lot more horsepower than other V8 suv/trucks out there. I agree the interior needs more work...exterior looks awesome...better than its closer "brother" GMC Envoy.

I bought my LS right off the lot, brand new. I loved it, handled great, felt comfortable, felt expensive. At 50000 miles everything went downhill. The fan clutch went out, factory defect, known by GM. I had to replace it twice. AT 60000 miles the shifter would stick and not move, found a broken wire under the console. The fuel pump started spewing gas, after I repaired it, GM sent a letter with an offer to replace it--too late for me. Gas mileage was perfectly awful, I live on a mountain, it took a quarter tank of gas to down then up. The older the car got the worse it became.

We bought our Trailblazer used in December 2003 with @16,500 miles on it. Its loaded with all the toys, leather, etc. So far Ive enjoyed this car even more than I thought I would. Hard to beat on long trips with the kids. Plenty of room, smooth ride. Not great gas mileage around town, but can get @20 miles per gallon on highway.

Bought a new trailblazer and within a day the locks on the drivers door broke and the steering rack blew out, It looked great on the back of the tow truck though. I hope its a fluke but my confidence is shot!

I’m a Chevy buyer. Started with a Cavalier 25 years ago, and worked my way up to the Trail Blazer. I love it. It’s stylish and reliable. It still looks brand new, and rides as smooth as the day I purchased it.

The EXT is amazing, way more space than the Explorer or Durango, better fuel economy than both, with more torque and horsepower. The third row of seats have alot of leg room, and are elevated a little higher than the other seats. Nice quiet ride, smmoth; get the BOSE sound system (optional) This vehicle rides so well you get addicted. It also feels so comfy. Looks slicker and classier than the other SUVs in this class. Lovin it! the 4.2 V-6? Much quieter than GMs other 4.3 V-6. LOTs of power...275 horse, 275 torque!
