  • Not Very Reliable - 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe
    By -

Although my Tahoe LTZ has never left me on the side of the road, Ive had my share of expensive problems with it. I have had to replace the lifters because one of them was stuck. Chevy dealership told me theyd cut me a "deal" and repair it for $2500. I took it to a trusted shop in town and spent $1800 on parts and labor. On our last visit to the dealership, we were told our front differential would need to be replaced and this would cost around $2500 as well. The mechanic even suggested we think about trading our Tahoe in...real reassuring right? I have Lexus GS400 that is almost 10 years older than this truck and it still runs like a champ and Ive only had a few minor repairs here or there. The interior of the truck is nice. My toddler enjoys the DVD player. The 3rd row seating is a little cramped and the storage behind the 3rd row seat is almost nonexistent. The dash cracks. The door handles peel. These are little things I have learned to deal with. I love the look of the Tahoe but I hate that were running in to so many problems and we havent even reached 200k miles yet.

  • BE CAUTIOUS - 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe

this is a out standing car for the most part but there are some down sides engineering wise. first of all the interior is fill with cheap plastic that cracks. second it burns through brakes like a race car and the most important in this segment of this car 2006 and up to present. the car has a defect in the engine where it causes oil to seap in to the cylinder and get burned up. well that may not sound bad at first but it begins to use oil in between oil changes. and the only to fix is buy new pistons or a new engine. mine is up to 2 quarts in between oil changes (3000 miles)

  • Oil consumption problem. Motor damage. - 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe
    By -

I feel I have been taken advantage of by GM. My wife called me today while driving my daughter back from a doctors appointment to tell me the engine was making a funny noise. I asked all the normal questions if any trouble lights are on or what all the gauges say. Everything was normal. I told her to drive to nearby dealership. Ended up oil was low. $150 dollars later in rental car fees for 1 day and $100 service oil was added and some additive also for sound when engine was running which will sit over night for check in morning. I start researching on-line and called a family member that works at a chevy dealership and I am shocked!Well documented cases of major oil loss issues.

  • Really? It needs a new engine at 80K? - 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe
    By -

Thought I was getting a great deal to purchase an 07 Tahoe with 58K, but at 80K, it left me high and dry at the side of the road. The valve spring broke, dropping the valve and ruining the piston. Just past the 5 year/1000 Warranty. After it was all said and done, I paid an engine rebuilding place to fix my existing motor (thank God the block was not damaged) $3600 to rebuild my motor. Wish rear seats laid flat for more interior cargo space. Chevy dealership only wanted to sell me a new GM motor for $7,000. Will never go to the dealership, they do nothing but gouge. Young Chevrolet, East Dallas... buyer beware.

  • Too Many Problems - 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe
    By -

Too many issues with this vehicle after the 4th year. The cylinder was misfiring causing the truck to shut down in the middle of the street. Also, we paid $1,100 for sensors to be replaced before we were able to get a tag last year. This year has been the worse. Despite $2,000 in repairs the check engine light has yet to go off. There is no warranty at this point. The Tahoe is sitting in my driveway because I cant get a tag with the check engine light on.

  • Never buying Chevrolet or GM again... - 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe
    By -

Bought our Tahoe in 07 with only 20K mi.Got a great deal & were thrilled to have something nice. SUCKERS! We now have 93K mi & pray every day itd get struck by lightning. Weve done all maintenece & we even put in a transmission cooler! *bad alternator + other charging system issues.*transmission rebuild @ 35K miles, at 80K started acting up, I think needs new torque converter since not done when rebuilt but wont pay for it, though under warranty.*started burning oil, after PITA "oil consumption" testing they agreed to install a deflector (have a TB about AFM) & they replaced all the pistons and rings too.*cheap materials, molding faded, door handles peeled, plastic int. pieces have broken.

  • Never again - 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe
    By -

I have bought many new GM products and have been pretty pleased but this 07 Tahoe is the biggest bag of crap I have ever owned. Every month my dashboard gets another crack in it, AC/heat does what it wants to do, power seats are a joke at best, wires for rear defrost have come un-soldered from the window, it locks and unlocks when it feels like it, a new battery every 9 months to a year and the latest is $2k spent repairing the rear end because of incorrect ring and pinion alignment. This bag of crap has only 45k miles on it. Way to go gm! Never again!

  • If I could only do it all over again! - 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe
    By -

This vehicle drives ok but has many flaws, It would be a great vehicle if it were price more in line with the quality. This is a great $25,000 vehicle but is no where near a $50,000 vehicle as sold! I have service lights on that have been on since the day I bought it and neither the dealer or GM could fix or compensate for, Fuel mileage is not only not even close to what was estimated but someone should be ashamed! There is no storage, my 98 Grand Cherokee had much more room after storage! (hard to believe!) Poor tire wear, Air conditioning is intermittent without reason and dont plan on listening to the radio without it running or after 30-45 minutes you will need a jump! I miss my Jeep!

  • Tahoe has gotta go - 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe
    By -

bought a used 2007 LTZ with everything except for folding running boards. The first car I have actually loved. 3 rows of captain chairs, all black leather, nav, rear dvd etc etc, then newness wore off. coming from dodge 2500 turbo diesel, pulling a 3500lb boat, this motor is way too small for interstate passing even in FLA. Have way to many electrical gremlins that surface then go away. Tired of the rear end clunk. Very tired of the 13mpg city 16.5mpg hiway mileage without pulling a boat> AND THE OTHER ISSUE, go online and look for tahoe dash crack. Mine has 2 cracks now, called gm, brought it to local palm chevy, they verified, gm called back and said too bad, not going to cover. car is

  • Trade offs for mileage - 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe
    By -

I like the size of the interior, but ergonomically this vehicle is challenged. Keep hitting the 4 wheel drive knob with my knee getting out. No creature comforts such as change holder, sunglass storage, etc. It holds everything I can pack into it. Had the dead battery issue. Had battery changed at my expense because the dealer said it was good. No more battery issue. I have 70,000 miles and get 17 MPG. The way to do it is coast on every downhill stretch of road, even the short ones. Coast to every red light. Need tires now. Had uneven tire wear but got 70,000 via frequent rotation. So far no mechanical problems. The seals are poor and the ride is loud, as everyone else has said.
