This Year's Model Updates:

The Suburban gets numerous functional enhancements for 2003. The Quadrasteer four-wheel steering system is now available on 3/4-ton models for increased maneuverability and better stability when towing, while 1/2-ton versions now offer the StabiliTrak stability control system. New power heated mirrors feature puddle lamps, in-glass turn signal indicators and a memory function, and extendable power camper mirrors are optional. The interior gets numerous upgrades that include tri-zone climate control, an enhanced driver-information center, a redesigned center console and options such as second-row captain's chairs and adjustable pedals. A revised lineup of entertainment options includes a Bose audio system as well as XM Satellite Radio and a DVD-based entertainment system. For increased safety, the Suburban now features a standard front-passenger-sensing system and dual-stage airbags.

Pros:
  • Choice of powerful V8 engines, Quadrasteer four-wheel steering system, cavernous cargo space, room for nine.
Cons:
  • Massive size can be tough in tight confines, vague steering feel, cheap interior plastics.

  • Big, comfortable, reliable, nice driver - 2003 Chevrolet Suburban
    By -

We have had four Suburbans since 1995. All of them have been better than the last. The 2003 is by far the nicest and best riding of the four. Ours has everything but DVD and middle captains seats. We have had no major problems in 44K miles. Several small things were dealt with under warranty, but no big deal. We get fair mielage, about 15, and we are suprised at how fast and powerful this is with a 5.3 motor. With our kids grown and out of the house, we went without a Suburban for 3 months, then decided to get this 2003. Are we happy we got one more.

  • Excellent Large Family Vehicle - 2003 Chevrolet Suburban
    By -

Weve had our Suburban for almost a year...including a 3,000 mile vacation trip. With a family of 6...we all agree it is the most comfortable vehicle weve ever driven. The back has plenty of room for storage when taking kids to/from activities and hauling gear (like attending sporting events and carrying the kids equipment). So far...weve had no problems with vehicle. Highly recommended for someone hauling lots of people and stuff. Very reasonable price for what we got.

  • 2003 Z71 - 2003 Chevrolet Suburban
    By -

Great choice! went with the 03 Z71 after a Chevy WB Venture. I we took a black one on the lot over a white. Only things missing were the heated seats:( It had the sunroof so we had the dealer install the DVD right behind it, no problems. Room for 7 with the second row buckets. Once put 15 sheets of drywall in the back and only folded the seats down! We did not get much snow this year so I might have tio ry to find some mud!!

  • Excellent Family Value - 2003 Chevrolet Suburban
    By -

This has to be the best Family value out there. It has everything we need. Gas mileage is bad but the rest of the truck makes up for that. Most importantly is the safety and comfort. I have the 8.1L engine and the truck feels like a race car. I tow a camper and a boat so the engine is a plus. Would have been a good idea to put a diesel in it.

  • 4-wheel Steering is Great! - 2003 Chevrolet Suburban
    By -

Had the 3/4 ton for 9 months now. Wanted 6.0 liter so ended up with 4-wheel steering and all the toys. Its been great driving all over the Southwest, towing a 6,000 lb trailer and three children. Leather, heated seats, DVD panel for children, 4.1 ratio on rearr axle for towing its all good. One complaint is the third row gets jarred when crossing speed bumps. Must be that heavy duty, solid rear axle. WARNING: Take a few weeks to get used to 4-wheel steering, especially before towing. Had an unfortunate accident caused by unfamiliarity. I turned front wheels left, rears went right and shoved trailer into telephone pole while "helping" me turn out faster. $1500

  • Great Truck - 2003 Chevrolet Suburban
    By -

This Z71 is our first Suburban and everything has been fantastic. 23K miles so far and not a single problem! We tow a large boat and its up to the task. Gas mileage is same as my 1995 Grand Cherokee 6cyl (combined 13.5 mpg), but highway is around 18- 19. No complaints at all - its a first class ride.

Picked up last week of October. Break in milegage (under 60) was 21.5 mpg. Mileage drops off over 60. Comfort is great, as well as roominess.

  • 2003 SUBURBAN SOUTHERN COMFORT CONVERSION - 2003 Chevrolet Suburban
    By -

Southern Comfort advertised this conversion as the "Ultimate". I agree. I have 197,000 miles on this Suburban and feel I could get another 190,000 miles out of it. I wax the car every 9 months with Maguiers Carnauba Wax and the Suburban looks nearly new. The ride is superb. Only average 13 MPG. I traveled for a living before I retired and put 130,000 miles on the road. The Suburban is absolutely beautiful. I purchased the Conversion from Moritz Chevrolet in Ft. Worth and their service was tremendous. They dont make conversions like this Suburban any more.

  • I love my truck! - 2003 Chevrolet Suburban
    By -

I bought my Suburban Z71 when I had my third child. I needed a comfortable 3rd row plus cargo space. I was a bit apprehensive about maneuvering a big SUV after owning a Blazer, but it was no problem. I love the size, the styling and the comfort. The Z71 add ons make it even better looking. I have been thoroughly happy with my truck and would highly recommend it!

  • Not Bad - 2003 Chevrolet Suburban
    By -

I didnt intend to purchase this vehicle but after a test drive I was sold. The only disappointment was the front end which killed my first set of tires within 20000 miles. After that scene Ive been able to really enjoy my Suburban.
