This Year's Model Updates:

The Suburban gets numerous functional enhancements for 2003. The Quadrasteer four-wheel steering system is now available on 3/4-ton models for increased maneuverability and better stability when towing, while 1/2-ton versions now offer the StabiliTrak stability control system. New power heated mirrors feature puddle lamps, in-glass turn signal indicators and a memory function, and extendable power camper mirrors are optional. The interior gets numerous upgrades that include tri-zone climate control, an enhanced driver-information center, a redesigned center console and options such as second-row captain's chairs and adjustable pedals. A revised lineup of entertainment options includes a Bose audio system as well as XM Satellite Radio and a DVD-based entertainment system. For increased safety, the Suburban now features a standard front-passenger-sensing system and dual-stage airbags.

Pros:
  • Choice of powerful V8 engines, Quadrasteer four-wheel steering system, cavernous cargo space, room for nine.
Cons:
  • Massive size can be tough in tight confines, vague steering feel, cheap interior plastics.

19,500 miles not one trip to the dealer for anything beside routine maint. very pleased with the 5.3L. we tow a 2 horse trailer as well as farm equipment with no problems. Tow haul mode works well. Z71 pkg with 17 inch tires push this truck through the mud / snow with the posi hooking up quickly. I have played hard with this truck and have not buried it once. Best two tank average towing, with 6 people. 14 mpg, best two tank average 6 passengers no towing 18mpg. the Z71 pkg is a stiffer ride than regular but that is what i ordered. Fit and paint look great. I/P is laid out well, auto fwd engages very fast once initial wheel spin is observed.

Its roomy, quite comfortable, rides great, great fit and finnish. Should I go on! This is my second Suburban in 2 years. My first a 2000 LS was traded in only because I wanted to get out of my lease. I had absolutely no problems with it. However, my 2002 seems "tighter". The 02 was manufactured in Wisconsin and the 2000 was out of Mexico. Shouldnt be any difference but I do notice subtle differences.

We have owned our 1500 LT (w/autoride) for close to two years. We routinely load our car with six people. We have crossed the USA and made several interstate trips. Weve driven in snow and off road in the Mojave Desert. We have realized 18 mpg on the highways … not too bad considering much smaller cars (read sport cars) and smaller SUVs get worse. In short, I feel very fortunate to own such a safe and well performing car. One problem, however, was that the sunroof motor had to be replaced. If you are considering a large SUV, you owe it to yourself to experience the Suburban.

WOW, What a ride! Upgraded from an Explorer for the room but, got a whole lot more. I love this vehicle. The XM and Bosesound is incredible for a truck. The kids love the room and the DVD sytem in the back and with the wireless headsets we are all happy!!

The Suburban handles like a car. After driving many of the other full size SUVs, we were pleasantly suprised to come across the Suburban. The roomy interior and room in the back makes all the difference for large families.

I bought this vehicle to commute long distances. It has excellent ease of use cruise control coupled with the smart review view mirror and side mirrors. Visibility and ride characteristics are great in ALL weather conditions, night and day. I have really enjoyed the heated seats during winter weather conditions and love the autoride suspension that smooths the road out, even in rough road conditions. I feel very safe in this car and after my first 10K miles, have had nothing but good performance from this vehicle.

A great Truck! Of course we purchased our 2001 Suburban for our rescued greyhound who likes to travel. Plenty of room for the way we pack(for a month regardless) and Cutter too! Plus a comfortable ride with my 20ft. Ranger tagging along behind(like its not even there) when we are filming a local Outdoor TV show. Again, plenty of room for our luggage, cameras, and other gear. Hunting shows are no problem either.... especially in this part of the country where you pack for cool, warm, and cold. Just a great all around truck and Im getting ready to purchase a 2003.

EVERYTHING GOOD SO FAR EXCEPT FOR SOME NOISES COMING FROM THE CONSOLE. I GUESS IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER / HEATER. BESIDES THAT, EVERYTHINGS GREAT.
