  • DO NOT BUY THIS CAR!!! - 2016 Chevrolet Malibu

Bought mine in February. It only has 12000 miles on it. THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP FAILED stranding me and in the process totally destroyed a piston and some other things. The dealer has taken over a week to even come up with the part and actually since these are MAJOR components on a NEW, I would prefer for them just to replace the engine. THERE IS ALSO ANOTHER 2016 MALIBU in the dealership waiting on parts FOR THE SAME ISSUE. Car is a nice, fancy, UNRELIABLE POS.

For consumers out there stay away like the plague!! The car is a year old, and has been in the shop three times in the last month. Check engine light keeps coming on,battery died, and the windshield wiper pump went all with less than 30,000 miles. The latest incident the check engine light went on,and killed the power to the car. My wife was able to limp into the parking garage at work at 5mph. She drives 40 miles one way to work, and I bought the car for reliable transportation to Detroit. My Saturn with 130k is a better option. I am in the process of trying to get GM to buy back the car. Absolute piece of junk is to kind for this car!!

  • Motor poorly made - 2016 Chevrolet Malibu

GM is having trouble with the motors dropping the pistons. Instead of replacing parts to correct the problem. They have decided to change the oil type the car uses and do adjustments to the computer to try and correct the problem. Not a good fix, my 2016 Malibu dropped a piston at 67000 miles, and it was well maintenance. I would not recommend this car to anyone.

  • Worst decision Ive ever made. - 2016 Chevrolet Malibu

Bought this vehicle with 2 miles on it, have had several occasions the brakes go out randomly, the electronic navi goes out randomly, and the engine is terrible. im now in a battle with the dealership because the engine has [non-permissible content removed] as well as many other customers but they will not waranty my vehicle because i didnt have the oil serviced at the dealership. WORST CAR BUY EVER, and all the Chevy vehicles Ive bought this one has definitely made me consider kia or honda the next time i purchase a vehicle. (Ive owned an Impala, Camaro, Silverado, Cavalier)

This is the Premier line which also sums up my disappointment in the car. The under dash rattle is in harmony with the door panels that chatter. The last GM I bought was 1988 and it will be another 30 years maybe before I try one again. In our family between the two GMs, 3 jeeps, 2 dodges, 1 Ford, 3 Honda,s and 2 Hyundais prove that cars can be made that dont rattle. Its a sexy car and semi-fun to drive, just not enjoyable to own. It is a bad copy of a good import.

  • GM MAKES JUNK - 2016 Chevrolet Malibu

DONT buy this car with the start / stop system you will hate it, it works when it wants to. The transmission is so clunky, the car skips and lunges when you least expect. Lets not forget the dealerships are not telling you about the start/stop system, when I test drove mine it never shut off once until I got home and drove it that night(Thursday). I called the dealership they told me to bring it in Monday, then they said " What your experiencing is the start/stop system. I told them I didnt want the car, they told me too bad. I HATE this car, its JUNK!!!!!!!!!

  • 47/48 mpg is a straight up lie! - 2016 Chevrolet Malibu

I bought a 16 Malibu hybrid to replace my Jetta tdi (scandal buyback) from the first tank I was skeptical of the posted fuel economy, my dealer had excuse after excuse( break in, cold weather, driving habits) for the poor fuel economy, I have yet to get better than 35 mpg out of a tank, lifetime average of 34.7mpg over 6300 miles. I drive 60,000 miles per year which translates to an extra $2000 in fuel costs getting only 75% of the window sticker economy of 48 mpg. I contacted gm but they would do nothing at all and said it had to be my driving habit. Given my vw is a diesel and not a hybrid, its rated for 42mpg and since 2013 Ive had very few tanks of fuel less than 50mpg (8 mpg over rating) so Im fairly certain its not me. 2017 malibu hybrid is rated for 6 less mpg than 2016, odd considering the power train hasnt changed, hope they start a class action against gm, Ill join in! And for anyone thinking Im a gm hater, Im not, I also have a 15 duramax sierra Denali, a 14 Acadia Denali, an 02 quadrasteer sierra Denali and an 06 envoy, all of which Ive been very happy with. I can honestly say after this experience Ill never buy another gm product, not for the car itself, but for the way I was treated, gm may as well just said "hey, thanks for being loyal and spending almost a quarter million dollars on our vehicles in the past ten years, now bend over and accept our thank you" because thats how i interpreted it! Long story short, Stay away from the hybrid!!!! And if you buy any Malibu, invest in a travel pillow for your back, youll need it if you drive more than a half hour!

After having car for 5 months, I had 10 things wrong with it. The dealer kept my car for 1.5 weeks, only for them to tell me they couldnt duplicate any of my complaints. First, the drivers door=was misalingned from factory, after dealer "realingned door, then it wouldnt close properly. It ripped the rubber gaskets. Also, the drivers door lock on the handle was getting so it wouldnt work (had to press the button at least 6 times to get it to unlock). The drivers seat bottom had a "loose" feeling to it when going around corners, told the dealer they wouldnt feel it in the city (straight roads), they couldnt get it to do it. The list goes on, too much for this review. All I know is after 5 months, I took a hit and unloaded this car and bought the Ford Fusion, MUCH better car and was cheaper than the malibu!!
