This Year's Model Updates:

For 2010, the Chevy Malibu gets minor changes. Most notably, the six-speed automatic transmission is now standard on all but the base LS model, thereby helping to improve fuel economy. There's also standard driver power-adjustable lumbar on all models and E85 fuel compatibility for the 2.4-liter engine.

Pros:
  • Strong performance from V6, good four-cylinder fuel economy, excellent ride and handling balance, comfortable seats, straightforward controls, high crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Subpar rear seat space, no rear center armrest, hit-or-miss cabin materials and construction, a few key features are unavailable.

  • Interior Design Flaws - 2010 Chevrolet Malibu

Interior shiny chrome features near gear shift and dash area blind the driver during daytime driving. Matte silver would be a safer design option. Radio buttons on steering wheel should be on LEFT side, since most people utilize their right hand to do other things besides drive (talk on phone, drink beverage, get items from passenger seat, etc)

Ive owned the Malibu for a few months and I am delighted with the vehicle. The exterior looks with the 17" chrome wheels is very sharp and the 2 tone interior and is contemporary and very clean. Build quality has been great and the car is fun to drive. Road handling, suspension and driving dynamics are all very impressive. Best testimonial - My kids love to drive that car and think it looks very cool!

  • Total Transmission Failure - 2010 Chevrolet Malibu

I bought this beautiful brand new Malibu LT after driving only GM trucks for a long time. What a great car! But after owning it just short of 3 months, and only 1500 miles, it has had three major problems develop, all within 24 hrs: 1) dash lights went off and on, 2) cruise control engaged and accelerated on its own, going uphill, 3) total transmission failure! The repairing dealership has had it a week and is now taking out the entire transmission for replacement. This car is obviously a lemon and we have asked for our money back! No response as yet. Does GM care about rebuilding their image? We shall see how we are treated.

I am a 78 year old driver and being a salesman for many years driving a new car every year I have had a lot of experience with different cars. Driving this little car home was a great experience. I got it Jan 25, 2010 an so far have 1700 miles on it. Gas mileage is excellent 26 town and 33- 35 using the cruise. Great car for the money!! Fun to drive!!!

Absolutely love the styling and comfort of this car. Classic good looks that wont get "old". Seats are comfortable and the ride is amazing. Also love all of the little niceties such as the bluetooth, heated seats, sunroof, Onstar etc. Had money down on a new Sonata...put them side by side and opted for the Malibu, havent been sorry. Its been a long time since Ive been this happy with a purchase!

Owned an 08 Dodge Avenger that could have been a good car but it was time for it to go so I researched the Malibu extensively before contacting a dealer. I really wanted a six cylinder engine but was pleasantly surprised by the 4 cylinder engine power so I didnt see the need to spend the extra cash on a six. This car is a great buy and good value for the money.

  • Love my 2010 Malibu Great Car - 2010 Chevrolet Malibu

Ive had my 2010 Malibu LTZ (4 cyl engine) for 3 months now and absolutely love this car. I replaced my 2001 Grand Am SE (6 cyl eng) which I had purchased new in 2000. The new car "wow" feeling of this Malibu is still great after 3 months. Performance of 4 cyl engine is very good. If you are inclined to think you need the 6 cyl (like I was) I recommend you at least test drive a 4 cyl. Car is so quite and ride very smooth. Quality and fit and finish all seem excellent. Interior very spacious. Im getting 27 mpg in mixed driving and got 34 on my one pure highway trip so far. 8 way adjustable seat for driver is great. Cant imagine anyone not finding a good setting.

  • Happy so far - 2010 Chevrolet Malibu

Purchased this car after having two Chrysler 300s. Was impressed with the drive and interior features/appointments the Malibu offered. Biggest issue is getting used to less interior room compared to the 300, but this car offered more with the satellite radio, hands free Bluetooth, etc. Primary issue Im having is the steering tends to want to drift right. I already had this in the dealer and they made an adjustment and it still does it. A bit frustrating. Also the steering when turning doesnt appear overly smooth, but getting used to it. Also dont really care for the location of the manual shifting levers on the steering wheel. Mileage is decent and overall I am satisfied.
