This Year's Model Updates:

For 2010, the Chevy Malibu gets minor changes. Most notably, the six-speed automatic transmission is now standard on all but the base LS model, thereby helping to improve fuel economy. There's also standard driver power-adjustable lumbar on all models and E85 fuel compatibility for the 2.4-liter engine.

Pros:
  • Strong performance from V6, good four-cylinder fuel economy, excellent ride and handling balance, comfortable seats, straightforward controls, high crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Subpar rear seat space, no rear center armrest, hit-or-miss cabin materials and construction, a few key features are unavailable.

  • I am totally in love with this car! - 2010 Chevrolet Malibu
    By -

After extensive reading of Edmunds reviews and comments by owners of various sedans I focused my search on the Chevy Malibu for safety ratings, MPG, and style. I didnt think I could afford the higher trim level but searched until I found one I could afford. I bought a pre-owned 2010 LT2 with only 960 miles on it! I love everything about my car! The interior is far nicer than lower trim levels that disappointed me as appearing "cheap." This car is a 4- cylinder and has plenty of pep and sips gas! The interior cabin is my favorite. It was a stylish interior with ambient night light and luxurious feel and all the amenities Id hoped to afford. Totally a "best buy" for me! I love it!

  • Beware of Chevy Customer Service. - 2010 Chevrolet Malibu
    By -

Bought a beautiful 2010 Chevy Malibu in May 2010. Started having misfiring problems in July. Long story short, I have had it for just 5 months 3 of which it has had issues. 4 times in and out of the dealer to try and get it fixed. Called Chevy Customer service and basically got nothing. They dont help, dont call back or if they do its to repeat what the dealer has already told me. Supposedly its an intermittent problem and they cant fix it unless they can reproduce it even after diagnostics shows misfires. Then they say they will help get me out of the problem and change their mind the next day. Bottom line is no customer satisfaction. Wish I would have kept my Ford Fusion!

  • Some driving issues - 2010 Chevrolet Malibu

Opted for the v6, gas mileage is poor, performance is just ok, small trunk opening, cant get anything in it without twisting and turning the article, seats are uncomfortable, visibility is very bad, took rear seat headrest off, put them on front seats because they are smaller, stored the front seat ones, when I looked into the rear view mirror all I saw was headrest, looking forward with the large a pillars is outright dangerous, XM radio poor reception, constantly get disconnected with blue tooth, its useless, my 2007 Impala ltz with 3.9 v6 was peppy and great gas mileage, nice car but this could be better, hard to get in and out, low roofline always hitting head getting in and out

  • Great Car - 2010 Chevrolet Malibu
    By -

I have been very pleased with this car. Before purchasing I test drove a Honda Accord, Ford Fusion, Nissan Altima, and Toyota Camry. This car had the best ride and had better styling than these others. Whenever I have rented another midsized car during the past year, I am anxious to get back to my Malibu. Attention was given to the small details in the Malibu that other competitors did not. The ride is smooth, and the interior is very stylish and quiet. I love the interior two tone titanium color. The black interior was too dark for me. Overall, this is a great car.

GM nailed this one. Rides like a dream. Gets great mpg avg 35 mpg at 69 mp. I drive mostly highway miles. The trunk needs to be bigger other than that. Very happy.

  • Not Fun in the Summer - 2010 Chevrolet Malibu
    By -

Before summer arrived I thought this car was the best, now not so much. There is a "surging" problem with the transmission when it is hot out and to date GM has not taken this issue seriously. I bought this car to support America, a family member who works for GM and now I am regretting it, too bad because if this issue was fixed the car would be perfect.

  • Stop whining, reviewers: its a NICE car - 2010 Chevrolet Malibu

Heres a story for you: I rented a 2010 Malibu LTZ w/2064 miles on it, and continued to rent it, a month at a time (my job required it) continuously for the next 7 months. At the end of my assignment, the car had 20,600 miles on the odometer, Id become quite fond of it, and it didnt have even ONE DANGED THING WRONG WITH IT. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. No rattles, dings, scratches, scuffs, etc, so, after several phone calls and some help from my buds at the rental car location, I started the process to pull the car out of the fleet & buy it. Bottom line: I made a truly good deal on it, it was delivered at the Chevy dealer w/full factory warranty, and I now own it. Still flawless. Go figure!

  • Exceeds our "expectations" - 2010 Chevrolet Malibu
    By -

My wife and I love our new Malibu! Our Malibu exceeds "all" of our expectations. The standard turn by turn navigation is awesome and easy to use. Hard to believe a family sedan comes standard with the paddle shift, which worked great while we took a drive through the Smokey mountains. We love everything about our new Malibu lt!

  • Love my Malibu except for ... - 2010 Chevrolet Malibu
    By -

Love the looks, the handling, the performance on the hills and freeway. I dont like the blind spots-cant see out back side window if theres a passenger in the front seat or behind me on the drivers side. Childrens car seats dont fit well in the back and no room for an adult in the middle - back seat is smaller than my old Camry. Trunk is small but does hold more than I thought it would. Dont get black interior if you have children! I have grandchildren so they arent in the car a lot but when they are what a mess!

  • GM nailed it! - 2010 Chevrolet Malibu

I absolutely love the car! The sunroof really makes it look sharp. I tried the Ford Fusion but the ride was choppy compared to the Malibu.Im glad I tried the Malibu first because I wasnt happy with any other car. The ride is great, we both have bad backs so the ride was really important. I got a great deal to boot!I rode in a friends Camry and it just doesnt compare. GM nail it with this one! On Star is great, Ill probably renew that.
