  • Very Good Quality Car! I Love It! - 1999 Chevrolet Malibu

My grandma bought this car new with only a few miles. She wasnt easy on the car. She would run hard from red lights and the car pulled a big mountain 5 miles long and another 30 something every day for 11 years for her work. The car now has 207,500 miles on the original engine and transmission and STILL has great passing power! I am 18 and I bought this car from her last year. I take it on very long trips(200 miles at a time). People dont think its reliable anymore with so many miles, but I feel very assured that it will get me there and back! Its a very pretty car and has great trunk and leg room! I think this car will reach 300,000 miles no problem. Quite on roads and rides very smooth

What can i say the 1999 chevy malibu is a great car for the guy who knows what hes doing. Never had a problem i could not fix, if any! i have had it now for 10 years now and am going to keep it. A little fine tuning and you feel like your driving indy. Its V6 engine is perfect spec. To go in and beef it up, iv added a twin turbo pac, engine mods, tuned the suspension added extra trac-bars. OK not everyone can do this but for me GM is a greatly made car, i know i take them apart and see the quality thats there. iv taking other cars apart and brother there not what they seem..at least the ones that come from the dealers, cheap metal, plastic, sometimes the guys that make them are lost.

i have never had a problem from my 1999 chevy malibu. i bought it from a junk yard for $800, it got hit in the front end. no major damage. its still running. i replaced the front bumper cover and thats all that got messed up on it. i got it and it only has 164,000 miles on it. have not had to put any work into it. have had it since nov last year. motor is still strong. you have to take care of the car for you to have it a long time. you know not hot rodding it.... etc

  • Its 3/5/2010 and I have driven+236,000m - 1999 Chevrolet Malibu
    By -

On 3/5/2010 I have driven 236,000 plus miles in this car. Over 22K/yr. I have had to do some maintenance but nothing more than usual. The only major repair is the new transmission at 170K. This has been an extremely reliable car throughout and I obviously do a lot of driving and has been comfortable to travel in, I am 65" 260lbs so I need some space and this car has plenty. Radio works fine, Blows cold AC, down here in Florida that helps.I had to car in Ohio for the first 10 yrs of its life and the ice/snow/salt did nothing to the outside or anything. Did well in the snow could not be happier with this car overall.I mean everyone has something to complain about but I got my $s worth

  • Amazing Little Car - 1999 Chevrolet Malibu
    By -

I recently bought my 1999 Chevy Malibu for $1,500. For a High School Student the car is an amazing little car. I run it hard and it gets a consistent 23mpg in town. I love the looks of the car and it cleans up really well. Only issue with my car is the gas gauge doesnt work, but I can live without it. It hasnt given me or the previous owner any issues and its pushing 160,000 miles. Great car and I would recommend it to anyone!

  • Blah - 1999 Chevrolet Malibu

I did buy the car used it has 156,000 miles on it now and the transmission is going out. I have replaced the engine(luckily still under warranty), starter, alternator, battery, tune up. Need to replace front brakes once to twice a year. Has been reliable car but when something goes wrong it is not a cheap fix always looking at minimum 200 dollars and thats if you fix it yourself. Also problem as long as i have had the car when you are at a stop and turn you will here grind and have to power through it(supposedly nothing wrong). Other than the issues is a good car unfortunately cant afford to fix transmission.

  • Awesome car, never had trouble - 1999 Chevrolet Malibu

  • Malibu: Reliable Car Packed w/ Features - 1999 Chevrolet Malibu
    By -

This vehicle is very comfortable on long trips. You can pay several thousand more for less features and what some think is better quality (Camry or Accord), but I dont think they are worth it. The Malibu has proven to be reliable as far as ratings are concerned and for transportation for me over the 7 months that I have owned it. Another thing to consider when buying a car in this class is the price to repair it. The parts needed to repair a Camry or Accord can be very expensive compared to the Malibu, when something does go wrong.

  • Wow, surprized by the # of complaints - 1999 Chevrolet Malibu
    By -

I am shopping for a new car now. I am considering others but keep looking at the Malibu for the value. I have been very satisfied with my 99 Malibu. It is the first Chev. I have ever purchased. I am in sales and need a car that has room and still be easy to park. I am still on my original brakes. Like the ride, gas mileage and performance for a 20,000 or less auto. My only proplem was a leak under windshield. Fixed on first try.

  • Buy a 99 malibu LS. You wont be sorry. - 1999 Chevrolet Malibu
    By -

My 99 malibu ls is great transportation. The only problem I ever experienced is a trunk water leak when it was new. Once that was fixed, it was excellent in all ways. My advice, however, is not to buy a car from Carfagno Chevrolet. They are a nightmare when you have a problem. Go to Magarity Chevrolet on Bethlehem Pike for top of the line, courteous service.
