  • WHAT A GREAT CAR!!! I LOVE IT:) - 1999 Chevrolet Malibu

We bought our Malibu brand new, have not had 1 repair done to it since day 1, other than to change the oil and rotate the tires( which are still original) and yes the brakes are fine, a/c is working great. Great handling car, super fuel mileage, comfortable road car. Does great in snow/ice, when other japanese cars are spinning their wheels on snow trying to get going, Ill go right on by them. I love it.

We were shopping for a family sedan on a very limited budget. The Malibu was the most affordable 5 passenger sedan we could find. With automatic trans. PW, PL, keyless entry, AC, curise, etc it came to about $15,000. After purchasing it we kept finding features we didnt know were there - daylight running lights, automatic head lights, a cup holder on the left for the driver, comfortable rear seating for 6 foot passengers, a trucnk that will hold $400 worth of groceries, etc. After 30,000 miles it has been trouble free (a warranty replacement of a PS hose solved a PS chatter). The 2.4 liter 4 has plenty of power and gets 30 MPG on the highway. Highly recommend this vehicle.

Pebbles and I just love it! Our Malibu was very affordable, gets great gas mileage, and has all the power features you would expect on a more expensive automobile. It has the euro sport look, rides nice, and plenty of head and leg room. Thanks Chevrolet! We sold our foreign car, which by the way, sits very low to the ground; the seats in our Malibu are more comfortable.

Bought what was to be an excellent driving and dependable car from an elderly lady. turned out to have a lot of problems in the next 8 months. Ball bearing in front suspention needed to be replaced w/ only 40000 miles and head gasket leaked at only 38000 miles. Bad shocks.

  • Bad, Bad Malibu!!! - 1999 Chevrolet Malibu

Malibu 3yrs. Brakes replaced 3xs/yr. Im do for a brake job now after only 4 mths! I only get about 20K mi. on 60K mi. tires. I have 93K mi. on my car & purchased at least 3 new set of tires since buying the car. 60K mi. * 3 set of tires = 180K mi. total. Not including the original tires that was replaced around 30K mi. Maybe we should all complain to GMC & get a recall on the brake system & the suspension for the tires. CD player doesnt work anymore. Get ERR each time CD is inserted & the systems kicks the CD back out. Sometimes sensor light comes on & I would have to turn the engine off, & restart the car hoping it would reset.

Hi! I purchased the car in Feb. 2002 and I love it. I test drove a ton of other cars, and I really liked the Malibu. Lots of power, but with good fuel efficiency. I also really like the spaciousness of the interior. Im not a big car fan, so this was somewhere in the middle- lots of interior space without feeling like its a boat!

  • OK, but not Recommended - 1999 Chevrolet Malibu

I have had the same repetitive problems with my Malibu. From automatic windows breaking twice to the air conditioner going out 3 times. Most recently the Alternator went out with no battery warning whatsoever. For having the car less than 3 years (bought new), its been in the shop probably 10 times. Though nothing extremely major has broken, I do not recommend this car.

  • I WILL NEVER BUY A GM AGIAN!!! - 1999 Chevrolet Malibu
    By -

Bought this car with 5k on it. Had problems with starting. Had to take to dealer 3 times. Replaced breaks at 20k rotors and pads. At 40k Transmition started shifting really hard. Engine light keeps comming on. I have done my best to take care of this car. I though maybe I was the only one having problems untill I found this web site. Used to be a GM guy Now I switched to Ford. Traded in the Chevy and got a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer. Hope this will be a better car. I will never buy GM agian.

This is a hihg value/price ratio car, nonetheless quality could be improved much more; "abs" platic used in the interior seems and says "el cheapo". A/C very erratic, had to fix, change control panel US$500.00; alternator give up w/o warning US$500.00 repair; gas guzzler. noisy front suspension. bland tires.
