Bought this new and 2 weeks after taking delivery had it back at the dealer to have the inside roof (of all things) repaired due to a loud noise. Less then 6 months later it was the AC switch, and then the tie rods and then breaks (3 sets in 39k miles). One set of new tires and a couple of other minor things before the head gasket went at 37k miles. Out of warranty... Talked to the service manager and complained about the poor quality of these cars and he told me these engines are notorious for blowing head gaskets. Squeaking serpentine belt replaced 8 times in 3 years. Theyd replace it, but never found the problem for the reoccurring squeak.

We bought this car a year ago and it had 23,000 miles and we now have 35,000 on it. I and my wife love the car. In fact Im talking about buying a larger car for my wife just so I can drive it every day. Extremely comfortable and sporty. Had the breaks and suspension checked a week ago and was told they are in excellent condition. Couldnt have asked for a better car considering the Buick we last had. Took the Malibu on a 1,400 mile road trip?Perfect

My car is a good car, however I believe that it looks nicer than it really is. I havent had it long and already a belt is squealing. It also isnt very fuel efficent. With gas prices going up, how am i supposed to afford it?

Substandard front brakes. Coolant leaks. Eats batteries. Alternator replaced. Rack and pinnion replaced. Tie rods replaced. Suspension creaks and rattles. Environmental control panel failed. Light bulbs in radio burned out. Front window trim whistles when strong cross wind hits just right. "Check" engine light keeps luminating - dealer says its the cat converter that has already been repalced twice out of emission warranty.

Other than major dealership problems, the car itself has been reliable.

I purchased this car brand new in September 1999. Two month later I had to replace the rotor. Half way through the year I replace two tires. Give I put a lot of miles, but I have been in the shop a lot of times replacing belts, alternator, and etc. Right now Im having trouble shifting into gear on a cold start but dealer cant find anything wrong. The car is very noisy and I lost value because of the drop in price. Im switching to Toyota. No more Chevy.

Having this vehicle for two years has been great. It is sleek enough for pre- baby years, and trustworthy enough since we have had baby.

My Malibu is perfect but I would NOT reccommend going to the dealer I went to.

This car I bought new and whatta mistake. Repairs, Uncomfortable, you name it. Whatta junker. Buy a Honda or Toyota and dont feel guilty. USA car makers should be embarrased for GM.
