Overview & Reviews
The Chevrolet Impala carries over largely unchanged for 2008. Satellite radio is now standard on all models, while the lower-level LS and LT models receive a standard six-way power driver seat. Stability control is now standard on 2LT, LTZ and SS trim levels, and the 3.9-liter V6 is now E85 ethanol-gasoline compatible.
- Powerful and efficient engine choices, available six-passenger capacity, good crash test scores.
- Cushy suspension hurts handling dynamics, subpar cabin materials, average legroom.

Big questions - 2008 Chevrolet Impala
By TEV - May 31 - 6:13 pmI have a question for other Impala owners. Do you hear a change in engine sound during wet weather? I also feel a loss of power in heavy rains? Am I nuts or does anyone else experience these problems?

A good car for the price - 2008 Chevrolet Impala
By calcote - April 27 - 5:56 pmThe Chevy Impala is a very nice car. It has many nice features. The fuel economy is pretty bad on this car. It gets only about 21 mpg in rural areas. The style of the interior and exterior is very nice and the car is very roomy. It is a very reliable car that looks very nice. The cars is very quiet, comfortable, and has a very fair price.

A/C controls - 2008 Chevrolet Impala
By Mikey - April 17 - 1:15 pmA/C controls do not work properly. When switching from outside air to recirculating air the a/c kicks on. a/c lite stays off. Push a/c button, lie comes on. Push a/c button lite goes off but a/c stays on. Must turn fan knob switch to off to shut off a/c. Chevy division says thats normal. That happens on NO other car that I know of.

Chevrolet has cheapened the Impala - 2008 Chevrolet Impala
By Charl - April 7 - 12:01 pmI was very disappointed in the newer Impala as I owned a 2005 and loved the vehicle (my fault for not researching). Chevrolet has left out many of the old standards of comfort and the gas mileage is very disappointing. We have owned at least six Chevrolet cars and Im sorry to say I will think twice about purchasing another.

Another Chevy - 2008 Chevrolet Impala
By Norma & Jim - March 20 - 4:39 pmWeve owned quite a few Chevy cars over the years and some were better than others. We bought a 2005 Impala in 2006 and it`s been one of the best. Then we bought this 2008 Impala LTZ used. It is stylish, comfortable, quiet and just an all around nice car. It has 40000 mi but still drives and looks like new.

NASCAR IMPALA - 2008 Chevrolet Impala
By Nascar Impala - March 16 - 12:08 pmWhile the few car magazine reviews of this car give it less than stellar reviews, this car is a great cruiser and can be driven as fast as a car needs to be driven! Passing is a blast. While some reviews call the suspension tuning "boat" like, Id strongly disagree. I believe it handles very flat and also takes road bumps well. Very good mix. I have yet to cause the front end to push taking corners way to fast. The seats do limit your cornering as they have no side bolsters. Since most seat time is cruising, this is an acceptable trade off. Gas mileage is good also....except if you are using it for the V-8...which is why I bought it!

Fast speed, faster break downs - 2008 Chevrolet Impala
By Mixed Emotions - February 2 - 8:42 pmBought used with 34000 miles, lots of wheel spin, 21mpg mixed 27 highway. can keep up with newer mustang gts and eat up 5.7 hemi chargers, BUT 4 fuel injectors replaced, bad onstar unit and a paranoia when driving more than 100 miles at a time. every time Ive been on a road trip a fuel injector goes bad. i should have learned my lesson after my 05 ctss water pump and transmission went out at 4 yrs and 33000 miles on the clock. no wonder GM went bankrupt so so so much fun to drive...until it breaks down. dealership would blame a flat tire with a nail in it on "unknown causes with no sure fix"

Good basic car = LS - 2008 Chevrolet Impala
By swhite - January 29 - 10:20 amI drove my Impala LS for two years as company car before buying. It hasnt ever needed mechanical repair. At higher mileages, i do "hear rattling" or something. The tires do wear unevenly which may be the rattling. Otherwise its a great car and easy decision to purchase for my personal use after being company car.

Very satisfied - 2008 Chevrolet Impala
By Mark - January 21 - 6:51 pmImpala now has 50000 kilos on and not one issue. Original tires still have 15000 or more to go. Not a chev fan but cant complain. The traction control is great in snow. Took it down to Florida from Canada ran perfect. Lots of power and handles great for big car, even when loaded with luggage. first North American car Ive owned that hasnt had a problem. May even buy it out when lease end in Sept.
