This Year's Model Updates:

The Equinox is an all-new compact SUV from Chevrolet. It shares a platform with the Saturn Vue and offers similar levels of space and versatility for buyers seeking practical suburban transportation.

Pros:
  • Standard V6 engine, long wheelbase affords plenty of interior room, fore/aft-adjustable rear seats, available side curtain airbags.
Cons:
  • Costs as much as the more powerful Saturn Vue, limited drivetrain choices, confusing stereo controls.

  • Its Fantastic - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

At this point with less than 1000 miles on it, I feel it is the best vehicle I have ever owned. Everyone loves the color-blue,and all the features on the vehicle. The ride is smooth, the pick- up is fast and powerful, the style is enticing. This vehicle is everything it says it is. I feel this is the best overall vehicle I have ever owned.

My Nox was my 16 birthday gift, i was so thrilled but not now!! since two months of purchased it started having problems: 1) The start engine switch was awfully bad had two different keys by now 2) I have drifted three times and have crash it because of the front traction. 3) Has horrible electric problems i have got my way home in a flat bed shuts down because a short circuit, 4) have burned twice the power steering fussiles 5) The interior is BIG trash! nmbers had fade, the arm rest has peeled off 6) The emergency Brake conflicts with the cup holders if you are using them and from all the stuff even the cd player doesnt work since like 2 years now! A/C does not work right now !

  • Luv my Chevy Equinox!! - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

I ordered it new in 2005 with all the available options and only have replaced tires - I have 67000 miles on it now, and no problems. I am seriously thinking of getting a new 2010 model, but believe my gas mileage is better than the rating mpg on the new 2010. I would highly recommend this vehicle. Proud to drive it~! Sharp looking and easy to drive...dependable too!!

My Equinox was bought after looking at other vehicles for a few months. I went and picked up a brochure from the dealer. I was impressed from the first look. Then I went to the biggest dealer in my area they had the vehicle I wanted so I traded two Fords for it. I love it. The gas mileage is the only thing that is wanting but it is getting there the more miles I drive it.

The Equinox is a good fit for our famiily of three and a dog. The interior is useful, comfortable and roomy. The wind noise around the A pillars is the only unwelcome noise at speed. The engine and transmission work well together to move through commuter traffic. It also pulls well in hilly terrain. The adaptive transmission works well in the mountains. I often find myself cruising at 80 mph on the interstates. Get ready to fill up the gas tank often though. It is too small for the poor fuel mileage the car gets. The sandstone exterior color is attractive. Still getting used to the handling. It falls over in corners, but then sticks fairly well, with a bit of understeer.

I hate this vehicle. Rear bearings went out at 42K miles. Now front bearings are going out. Complained to Chevy and they wouldnt back it up because I bought it used and a local mechanic did the work. The fact it was poor quality didnt play into it. GM and Chevy have lost me forever.

  • To the curb it went! - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

After a few years, we decided to trade our Equinator in on a 4 door rubicon. Electrical issues were a major concern with this chevy. The Equinox has potential to be a great vehicle for some, but GM has to quit putting cheap parts in their vehicles. This was our biggest issue. trade in value is a reflection of how cheap this vehicle is.

  • Fully Loaded - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

Bought brand new. Fully loaded, paid extra for paint color. Loved it in the beginning. Then the problems began. CD player replaced 3 times...CDs get jammed in player, some dont play at all. Window controls and cup holders must have been placed by a blind guy. Sounds like a helicoptor is on top of me when the windows are open. Leather is horrible quality. Interior paint is chipping off. Uneven tire wear. Had issues with cooling system within first 2 years. Now, I get to play "Equinox Roulette" everytime I get in...will it start today? Found out a cylinder is misfiring and the coolant looks like mud. From reading other posts, seems like a blown head gasket...awesome.

  • You have to love it - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

I purchased my vehicle a week ago. Pros: Amazingly smooth and comfortable drive at about any speed. At highway speeds, the engine stays between 3- 4000rpm almost all the time. The radio has a feature I didnt realize called "autovolume" that increases the volume as you drive. The A/C definetly works very well. Im in Phoenix with 100 degree temperatures over the summer and it cools you down very fast. Cons: The car miscalculates accelerations at times when going at high speeds. This only occured from 80- 90mph which is not a speed people are or should be doing anyways. Overall I am very impressed, especially as the Nox is my first new car purchase.
