Model Overview:

The Chevrolet Colorado is Chevy's entry in the highly competitive compact truck segment. Like its rivals, the Colorado is closer to midsize than truly compact. Accordingly, it offers a reasonable amount of hauling capability without the added cost and bulk of a full-size pickup. As is customary in this segment, Chevrolet offers extended-cab and four-door crew-cab layouts, multiple bed lengths and available off-road preparation.

Older versions of the Chevy Colorado could be worth a look if you need a basic work truck, but their four- and five-cylinder engines are weak for this class (though you may find a few examples with a robust optional V8 engine). Colorados from 2015 and later are dramatically better, with competitive powertrains, up-to-date technology features and a spacious interior.

2,400 miles so far and going back to shop for second time. Dealer cant seem to fix alignment. Interior is very cheap. Rear headrests block rearview. XM radio is a joke, dont pay extra for it!

Was going to buy a new V6 Colorado until test drive this past weekend (Nov 27, 2015). Rides nice but transmission hesitates / stumbles badly when applying the gas. Going up interstate ramp or even around town. Real bad hesitation and totally unacceptable to the point you feel the vehicle will stall and hope somebody else doesnt rear end you. I asked the dealers agent riding with me about the hesitation and he didnt say one word. I wont be buying one of these.

Great truck all around. Z71 Crew 3.5L I5 with 3.73 gears is good on gas and has good acceleration. Good interior room. Nicest riding midsize pickup on the market. Best looking pickup on the Market.

I bought this truck instead of a Dakota which Id test drove twice because it was a new design and Ive always fancied Chevys. All I felt since my first trip on the interstate was regret for not buying the Dakota. My 2nd trip to the shop for "minor" problems concreted my remorse. A note to all other people considering this truck.. The Colorado was released to put life back into their compact truck line and to directly compete with the Dodge dakota. The are batting .500. It is better than the S- 10 but still no comparison to the Dakota..

For the first 1,500 miles, it was a great truck. Then the sporatic rough idling started. The dealer says that it is a computer glitch. "Bring it back in three weeks, we might have a fix for it by then", says the dealer; "Chevrolet will certainly have the glitch worked out within the next three months". In the mean time, the problem continues. The mechanic told me that "lots of Colorados have this problem". GM unleashes another untested design on the buying public. Remember the 1977 Oldsmobile diesel fiasco? I do!! This is my last GM product.

The little truck turned out to be a lot more fun to drive than I thought. The engine is a little noisy when on the gas. I really dont like the not having a key lock on the drivers side. The gas mileage is great. I average 25mpg. I looked at Nissan and Toyota, and both were too pricey for what I needed in a pickup. I drove the Nissan and Toyota and neither truck had the power that the Chevy had.

I am very pleased with my new Colorado. It is very stylish and very fun to drive. The Z71 has an awesome stance and ground clearance. I believe it is the best mid size truck on the market.

I love this truck It looks great and runs great. Everytime I step on the gas it brings a smile to my face. Heated seats are great in Chicago winters and the traction control also works well in the snow. It looks like a much more expensive than what it cost. I am not ashamed to drive my boss around in this baby! I was going to buy a fullsize Chevy and I am happy I didnt. I get better gas mileage and its faster 0-60 than the big truck.

Overall a great truck for someone who doesnt routinely need a large hauling or towing capacity. Ive taken several trips over 300 miles and the ride was always comfortable. Plenty of power, smooth shifting, easy on the fly transfer from 2WD to 4WD. Z71 package has a nice ride with good steering input. Holds the road well. 4WD and suspension gives plenty of grip and stability over rough terrain. Very good gas mileage. I average about 20 mpg (23- 24 on mostly highway trips, worst was 17 mpg for a tank but that was almost all stop and go short trips in cold weather). Back seats are only good for small people / short trips.
